oh and the edit button dont work

 6 reposts.....

Think that was a problem on the old forum too, something to do with the language in your preferences being set to English UK rather than English US. Don't know if this one's the same, might be worth trying it.

Dunno if anyone's reported this but I'm not initially getting a cursor when I try to edit a post or quote (using IE8).

If I press 'Return', the first line of the post / quote moves down, so the invisible cursor has apparently been sitting at the start of the first line. Clicking elsewhere in the text does not show or move the cursor, it just stays in its invisible position at the start of the first line. But once I press 'Return' the cursor appears and can be moved by clicking elsewhere in the text.

Odd, this.

is it stil possible to edit the topic title?

Posted

Yes, you just have to use the full editor.

I'm getting used to this new forum, and quite like it already.  Well done Dave, you've done a top job.

You can now use Tapatalk to access Autoshite on your mobile, you have to purchase app from android or Iphone but it is cheap

Tapatalk is useful too.

You're doing great stuff Dave, thanks again.

Is it possible for you to remove the "Reply to this topic" box from the bottom of all pages (except the last one of each topic)? I feel if is at the bottom of every page, it encourages people to reply without reading the whole topic, and that's VERY annoying. Please have a look at that, but only when you have time of course! Ta!

Good point Joe.

Wow.

According to the figure on the "Forum" tab, autoshite has 16,705 members - taking up 836 pages in the Members tab.

I've just used the fancy search filters in the members tab, and discovered that only 40 pages' worth of members have posted 3 or more times. That's no more than 800 active members...!

So there are just under 16,000 probable spam accounts lying dormant in the database.

I intend to prune them somewhat when things have settled a but,did delete about 500 spammers this morning.

Posted

Yep, you did mention that the management had been contacted re. pruning.

I was just shocked at the sheer numbers...!

Don't mind me, just trying to work out how to insert pixchures into a post.

Did that work?

or is it that one?

I'm cutting and pasting the  'Direct' and then trying the 'IMG' code from Photobucket for an image, and for the 'Direct' code the image appears in my message, but then I'm getting a pop up message box  after I click 'post' that says 'An error occurred, you are not allowed to use that image extension on this community'

Obviously I can't post a screen grab to elaborate. Any clues? I have looked for a guide on how to post images, honest.

Sorry, it's my first day.

I right click on the picture I want to upload, then click "copy image URL" back back on here then where there's a little picture of a window and tree above i paste that code into the box that comes up.

I am on Google Chrome though which is quite easy to use.

You need to grab the [ img ] code from Photophucket, not the direct. Just paste the [ img ] code into your message. Job done.

That sounds really easy. No wonder I'm struggling...

This board works differently. I think a URL is automatically converted into one. When typing, look above where the words appear and there's a picture button. Press that, paste the photo link, hit the button and job's done. I do prefer the IMG tag thing myself, so usually just end up typing them myself.

Me too, but it's a bit like driving a car that still has a manual gearbox.

I had that issue with the FF spellchecker too. This forum seems to switch it off by default somehow.

Go into the Firefox menu and select tools-options-advanced and make sure the 'check spelling as I type' box is checked, then, reply to a post and right click on the reply box while the cursor is directly over text and you'll see 'languages' in the menu. Select whichever one you want and that should sort it.

Just found this thread on page 2

Since the change of site I am no longer receiving e mail notifications for topics I have posted on or "follow". Cant seem to be able to assign a topic to the notifications bit either. :-? :-?

What am I doing wrong???

Can I report that everything seems to be working just fine for me? Of course I realise  have just jinxed myself, but still... :)
