With the outrageous amount of dosh being flashed about for AVO Escorts at present, I present the future shite - Mondeo Si's with factory RS bodykits (but not RS turbo alloys!) Spotted on the canvey promanade what a beast eh, I should have snapped the Lambert and butler Scroat-look interior.

I think, that seeing as all the stella swilling block pavers have gone looney over Mk1 and Mk2's, the'll be snapping these up for their white stilleto wearing spouses soon.. bet tidy ones of these will start going for silly money....

I don't think any of the Si type stuff will be worth anything, and doubt that any of the Mk3 / 4 Escrots that aren't RS will be worth much. XR3is will have some 'oooh' factor if they're standard, Mk5 RS2000 'bubble bonnet' jobs will be worth having if they've got floorpans, Escort Cosworth will always be worth money as will the RS1600i. Focus RS is a given, Mondeo ST220 possibly, ST200 doubtful - but the estate one might be worth something.Puma Racing is a definate, as is probably the Puma 1.7. Fiesta Zetec-S possibly in a "Supersport" kind of way.StreetKa will only be worth money to perverts. SportKa will probably fetch half decent money as they're fun to drive.I suspect that absolutely mint 3dr Focus Zetec Mk1's might be a good idea.

Aye, it'll probably be the 'sportier' type Fords that will see big money in future. I'd imagine the Mk5 RS2000 will be up there, though nowhere near in the league of stuff like Mk1/2 Escorts.Personally speaking I'm not a fan of the Mundano ST series. Give me a Vectra Super Touring any day, especially the first ones with the Irmscher decals.

Mondeo ST220 possibly, ST200 doubtful - but the estate one might be worth something.

Is one that much better than the other then?What about ST170 Focus & ST150 Fiesta?Mk1 XR2's are already collector's items......Mk2 XR2's must be heading that way. What about Mk3 XR2i's? Decent ones are certainly thin on the ground now, but they're not coveted like the more Glamorous RS types. The Sierra XR's aren't stupid money at the moment either. Sierra / Escort Cosworth's are a given......what about the Scorpios? They were a very desirable thing back in the day. An E or F reg Mk3 Granada Scorio in black or 24v Cosworth.....mmmmmm What were the tastiest Mk2 Grannies? Ghia X? Have they reached the dizzy heights yet? (as much as they'll ever do)

Mark 5 Escort RS 4x4's will be good money I reckon.

I was reading this post from the start & was going to suggest these,as a mate has an N reg one & reckons there were only a few hundred made,but you beat me to it :) .Also,what about a Sierra 4x4 2.8 GLS,can't remember the last time I saw one of those.Then there's the later Sierra 4x4 with the 2.0 engine,don't think they sold many of those.Lastly(for now)how about the MK 3/4 Escort van version of the 3-door estate.

Most Mk2 Grannies have already been snaffled for the racers. I bet the 2.8iS models will be worth a few quid soon though and probably later Ghia X models too.

I've never paid more than £55 for a TRX tyre. Used to love it when people would say "Get rid of the TRX alloys" when someone bought a Mk2 Granny.I'd always offer them a straight swap for a set of 14" alloys, and always get the TRX ones in return.Suited me fine, a Mk2 Granada 2.8i should only be on TRX rims. People who put them on 14"s deserve to be hung, drawn, quartered, shot, fed to piranhas, electrocuted, shredded with rusty blades and fed to aids ridden lepers.The same people who used to put 14" wheels on 2.8i Grannys tended to be the same people who bought white 1.6 Capri Lasers and fitted them with Richard Grant bodykits.Speaking of which, have you noticed that absolutely nobody will admit to having fitted one of those bloody gruesome kits to a Capri in the 80's?

The name of the company is RGM for Richard Grant Mouldings, company owner was Richard Grant. He came to see me a few years ago when I needed a plastic radiator cowl for a production run of Perkins engines as they did lots of vacuum formed panels.

 

I asked him about the strength of the parts and he said that all his manufactured parts could withstand being put on a car going 150mph. I so nearly asked if they dropped a lot of Capris out of aeroplanes :oops:

Nearly all Fiesta RS turbos have been bastardised beyond belief now, they've been worth more in bits for a long time so nice ones will be mega £££ in ten years. (see prices of stock standard Escort turbos for comparison)Fiesta RS1800 might become a bit sought-after as apparently they only built about 490-odd RHD 1992-95 although I reckon that's bollocks judging by how often I see them around, admittedly they are easily replicated due to their general unremarkableness/similarity to XR2i.

You weren't based at the Perkins factory in Harlescott by any chance were you?

I don't 'get' the whole Ford thing at all, and why Britain is so obsessed with them. Most of them weren't even built here but you get lazy hacks referring to Dagenham in almost every article about old Fords.

200's 2.5 and 202 bhp, 220's 3.0L and 225hp but weighs more. depends if you prefer the passat-esque styling of the newer car. I actually quite like the booted and estate 200, but can leave the hatch.....St200's still fetch good money at the mo, the 220 being post 2001 gets hammered by VED come 2010....so expect prices to nosedive.

:oops: I have one and know what you mean......I didn't go out of my way to have a 'retro' Ford though, it wasn't even retro when I bought it.As much as I like my car, there are other 70's cars I would prefer to own....most of them cost a lot less too!

I think old Festers are pretty cool, haven't been afflicted by the 'Ford tax' too much either.I just think Fords are a bit over-hyped...

I reckon the MK1 Mondeo V6 will become a rare treasure. Somewhat deserved too, they drive really nicely.
