To be honest Dave things had been going far too well anyway, we needed a break!

I have my own conspiracy theory : I reckon the data loss wasn't due to human error at all. It was simply due to an earth fault of the Lucas-manufactured server !

I will have you know that it is running a hybrid Wipac/nippon denso server.

Nobody liked my report and pictures of Saturday's Maxey car show anyway, but to break the forum just so you don't have to read it seems a bit over the top.

All of us who do IT Stuff have done this sort of thing and I’m not going to get upset about it. We’re grateful to Dave for sorting out the old bird and getting it to the current working state. A bit like fixing OMGHGF on a K series and getting it out on the motorway again.

The important thing is for Dave to review working procedures and update them to reduce (you can’t eliminate it) the chance of it happening again. In the systems I look after, taking a combination of full and incremental (i.e. small) backups of the various database tables has been successful.

Well the good news is that i have just managed to get nameservers for autoshite.com working and hopefully it will be back on http://autoshite.commlm at some point tomorrow.

@Meggersdog:  Not so, I liked them.  I think I even pressed the Like button.

Is there a button to press that says ' I like Dave'?

He needs all the love he can get on here! Much respect for his IT skillz.

Thought I'd been kicked off the forum becausethe crack team at the Autoshite Research Shite Examiners had discovered I don't actually own any real shite, and of the various heaps on the drive that i pretend are mine most are actually registered to random daughters.

Although reregistering was so easy, almost an anticlimax after 6 months trying to get on in the first place.

You'll look back and laugh at this over the port and cigars in The Wolesley when you sell out to Haymarket , they're bound to realise eventually that the one demographic they can't get to is miserable bastards with a rust and velour fetish who are too tight to pay £4.99 for Practical Classics

Wouldn't worry about it, it'll just be replaced by more cobblers about Allegros and Peroduas.

Fuck it, it's well cool more random shit will be written to fill the gaps. Loosing sleep is not cool. Once had a fella at work who overwrote the whole Homebase live database and website. Now that was funny....
