Local Car Meet Photos - Tonight

That Cresta is a home brew from a 4 door body converted to a 2 door, Oldford can tell you more as it's his friends car.

Posted

Alot of the panels on the Cresta were homemade by the previous owner.  When its present owner got it, he spent 5 years restoring it, doing all the welding and fabrication himself, the mechanical work and all of the bodywork and painting.  The  car is like new and is real credit to his patience and hard work.  The interior is just as good as the exterior, which has been retrimmed in soft leather.

Looks like a great night Trig. I would normally think that the black and red Jag looked shit but with a BAD numberplate, WTF else are you going to do with it? I would have side exhausts and sell crack out of the muthafucka!

Yo pop makers!, I organised another one of my car meets this morning at a 1950's style diner near Colchester, I'd never been to the diner before but I'm not one to turn down a fry up, which was bloody lovely too, massive plate full of sausages, eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, beans, tomato and mushrooms all for £5, can't grumble at that.

Anyway it wasn't the biggest meet ever due to the time of year, many people have there classics on sorn and it was raining first thing which didn't help but there was a nice turn out never the less.

A few of us meet up at the local Tesco's for a convey down, That's Oldfords mint Sierra there, the 63 Fairlane was running a bit hot and gassd me out on the drive down the A12.

A older chap from Thetford, which is about 60 miles away, came down in this lovely 1970 XJ6 4.2.

Never thought I would see the day when a mark 4 cortina was considered to be a classic. Quite possibly the worst car I ever owned, and something would literally fall off it every week.

That Silver Sierra is really very nice. I'm really starting to get the horn on for early Sierras.

Lord Sierra doesn't have the same ring to it, though...

Also, Fox Racing wheels on a foxbody - intentional? :-D

Get one mo you won't regret it

May I suggest the username Lord jellymould-ghia

Some cool Cars there trig

I think if Lord Sterling got a jellymould we'd have to rename him Senor Sierra.  The Jag is excellent for being that grey-brown colour, I'm sure a Dulux colour chart would call it Harvest Mushroom or something.  The red 'tina is also lovely, especially with the matching slot mags.

I like that shape of MUstang a lot. I had an orange Corgi one and a bigger Police Bburago one as a kid.

Yo! Just got home from our best meet yet, absolutely jaw dropping amount of cars came along, I was so proud!.

Here's a selection of cars that came.

"Oldford" of this parish came in this amazing Capri Turbo Technics Cabriolet belonging to his boss, he'll tell you more but it's only just came back on the road after a 20 year break.

This 205 was a monster, it's running a 306 GTi-6 engine and gearbox but bored out to a 2.1 and with a pretty impressive set of trumpets under the hood.

Looks like it's going from strength to strength, congratulations.

Any pics of the Suncream Locust?

Cheers, I never took a photo of the Sumbeam for some unknown reason, there was a few cars I missed annoyingly but a mate did get a photo of it.

A properly triumphant evening. I only bowed out before ten 'cos my phone had done a Samsung and her indoors didn't know where I was.

Brilliant turnout, though, and I look forward to meeting and chatting to more folk on further visits. Nice to meet Adam with the Volvo (who, it seems, has an impressive chodfleet tucked away) and my mate Alex with the Porsche. It's for sale, you know....

Very excellent work Triggles.

It's always funny to see an Aussie Ford or Holden in British pictures - just looks out of place, though no different to old American cars, I suppose. That HZ ute looks tidy and doesn't seem too expensive at £6500 (thanks for the hi-res pictures, Trig!). Looks to have WB Statesman wheels on, which I could give or take, personally. Being the HZ, it should supposedly be far superior to previous models handling-wise, what with its Radial Tuned Suspension (!) and associated badge mounted proudly on the dash.

I'd say something about great photos but the phrase is getting a bit monotonous!

This looks a good meet. Will try to get to the next one, if I'm not working.

Anyone local who's free, the next one's on tonight if you fancy it. There's a few Autoshiters going too.

Posted

Not going to make it tonight unfortunately - only just got in from work, and sat nav reckons if I left now I wouldn't get there till gone 9 - and that's without getting stuck behind any Tesco lorries on the A140.  Will have to drool over the 190E another time.

This does look good, wish it wasn't about eight hours away from me...

I'm afraid it's a "I'm sorry, I'm hopeless" from me, too. I'll be at the next one, 4sho'.

Is anyone from here popping along to this tomorrow? Unfortunately I've lent the Maestro to my dad so I can't bring that, but could bring the Somerset.

Posted

It would be good if you could come along Dicky! We have a few 'shitters that come along now, Wuvvum, Oldford, Dugoug & Spottedlaurel as well as Earl.

This will probably be our last evening meet for the year as the nights are drawing in now as I think there's going to be a good turn out.
