That's insane. My boss bought this 130 which had been restored with a galvanised chassis, new bulkhead, etc. for £5k. I suspect it was a bit of a bargain as far as Land Rovers go mind you.

I can't understand it, £5000 appears to buy you a pretty rough defender, why when you could have for the same money a very smart SII Discovery... I know disco's are not without their faults but you get a much more refined, useable vehicle that will still do mud when required...

Depending on its "provenance", that 288 GTO could be worth £££ - Lauda had 2, Schekter also, Eddie Irvine still has his, and I'm pretty sure The Gurning Brummy had one when he drove for them. Very quick, too. A bloke I work for now and again went to look at one priced up at 30k, turned out to be a crashed basket case. My pal passed on it, but someone else bought it at the asking price. It's all about the serial number with those GTOs.
