What's the relevance of the green bit on the rev counter? I see this a lot on commercials and did wonder.

Generally means that is the torque/power band... keep it in the green for best results.

The black bits are the secret bits where the GLF is stored..

7.5k ______________ on the Mazda!!!

It'll probably be a 2.0-litre K Series V6. My MX-3's 1.8 would spin to 7300 without hurting itself (and sounding incredible). Drank fuel like a sod, mind.

Bugger - looks gloomier than it is thanks to snide phone camera.

Just a 1.8. But that is plenty for a small car. Rebuilt after the oil rings collapsed, a usual Mazda fault.

You know what, I'd forgotten how cool the Rover dash looks at night with its floodlit instruments and complicated HVAC do-hickery.

The Audi looks like it's from the future by comparison, and there are seven dials on the cluster (if you include the clock) as well as two LCDs. Too much, really.

I did the dashboard lighting on hundreds of cars on an XBox game recently, I loved doing that - checking where/what colour all the bulbs are in the back, youtube video research etc

(fading night/headlight on -> day/headlight off):

I remember driving mine into work at an indicated -12 degrees kelvin or whatever - and STILL feeling warm from the glow of the dials.

Oh. One tip tho. Once you see the anologue clock reflecting in the windscreen, you can never UNsee it. So don't look.

The fuel in it is probably worth nearly what this thing is worth.

This dash has two options, one where the steering wheel position blocks the speedometer, the second is where the steering wheel blocks all the lower dash warning lights...

The japs have always been pretty good with the funky dashes over the years haven't they?
