castros_bro Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Just got all the V5s back from DVLaaa, 12 are from vehicles which we dismantled over the years and their remains went on welding practice then to the council tip before it was a recycling centre. Can't send them to an end of life place as they don't exist in the real world so they are doomed to exist forever on DVLaaa paper, any one want a Morris Minor or A35, Triumph Herald or Zundapp? I can fold one up and post it second class to make collection easy.
Cavcraft Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I'm sure nobody on here would even consider it, but please be careful what you do with them in case they end up in the hands of ringers.
HillmanImp Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Well, its worth keeping hold of these in case you get one of these situations like with that SD1 a few years back which was in GR8 nick but had to go to the crusher due to a fook up by Doovla. Not sure if it ever did like as I am sure something along these lines occurred? Then, its okay to do a ringer. I am sure one of my Imps lives on under a different guise after I crashed it and the person repairing it forgot to put the VIN back on. A few months later the next owner got pulled over. Police thought he was trying to pull a fast one for road tax but it was a genuine error. Was trying to trace it a couple of years back but it suddenly 'disappeared'. Suspect its still around.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Put them in a glass fronted box with "break glass in case of scrappage scheme return" written on it. Cavcraft and rml2345 2
Lankytim Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I remember a scrappage Minor for sale on ebay, it was for spares only but was being sold whole by a scrap metal processors. I wish i'd bought it now!
phil_lihp Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Thank you for this thread. It reminded me that I still haven't had any acknowledgement from the DVLA of my disposal of the old CG125 I broke earlier in the year. The frame is long gone and the component parts are now attached to other bikes all over the country but I have just looked online and it's still showing as registered despite a detailed letter sent to the DVLA (at their request) some months ago. Tax has just run out on it so will probably get a snotty letter soon! Time for a phone call methinks.
barefoot Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Anything without a suffix on the number plate, please drop in the post, Freepost barefootDE74 2SA Many thanks
Pillock Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I still own a 1973 Beetle on paper. Got at least four V5s it, back in the days when you didn't have too dig paperwork out to tax it every 6 months.... Just apply for another. I think I've only got a rear window and some switches left. The rest of it is a Beko fridge by now. HMC 1
