You made a mistake there. It's spelt 'cunt', not 'car nut'.

I used to think that, but having starting listening to him on Radio2, my mind is totally changed, he has so much enthusiasm for all sorts of old shite, he recently bought a vintage tractor without even knowing how to start it.

Who wouldn't love to have that sort of lifestyle where you can afford to indulge those daft ideas, he was on about buying the Queen's old landrover until the cheeky sods chucked it in an auction because he spoke about it on the radio.

The picture above with the Humber looks photoshopped to me.

This one doesn't:

He posted on his twitter:

Just went to view an AMDB5 Shooting Break. Bloke sold it an hour B4. So I bought a 1965 Humber Sapphire Snipe

There you go, he's used 'txt tlk' so he can fuck right off.

What the bloody heck is a Humber Sapphire Snipe?

I did read he gave away something like £130m of his £180m fortune as he thought it was too much but he was still going to keep more than any person should ever need. If he did indeed do it, hats off to the fucker.

Invite him on.... tell him about our "Ethos" of buying old shit and keeping it going using a ball of string and a cabbage leaf. Some of us do it because we have to, some do it out of choice. The thing is, we all "do it". We love these mediocre, unloved, bland vehicles, we look wistfully into the past, wishing to have been the age we are NOW, but back then. In 1973, it would have been possible to have a car park with something in it from the previous 5 decades, and there was no real snobbery. People didn't turn their noses up at someone because their car was old... They may have done it for Celtic fans though.

I like the bloke. Didn't he buy the Dunlop Bridge recently?

yes and no, the ethos here can be as questionable as his taste in spectacles

the ethos tends to be that any car that costs over £140 is "salty" and then once owned it is "blezzed about" and then when the tax runs out or they get offered a maestro by an aunt giving up driving it gets "sent over the bridge"

at least he will spend money on whatever he buys and it will be around for future generations to enjoy

405 seller should be on here

Chris Evans on here why not ?

Seen him on a programe a few years ago when on the spur of a moment bet his Jag against a punter on the programe and they won it and he did look genuinly gutted .

Best of luck to him he's got the loot and living the dream with cars and women

Diddnt he recently buy the dunlop bridge facia's from Donnington ?

and he was/is better on the radio than chris moyles

Am ijust jellous ? hell yes

Posted

If he does sign up he ought to do it under a pseudonym though, otherwise he'd be pestered with people wanting pics of Billie Piper with her tits oot over the bonnet of a Fiat Strada in the 'shameless cars & girls' thread.

A lime green Strada please, Chris... :D

Posted

Yes I hope he joins up, he is qualified to be here as he likes old cars and he is ginger.

Posted

Lets not get too carried away here. A guinea pig being force fed helium as it was being stroked by a power saw would sound better than Chris Twatting Moyles on the radio.

Not a patch on Terry Wogan I have to say but whatever ;)

Nobody anywhere is a patch on Terry Wogan!

Really? If that's true I take back what I said earlier. That's a very decent thing to do. I still find him irritating on the radio though!

Sign him up, good publicity for the "unique" kind of vehicles and persons on here!

I disgree, Ken Bruce is the best Radio 2 D.J, although I don't mind Chris Evans, he's better then anyone else on at that time of morning.

+1

You never know, the chod save rate might suddenly go mental if he joins here. I could just picture barns full of interesting 60's. 70's and 80's unloved tin, basic run of the mill cars not fucked about with by people turning them into OMG Cooper/Rally/Gumball replicants. Plus he seems to get an awful lot of rather attractive minge and perhaps he can give us some tips....

and he was/is better on the radio than chris moyles

+111111

That said there are amoeba at the bottom of the Marianas Trench that are better on the radio than Chris Moyles.

If we allow Evans, we should also allow DLT - after all, he had the modified London-proof Allegro and Ed Straker's car off UFO in his collection.

Posted

If memory serves he has owned a standard 8 van so I would say so.

Another DJ vote for Ken Bruce BTW, who himself aught to contribute at least to the bus shite thread as last month when Chris Evans handed over to him it emerged he owns about 8 buses!

What's with all the Radio 2 love...how bloody old are you lot??:shock::shock:

Cheggers (age 47-and-a-half)

Ken Bruce is the radio equivalent of an Austin Princes...hang on...as you were
