Now that got your attention didn't it!

Maybe not quite what you were thinking, but this is my latest buy:

Bought from my very good friends over at Essex Daf. No T&T as yet but this is in hand. 1100cc Daf 66. Runs well, stops well, has some wiring foibles and needs a good service. Collection tale to follow when MOT'd at some point soon'ish.

Nice one! Looking forward to some rubber band engine shots.

My grandfather had one of those in the same color - I remember the thing sounded like a shotgun going off when the variomatic band let go one day.

Very nice, we like these. Looking forward to the full story.

That looks thoroughly rubbish, slow and dangerous in equal measures. I like it a lot.

L-O-L and plus one.

That looks gr9 - tax exempt next year?

I was toying with the wagon version of one of these to fulfil my estate quota. I've still not driven a variomatic.

Great stuff. They're not slow with the 1108cc lump in them, and just as fast backwards!

Nice.

I can't imagine an 1108cc DAF being slow either, although I've never been in one. My 746cc 33 was a bit out of its depth on national speed limit roads, but this has 67% more power so would imagine it should be reasonably capable.

The used car dealer it was once sold by is still in business, albeit in Hainault nowadays:

I wonder if they have an old ledger with details about its sale somewhere? D

Top purchase! Looking forward to seeing much more of this! 8)

Whoaaa! Top AS praise, cheers folks.

My recently sold 33 was very nippy indeed and would happily pop along on the motorway. The 66 feels even peppier but I haven't driven it much more than around the farmyard.

Everyone has to have a go of a Daf at least once in their lives. They are really underrated but prices are slowly creeping up. Yep, tax exempt from next yr. :D:D
