Magnificent Rustbucket Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 It's a wonder you can see where you're going with a head up display as big as that! Noel Tidybeard, barefoot, Cardinal Wolseley and 1 other 4

Guest Conan Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Only night dash pic I got at the moment. Nothing remarkable. (My speedo overreads, obviously). Squire_Dawson, michael t, Lacquer Peel and 4 others 7
Crispian_J_Hotson Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 You say that but, 7413 is only my bloody pin number! Marm Toastsmith 1
GeordieInExile Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Oooooh, as a Saab driver this is the thread for me... I'll get a Night Panel pic later.
bolognasal spray Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Here's my latest contribution. IMG_20180624_222736.jpg 1973 AC Model 70. Given how crude the setup is I'm surprised how effectively the speedometer is lit to be honest. It's far from even, but is perfectly legible. Aarrghh...my eyes...must find sanctuary in...total...darkness...*sob*... *claps hands over eyes and sees detailed bone structure of fingers*
Guest Conan Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 You say that but, 7413 is only my bloody pin number! Your security is at risk then! Your information is safe now. Your pin number isn't on my dashboard anymore! Crispian_J_Hotson 1
Tadhg Tiogar Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 20180912_204920.jpg That is so reminiscent of those big wooden-cased wartime radio wireless sets...…"This is the BBC from Broadcasting House in London....." PhilA 1
willswitchengage Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Tried to do a bit of research into why all Japanese vehicles seemed to use the same typeface for a while. Seems 'New Gothic' was just pretty popular over there during the dawn of the computer in the 80s/90s: https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-Japanese-equivalent-of-Helvetica I imagine the few latin fonts that supported Japanese characters probably helped too - they would have to create homegrown typefaces mat_the_cat, Lacquer Peel and Conrad D. red5 Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 The latest addition. Some sort of odd glow only visible by electronic picturegraph....
beko1987 Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Having a modern headunit that you can turn the stupid flashy bollocks off on and set to almost every hue makes it match every dash lighting I've had so far! Got a bulb out on the mfd though I think
Ohdearme Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 God damn I love Night Panel.Must be an Aero thing but in the 2.3t I've got, the fuel and boost, etc stay lit. I'm sureo nmy Aero, stuff like fuel, etc only popped on briefly when something of interest, like running out, occured. Also, have a Mondeo witha fuse blown trying to copy the Saab.
Pillock Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 I think in my 9-3 the speedo was always half lit, the fuel gauge would light up if the level was low, and I think even the rev counter would light up if you gave it beans and got close to the redline. Ohdearme 1
Ohdearme Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Knowing saab there's probably some programming that after 200,000 miles, more of the important dials stay lit, in anticipation of failure?

On my old 9-5 the speedo was half lit till you passed 80 or 85mph then it all lit up & the temp/fuel/boost cluster lit up for low fuel or a temp issue.
Pillock Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I hate seeing 1980s Casio Calculator style displays, especially where they haven't even matched the colour to anything. Doesn't even have to be a colour LCD, but plenty of cars had colour matched dot matrix twenty years ago.

Zelandeth Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Took this tonight while faffing with the jaaaaaaag, really like the dash in thisThe ignition on self test on these looks epic as well. Had forgotten the lovely colour of the backlighting though. Why do modern manufacturers find it so impossible to consistently colour the backlighting off all controls, displays etc through the car like this?
PhilA Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Only there, all the recent cars we've had have been quite harmonious at night in terms of lighting. My Jeep is illuminated by a soft grayish blue, the Silverado is all teal. I agree. Pick a color and go with it. Phil
LabRat Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Bask in the warm, orange glow of a 2013 phase 1 Dacia Duster. Complete with service light lit, cos I haven't gotten round to resetting it yet! mrbenn 1
