I'll be dead chuffed if it's actually that nice. I will say it's very pleasant during the day here at the moment, but perishing at night. Bring warm clothes!

As the only one of us with a manual gearbox, I plan to get one of you to a-frame me down for OMGMPG FYUEL SAVING

It'll no be me. No tow bar n'awthat.

Taken outside the hotel this evening. Sixcylinder has turned up early!

He's actually on his annual visit with friends. They're all in MGs and MX5s, but clearly sixcylinder prefers the classier Maserati Quattroporte.

It's bloody dark, which is why the photo is shite.

Only red light I get to see has a little oil can in it 😭

Right, well, I now have no way to get home from Shitefest so I'm not coming.  6 won't be ready in time and my back-up transports are both double-booked.  I'm going to stop trying to make this happen now, clearly it's not meant to be for some reason.

That's a pity VA I'm sure there were a few of us that were looking forward to meeting you.

I'm coming this time even if I have to get the train (VoR steam railway FTW ) :)

Just out of interest/amusement I checked what a train journey would involve. Excluding the steam railway as that doesn't show up on The Trainline, it is 54 miles from here to Aberystwyth and should take 90 minutes by car. By train involves 4 changes and a 7 hour 40 minute journey, going via Shrewsbury! Public transport FTW...

I was hoping that a more direct journey would be possible for you using the Ffestiniog railway from your place down to Miniffordd then the full sized train down to Aberystwyth then the VoR up to Devils Bridge but theres not enough trains running to do it in a day.

Due to a bit of track being washed away at the moment it would still involve 3 trains and a bus to get from Miniffordd to Aberystwyth.

To be fair,  Mat will struggle to a-frame the Stellar down to shitefest behind any type of train.

Thanks for the offer but I was only joking about catching a train! I'll be driving from Bala (where the Stellar is stored) to Anglesey (for exhaust fitting) then down to Devil's Bridge. Not the most direct route but hey, I feel guilty living so close so had to make it more of a challenge.

Good point about the Ffestiniog railway, it runs right through the woods behind our house! And I'd completely forgotten about the coast line; we took a steam train on that a few years back :-)

The railway from Shrewsbruy to Aberstwyth get massive bonus shite points for still having proper drop arm signals. None of this modern traffic lights nonsense.

It is a lovely line to ride and if you book in advance was decently cheap the last time I used it.

Alternitivly if those without cars can get to Birmingham by train on Saturday morning then I can provide transport to darkest Wales.

I've got 16th and 17th booked off work for this... question, can anyone pick up a Jimp roof for me from Llanelli in South Wales to collect at Shitefest?

It's only small. Or I may be doing an excursion!

In a similar vein, is anyone going who is in regular contact or close to Ratdat? I have a radio for him so it'd be good if it could make its way over there.

Is anyone coming from the Bristol/Wells area to Shitefest?

I have 'won' a thing on Ebay there. If anyone could collect it I would be eternally grateful (and would happily pay petrol costs etc).

Otherwise I'll just have to do a massive detour on the way, which would be INCONVENIENT.

It's a load of magazines, so you could even have free reading material for 6 weeks...

'Bump' for this...

Also I have some MOAR MAGAZINES to collect from Ludlow, so if anyone's going from/via/near there...

Posted

I'll fetch them for you,  no working car at the moment though but can fetch a certain amount from the town centre on my bicycle if the seller is being impatient.

Yep, happily, as long as whoever has it will let me do it on a Saturday or Sundau as I'm in London during the week for the foreseeable. PM me details.

!!!FREE STUFF TO A GOOD HOME!!!

While getting some nice new raspberry ripple sauce injected into the autobox in my 740, my tame mechanic introduced me to a Hydragas Recharging machine. Suitable for Princesses, metros and the like. New hoses and fittings installed on it.

Anyone wants it give me a PM and you can phone him. I'll bring with to THE FEST!!!

It looks like I'm out, as said a few pages back I'm working away at present.

The thought of flying back Friday evening, picking up a rental from an airport and driving over is a possibility, but then I'd need to book a room in the hotel if there are any left ... I'll try and work out where I'll be working that week and see what flights back I can get and to where ....

Yo Davey, that sound ideal for VA. Even if he's not coming I'm sure someone could drop it off or relay it back for him.

That's a shame Skattrd. Sadly, the hotel is now full. Fly in, buy random motorhome, drive to Shitefest, put random motorhome on Ebay, fly away again. WCPGW?
