With that thing you'll be the envy of all the guys delivering parcels for yodel piled high in meganes and whatnot. Best of luck with the engine management stuff!

What donk does it have? We've got a newer one at work and it's RAPID due to its 1.9-ness

Posted

Its a 1.9, non-turbo though so i'm not expecting much rapidity. Having said that if you mash the throttle it revs up as quick as a little fiat 127 or something, (as long as the EML is off, arf arf) pretty remarkable for a diesel.

Seems cheap enough, chief. Is it on the 'hit list' and needing one of those VIC check things? Whatevs, looks firmly in the 'can't go wrong' price bracket.

Ha ha nice one Testes.

Mustard mitt, I do see the appeal of a semi-modern beat up van to bez about in, and to be generally anti-social.

Posted

I placed an 'offer' on this last week, just cos I fancied it.

Never got any response from the seller and it expired. So then on Sunday I upped it a little bit and tried again. Again no response. So, i forgot about it and went and bought this Doblo. Checked my eBay last night - 'The seller has accepted your offer, please pay now' BOLLOCKS!

I am gonna ring the seller and see if I can pay for it by paypal as i have absolutely no money having just bought this Doblo! If he says no i'm fooked, but if he says OK then I will get it and will have to park it up till I can afford the HG set it needs. TYPICAL INNIT.

It doesn't say you can't buy it via Paypal and he's got zero feedback so there'd be sod all he could do if you did, as ebay will have told him he has to accept it as payment anyhow.

A kwality tale of shite vanning.

I wouldn't mind that Rover van although christ knows how I'd get it up here.

Well I spoke to the rover van dude and that should be coming up to join the gang next week sometime. NB. The seller reckons the drivers door lock is jammed, anyone know a way of getting into one of these Rovers without a key? The tailgate is jammed as well bizarrely and the passenger door has no key slot. IDEAL

As for the Duplo, I a-framed it home tonight like a winner. ONe thing I noticed is, I've only got one key for it. It starts the engine and locks the doors OK (no C/L though as far as I can tell) but is not a red key. Does anyone know if getting a duplicate key will be a massive ballache/impossible task? I dont seem to have the security card doofus either.

I've done 2k in the Dispatch Combi - it's a nifty wee bus - I'd recommend one to anyone now! Love the driving height and the space for dogging in comfort!

The garage I rent my lockup off had a MG ZR in with that problem and they had to take an air chisel to the lock in the end. If it's the same problem it'll not open by pulling the interior door handler. They had a piss laugh getting the door card off.

Do these late Rovers not have the funky two button remote locking / immobiliser fob thingy?

Posted

Yes I think they do, but this Rover has been parked up and the battery is totally flat

Posted

In that case would it not be easier to try and get the bonnet open (if necessary with some Philibusmo-style dismantling) and whack some jump leads on it to wake the electrics up?

I think you can get duplicate keys made up for Fiats, but you can't programme them to the car without the master key, so you'll have to pay a main dealer or someone with the appropriate software to do it for you.

What you could try is jack the n/s front up high enough to reach under and stick one jump lead to the gearbox and the live to the starter cable that would then power up the van.

The fob might need resyncronising after being unused for a while.what i have had success with in the past is splitting the fob and removing the battery, then holding both buttons down for a few seconds, refit the battery and aim at the car while holding either button down and more often than not they kick into life.

Otherwise airbag/wedge the passenger door frame and try and pull the lock button...

/\ was about to suggest the same thing

Should do. If the seller didn't put this in the ad, it would give you a legitimate excuse for pulling out of the deal.

hows it going with the vans, any updates mate? be interested to know if you got into the rover in the end?

It doesn't say in the listing that there a no keys. Therefore not as described and you are off the hook.

Its got keys! But the locks are jammed and the c/l does not work as the battery is flat. Anyway I want it, I'm not looking for an excuse to welch out!

That little Rover is great - these are definitely going to be the Herald Courier of the future - put in garage, unearth in many years time and own the star of the 2035 Classic Motor Show!

Doblo's don't need or have a red master key bol.

I think fiats from about 2000 lost the red key nonsense. Certainly the w reg punto convertible the wife has doesn't need one.

Sod that fugging about, you can by a complete replacement tailgate for fack-all, just brick the rear window and scamper in.
