Zaporozhets, Skoda vans, Volvo 240 - all cheap

This is the motoring equivalent of colonic irrigation.

All the following shitbangers are in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Offers and swaps are always considered...

Rat-look Zaporozhets 968M - £300

Actually, it's a strange mashup of a 968A and a 968M... with bonus Wartburg 353 rear lights.

It's not quite as bad as it looks.

It apparently spent most of its life outside a museum in Germany. Perhaps as a result, there are various scabs and rusty holes dotted around the body, but the underside is pretty good. Little welding would be needed for an MoT.

I'm told it was running and driving a few years ago. Someone's since nicked the brake master cylinder and carburettor. I've tracked down a decent-looking example of the latter - included.

The ultimate in modern luxury motoring... the strength of a bicycle, the speed of a tractor, the sporting elegance of a BelAZ 548.

Volvo 240 Torslanda - £150

2-litre EFI; 5-speed manual.

Full-blown pikey-look, with odd wings, a few scrapes here-and-there and a nasty gash in the front passenger's door.

The clutch is on its last legs, the exhaust's blowing a bit and the rear shock absorbers need replacing. I've nicked the wheels and tyres, but can offer a choice of standard steel rims or GLT alloys with legal (but not necessarily very good) tyres.

Otherwise, it's alright. Not rusty and never welded. Excellent mechanically. Very good interior with an excellent level of blueness. The course-knit texture of Torslanda seats really does it for me. Ooohhh...

It was on the road until a few months ago, when the MoT ran out.

Skoda Favorit Forman Plus - £300

Possibly the last RHD example left. It runs and drives, but it has no brakes. The body needs a fair bit of attention.

Skoda Octavia van - £600

Again, quite possibly unique in RHD form. Requires complete restoration, though it's not quite as rotten as it looks. The interior's surprisingly good.

That Zaporozhets has the best aircooled V4 engine ever made, although also the only aircooled V4 :?

You must be feeling cleansed, Sam? Let me know when the Anadol needs a new home!

This thread makes me think of:-

I may know someone for the Octy van. He's a Skoda main agent who likes restoring the odd bit of weirdness.

Will ask next week.

I love that Zap thing! Would it be tax exempt when registered here?

Iam very tempted by the Torslander. Trouble is I am getting anpther landliner so getting a bit short of room/money with it being after xmas. How long have I got?

Hey Sam - if you get fed up with the Bond 875, give me a shout :lol:

Phwoar! Love the Octavia van massively (and the Zap)! Oh why is Wiltshire so bloody far away? Would love the Octavia and could swap a carb 2.8 Granada auto for it but Wiltshire is a looong way from Essex when neither vehicle has tax and MOT, but the Granny does run!

It ain't bad. It's on a C plate, in metallic blue so it is a facelift version. Some scabs on the rear arches but no way near as bad as some and a couple of blebs by the rear screen. Loads of spares, some steelies to move it round on and 4 bloody good tyres for the alloys. New battery too. Looking around £550 ovno given the car and the amount of bits including various relays, etc. Has a tow bar fitted as well. Can't recall the mileage but it is not intergalactic.

Gotta be for resto though, nowt else mind, too good for the track.

Obviously no tax or MOT but it was running. Needs a good service/recommissioning. 'Tis living in Essex (not far from Colchester). Can PM pics if seriously interested.

Cheers

What would the spares situation be like for the Octavia van? Pretty horrific I would imagine or am I wrong?

2nd dibs on the Anadol!

& also 2nd dibs on the 875, because my life will be empty and meaningless until I can replicate this image on my drive

I can guarantee you that an Octavia van like that is rare as rocking horse poo even here in the Czech Rep.

The Favourit van is rare enough too. Been here a year and seen maybe 2 like that in that time. Most are pick ups with a plastic roof.

Have a bump for your epic motors anyway.

Glorious progress and achievements! The Zapo and the Favorit have found Stakhanovite new owners. May they sternly struggle to achieve their mechanical realignment and return them to the service of the workers' collective with Chollima speed!

RedSparrow: if you know any Czech perverists who might fancy the Octavia, I'll happily dump it at their door in exchange for a good TAZ 1203 or a Tatra Beta.

Volvo Torslanda and Alfa 164 prices reduced to £149.99.

I must add my voice to the Octavia Wanting Choir, though obviously can do nothing about acquiring it, let alone getting it back on the road as would be my wont. Good luck with finding it and the Volvotorslandatank new homes, they are worthy indeed.

Did I spy a Yugo 311 in the background of 1 of the photos?

Would that be available?

Disappointingly, the Czechs seem to loathe their old cars, I guess because they're associated with the old regime (which they seem to be gradually democratically re-electing at the moment oddly). I've seen basically no classic car following and all the old motors are driven by old people and mocked by everyone else. They have all opted for the decadent new Skodas and other VAG products. Traitors.

However, should I ever meet anyone with an interest I expect they would be interested in such a rarity.

Well that was a shit effort. I managed less than 24 hours without a Zapo. I was working on my tax return yesterday, so I had to spend a lot of time looking at cars on the internet. Result: http://allegro.pl/zaporozec-zaz-968a-le ... 13074.html

It's a 311 ZLM Mediteran to be exact. But no, I'm afraid it's not for sale.

Shit the bed. If I was in a position to start another project I'd be well up for the Zaph or the Octavia. I couldn't guarantee they'd stay particularly standard but I could guarantee I'd make sure they stayed looking the same and I'd drive the arse off them.

I will have the 240 if its still for sale ?

R U A BANGA RAICA?

Hey Sam, have you told Scooters this is back up for sale? I am surprised he has not bought it back?
