Formula Autos Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 We've had Estate of the Art, how about a thread featuring saloon versions of well known hatchbacks? Seperate model names such as Orion or Jetta do not qualify - saloons badged the same as the hatch only please. For example:It's almost indiscernible, but this Astra IS a saloon. Recently featured in Plactical Classics, unless I'm very much mistaken (and shamelessly nicked off Trigger's Flickr account too). It's a Fiesta Jim, but not as we know it. Daewoo avoided upscale nameplates like Belmont - this was just a Nexia saloon. Moar plz.
dollywobbler Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Saloon versions don't always work. Skoda Fabia Seemingly modelled on the Vauxhall Nova Let's be grateful that these didn't happen! Metro saloon Maxi saloon (vomit!)

Ross_K Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 A few off the top of my head... This Nissan Micra-based lump of fail, the Tiida. Driven exclusively by OAPs and fat American tourists: The Megane-based shite that is the Renault Fluence. Driven exclusively by taxi drivers it would seem. Speaking of the Megane, you had the Megane 'Classic' which spanned a couple of generations: The ZX Fukang... The C-Triomphe... Looks like a C5 that shrunk in the wash.
kinkersaab Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 These look very similar to the hatch ones...so similar, i did once get caught out....
fordpoplier Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 There was also a hatch version of this booted Chevy Nova/Corolla
Clevtrev Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Ok, so this is technically breaking the rules of having the same name, but it was marketed as the Fiesta sedan in some countries. And of british plates as well! More to follow...
Ross_K Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 What the actual fuck? Came across the photo on some french forum while I was looking for a photo of the C-Triomphe. Chinese plod are obviously a laid back bunch of guys... Here's a side view: Seems to be a recurring theme. Here's a ZX taxi that's not going to be picking up any fares:
idiotboy Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Would this count? It was a Saloon before it was converted to a hatchback? http://www.flickr.com/photos/29795076@N03/3126604452/

Spiny Norman Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Slightly O/T guys, but I'm getting this warning from my anti-virus when I view page 1 of this thread.... Probably nothing, but just so you know..... Meanwhile, have we had the Mk1 Passat yet?
Negative Creep Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Did anyone else get a malmare warning on the first page? Also, obvious from me but much nicer than the hatch version
Split_Pin Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The 104 is a new one to me. Here's the same thing from Fiat:

It's alright for me but the link suggests it's that Astra Saloon that IainL posted that's upsetting things.
idiotboy Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The 104 is a new one to me. Here's the same thing from Fiat: God that's lush, I maybe experiencing a tingle lol
idiotboy Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The Dear old Alfasod, really miss these. My Dad had a 1350 1983 1.3 SC, in black with tan interior and blue tinted windows. He loved it so did I when he gave me a lift to school. I learned to drive in it, until it caught fire . It made a lovely rasp from the exhaust. sigh.
purplebargeken Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The Astra in the first pic belongs to a good mate of mine in Coventry. Tidy little car. Ken
wuvvum Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 What the actual fuck? Given that that's a Chinese-built knock-off, I would imagine the damage was caused by a sparrow or similar landing on the roof.
