cros Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 There's nothing classier than a van based hearse. The FX4 with a smokey 2.2 diesel would be another fine way to depart. Supernaut, Asimo and somewhatfoolish 3

bunglebus Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I absolutely love a hearse, shame so many get bangered. I've spotted a few, this Merc came in for service but I wasn't allowed to take it for a rip. Modern ones have way too much glass area anyway. sierraman Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Wow, nothing says paupers funeral like a Seat Malaga. The stretch Granada's were by Woodall Nicholson, usually where they were added seats in them. Not necessarily funeral trade, could be big families or a taxi. Alusilber 1

JeeExEll Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Interesting thread revival, had forgotten all about this one.Which means I'll have to start right back at the beginning again Haven't checked but I don't think we've had this one yet.Camera-bloke seems to like it. danthecapriman, 11001010, bunglebus and 2 others 5

panhard65 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I just found one of those bonnet plinths under the seat of my hearse. There are no holes in the bonnet so it might not be from my car. Mine does have a bloody great cross on the roof instead. puddlethumper, Asimo, bunglebus and 4 others 7

Talbot Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 IIRC RichardK of this parish has a carlton hearse, which is often used as a general use vehicle. My favourite story was him describing using it to take some rubbish to the tip, so he wrapped a load of it up in bin bags to look like a body, took it there in the hearse and then slung it in the general waste bin. Many rather concerned looks from others! eddyramrod 1

It ended its days on the oval! Ford Windsor Estate Brochure by Kieran White, on Flickr Edit: they generally weren't hearses but some were used by funeral directors as accompanying limos. sierraman 1
JeeExEll Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 1972 hearse by Dormobile. Based on the 4-door saloon (obv) rather than the "fastback-1256cc" 2-door estate. 11001010, danthecapriman, warren t claim and 1 other 4

Distinctive 1256cc engine note, then... "May choirs of tappets sing you to your rest" Same Honey Starmist shade as my old 2-dr, too. Low Horatio gearbox and JeeExEll 2

Datsuncog Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Wow, that's amazing! If it was built to be shipped out to Bermuda or some such, I wonder if it still exists, somewhere... I see the pic from the Old Classic Car site shows the rear end treatment, when opened out to full view. Personally, I think we might have a three-way tie between this Viva, the Simca 1100 and the Seat Malaga for the Ultimate Shiter Hearse trophy (with honourable runner-up mentions for the B3 Passat and Astra Mk3)
sierraman Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Wow. The sound of the 1256cc rattling away as it pulls you up to the crematorium. Wonderful. greengartside, warren t claim and Datsuncog 3

Datsuncog Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Have we had this one yet? Look at the workmanship* involved in getting that line from the rear door just perfect*. somewhatfoolish 1
