Yup, polo 1.1 gearbox too. Just right for revving the tits off while progressing slowly to the UK.

The late two strokes had a similar front as they had a front mounted radiator. And, of course, are much better than these.

Unfortunately I was only slightly joking about 47% booze being a steady all day drink. Bulgarian drinking is different level.

My best friend there, whenever she is offered beer or wine or similar, always replies 'no thanks, I don't do soft drinks'.

The town was about 70km away. My walk could have been a bit more or less than that, but I don't really know as I'm not sure of the route I took.

Before I started this thread I had walked from France to Bulgaria and then during the thread have walked most of France, some of Turkey and across Cyprus, but that 70km hurt me as much as, if not more than, anything. I'm getting old.

Finally, back on the thread. I have to apologise in advance for any forthcoming lack of interesting content. I seem to have developed a girlfriend in the UK so probably won't be resuming travels for a bit. I'm sure I'll find some old crap to post in the meantime though.

Since I last posted on this thread I have developed a steady job and a relatively steady girlfriend and all that shizz so UK spots will have to do for now, until one or many more things in my life go horribly wrong/right and I hit the road again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I've done a couple of autosolo events since I've been back in the UK.

 

 

I plenty much enjoy it.

 

 

A couple of my favourite autosolo entrants.

 

 

 

I bought a Citroen AX for future autosoloing but fell in love with it, so I decided to keep the AX for best and buy something else small and zippy for race hoonery. . . .

 

 

. . . so I bought an auto V6 SAAB floppytop, OBVS.

 

 

This means that I still need to buy a small, zippy car. Or a van. Or an estate. Or a track car. Or a Vauxhall.

 

For a month in the autumn, Moog kindly let me borrow his Vel Satis (which is now in the deserving hands of Mr D.Barefoot Esq).

I'm a fairly regular Wetherspoons botherer and was in their Guildford establishment recently. Turns out, the building was previously the first Dennis factory, looking like this.

 

 

I took a few pictures of some of the history displayed on the walls, apparently just of a bad enough quality that they can't be read.

When I took the picture it was because it looked like an L200 or summat with a VW badge, which was odd. Looking at the picture today, I had doubts and thought it was probably a caddy pickup.

Ladas and Skodas are something I'm well used to...reckon one of them or a Trabant has to be on the cards at some point...

I've not been aboard this thread in a while, however I recently downloaded a Firefox plugin that restores all Photobucket linked pictures so I can remind myself of all the shit I'd forgotten I did over the past few years of traveling. Most of the pictures on here have long since been deleted from memory cards so it's a godsend to be honest.

Anyway, to celebrate this, I'm dumping my backload of spots from the last few months of UK Normal Life. Some are rubbish. Some are far worse than that. Enjoy.

I've been trying to encourage the girlfriend's inner spotter to flourish. The next three are from her. Room for improvement but solid work.

 

 

 

 

I was drawn to this VW purely because the bodywork mod at the front made it look (to me) a bit like a UAZ 452.

This thing appeared round the corner from our house recently. Curtain twitching levels increased dramatically.

I moved a nice old boy recently. I didn't have to drive the truck and the job was near home so I just took my car straight there.

Turns out the guy has a little bit of a thing for 205s. Mine is on the left.

 

 

 

Oh and he has EIGHT other 205s. Five of them autos. Most were in storage but there were a couple more gems at his house.

Absolutely no-one might remember this Mazda 929 which has featured irregularly on this thread, on my camera lens, and in my soggy dreams.
