My small collection of shite

New on here but so far liking the style of things...

Got 3 fine examples of shite at the moment

Current daily, paint was shite and required welding on the body, so all that could suffice was a cheap rattle job

Polo GT Coupe

Another Polo (the white mk2), this one's done 18K, selling soon to make way for a battered volvo 340 though

And finally, my favourite of the lot, which looks good in the picture, but it's been a hefty project which is nearly completed, after many hours of welding

Welcome aboard!!

Cheers guys,

The tina sadly doesn't look like that at the minute, and probably won't be painted properly until the weather heats up next year

But it will be on the road before then

Like the normal ride height on the Polo GT and particularly approving of the Corty, very nice save

Great to have you on board. I like the look of that Polo a lot

The 'GT' coupe. Like that a lot

or8 m7+1

I wouldn't say it's too much of a distasteful scenery, no stretched tyres, forced rust or sparks - but it was/is my first car.

Regardless, its going soon to make way for this, which I think is some real shite

The coupe isn't as retro in my eyes, but it goes well and doesn't drink fuel too badly, so it's a decent daily.

340 on 440 wheels?

Gr5 4 Dritfins.

If you like changing props.

Spose it could be a 360 GL. Which would be more strongerer up the twisty middle.

The wheels aren't on it anymore, thats the only picture I have, from a "spotted in edinburgh" flickr page

It will probably be drifted a bit, it's a 1.7 GL

There is a snag with it though - it failed its last mot on 10 items of corrosion, most would probably scrap it but it's all practice and skill improvment

Welcome, i love the tincorner

Cheers matey 8)

welcome! some tidy stuff there, good to see non-scene polos

Ah. Prop couplings are made of cheese rubber then. Theyre not really designed for sustained torque.

Same power as a 1.4 or close enough, but with none of the reliability.

Good cars though. Air leaks common on 1.7 cabs, and they need looked after, but they are a good car.

Comfiest seats ever. And heated! Usually.

Yup, heated seats, warping carb mounting plates, the whole shebang

Paint the prop Cadbury's purple...

Loving the Tina, mate. Also OMFGG J plate 340 rare. The collectors would pay a strong £200 for that. (Tight bastards.)

Cheers mate, I've been told J plates are rare, as are body coloured bumpers on a 340 (they're not on it anymore though :-? )

Welcome, good going on the Cortina project there.

I do however particularly tip my Trico Plush hat to you on the 340 future purchase.

Lovely selection there, sir. Nice to see the scenemobile getting replaced with a big DAF Volvo.

Any more pics of the 'Tina ? We do love rusty metal here on Autoshite

Apologies for this particular pic being massive in advance

After welding

Some crusty sill cut away

Fixed

Quite a bit more been repaired, about 75% through the welding, simple things to do now, small curved section at rear, flat section for bumper mount and a 1"x1" patch under rear wheel tub, should be good to go then

Not all doom and gloom though, the boot floor is immaculate

Last on the road in 1983!
