Anyone know of any cheap diesel Berlingo-type vans knocking about? By cheap I mean about £6-700 or less. Don’t mind if it’s a van or car-type version, also don’t mind a bit of fettling if some is needed although not ‘engine swap’-level fettling. Berlingo, partner, Fiat Doblo, Transit connect (they seem pretty expensive mind you), maybe a Kangoo though I am not sure if I am strong enough spiritually to own a semi-modern Renault TBH. Anyone know of owt?

I have a work pal who has just replaces his P reg diesel Fiat Ducato van with a newer van. Bit tatty but hajust has a new injector pump and brakes. Has loads of welding for its last MOT a few months ago. Its a swb low top. I think he wants about £700 but I think hel come down. He's owned it from new too!

I was offered an ex forestry commision berlingo on an 02 plate the other night for 2 hunna bar. Don't think it had any mot left thought. I can find out more if you like

I just noticed he's also selling the van next to it which is the MG ZR TD Van. Pretty hopeless size wise if you want to carry anything bigger than a toaster.

sounds interesting.... MOAR INFO PLZ

Had a chat with the guys mate about blingy van and the story goes.

Once upon a time a lazy twat van owner couldn't be bothered to change his cambelt and it snapped wrecking engine, they sourced another engine and fitted it but it smokes like a futher mucker

Then said lazy twat parked it up and bought another van hence no tax or test now,

Sounds like the cheapskate bought a dodgy engine so fook knows what the rest of the vans like. I could pop over and have a looksy in the flesh if you like.

Sounds like a load of grief I’m afraid Garb, thanks for asking but AH’M OOT on that one. Meggers’ Doblo looks ideal, I’m just embroiled in a psychological battle with Ms_Ba11s about it now

I might still go and have a look at it just to take the piss out the guy for being a cheapskate then offer him a ton for it

As for the psychological battle with the misses, I have found that the best way to overcome any problems is just buy it anyway without telling her, as far as my misses is concerned I only have the 5 vehicles, that's because she has no idea I've got them stored all over the place  works for me

Those Doblo's are pretty nice to drive my father in law had a 04 plate 1.3 multijet which was a decent car and my old work had a Y reg 1.7 Diesel Van, that was painfully slow though, not a patch on the 1.3 MJ engine.

Bo11ox should definitely get one of those, but with the mega-shite Lombardini 1.2 diesel option.

My neighbour over the road has one of those - horrifically noisy, almost dangerously slow and he reckons he gets about 35mpg out of it. So definitely has shite credentials.

I'm getting rid of my smaller Ducato - 51 plate MWB low top, LEZ compliant, 1.9 TD. Only got a month's T&T left on it though and will probably need a bit of weldage for its next test. Might be a bit too big / far away too.

We've a Citroen Pisspatch coming in tomorrow, all I know is it a 1.9d so far, will post updates if you are interested?

A neighbour had a Doblo just like that and he loves it. I quite fancy one actually, Ideal combination of family space and shite haulage capabilities.

I like those, but theyre probably a bit big/slow (its an NA diesel right?) for what i'm after TBH, i'm likely to be commuting in it 2 hrs a day. I was too slow on Megdog's Doblo and someone else has bought it so still looking....

I think a Berlingo or Partner HDi would be a great thing, they're basically like a 306/ZX van underneath.

Ok it's a green v reg dispatch, no mot at the moment, but I can sort that out, the clocks show 89k but they have been replaced at some point.

It's a 1.9td, the is no history with it and the clutch is heavy. It'll need a few bits for a ticket, I will get pics on Monday if you want me to?

Sounds like a possibility RuffG, although i just brushed off kinkers Dispatch van didnt I so it looks like I don't have a clue what i'm doing. MOAR INFO PLZ

To be fair Bo11, going on my experience with Ducatoxerelays there's a hell of a difference between turbo and non-turbo 1.9s - the NA 1.9 I borrowed off a mate a year or two back was almost dangerously sluggish, my current 1.9 turbo is actually quite nippy - I can overtake stuff in it and everything. Would imagine the Dispatch would be a similar scenario, with a TD van being a much more pleasant thing to commute in than a NA.

Well i've bought a van today, and its this one:

Its a pretty honest old tank but needs a front pipe and a headlight and a good clean inside. Engine runs lovely although once when i started it the engine management light came on and it would not rev up!!! However it was fine the other 9 times so whatever it is can't be that horrific, I suspect its summert to do with the blowing exhaust pipe. I'll plug my mate's diagnostic gizmo in it if it doesnt clear up.

Paid 650 quid, i dont know if thats a barg or not but it seemed fair to me for an 03 plate and the guy, although a trader seemed a straight kind of fella and was a fan of low-profile A-frameage activities so that put him in my good books straight away.

I am quite enthusiastic about it TBH, i'll get wor cat to sit in with us and travel round looking like fuggin Postman Pat all day
