trigger Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 Every year there's a classic car run from Christchurch Park here in Ipswich to Felixstowe prom, For me this is one of the best shows of the year as you get to see so many different cars and drive in convey with 300-400 other classic vehicles to the sunny Felixstowe seafront. Sadly this years wasn't so sunny, it pissed it down all morning but that didn't stop people coming down to the park and standing on the side of the roads all the way to Felixstowe, It really is a sight too see, and it gave me good chance to play my air horns!. So here's a selection of photos i took. 1959 Standard 10 Companion Estate by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1959 Austin Healey Sprite by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Bedford CA Dormobile by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr The people outside the pub was typical of what it's like the whole 10-15 miles to Felixstowe. 1965 Ford Anglia 105E 1200 Super by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr I was behind this most of the way. 1952 Land Rover Series 1 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1984 Ford Cargo Recovery Lorry by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1969 Atlinson Viewliner Pickfords Heavy Haulage by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1958 Karrier Gamecock Fire Engine Durham Fire Brigade by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1974 Scania Super 110 Lorry by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1957 Bedford SB3 Yeates Europa Don's Coaches by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1979 DAF 2800 Turbo Intercooler Tractor Unit by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1980 Leyland National Eastern National 1924 Ruby by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1968 Land Rover Fire Tender by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1977 BMW 320 E21 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1977 BMW 320 E21 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr This 320 was for sale, 1 owner from new and only 35000 miles on the clock, it was still like new, It was up for £4495 which didn't sound too OTT to me. 1967 Leyland PD2/47 with Massey H34/28R body by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr 1958 Peerless GT by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr

eddyramrod Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Excellent work as always Trig! 1974 Scania Super 110 Lorry by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on FlickrIsn't Russell Davies the producer of Doctor Who? Now if I can take the edge off the compliment with a bit of pedantry...A 1200 Super Anglia will be a 123E not a 105E;The Sceptre was made by Humber not Hillman;A Rambler would be a Rogue not a Rouge. These aside, I'm so glad to see almost all of them out and about! This is what it's all about to me, show them off and enjoy driving them.
trigger Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 After all of these years I still suck at labeling photos!, I'm often getting corrected on Flickr too!, Nevermind! I'm glad you like them.
CYANIDE STEVE Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Fantastic photos, I really enjoyed looking though those.I'm a big fan of the PC Cresta and you managed to find two of them!
STUNO Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 1956 Chevrolet i think? by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr I think it's earlier, the one-piece windscreen places it at 1953/54. I'm struggling with the grille though, that doesn't look like a Chevy grille but I can't find another that matches it. I'm thinking Oldsmobile, probably, but it could be Pontiac. Oldsmobile got the wraparound screen for 54 which at least would help to date it. Comes to me as a '53 with those round indicators, '54 had oval indicator lights
Cheggers Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Great pics as usual Trig... 1969 Volvo 164 by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr Interestingly (to me, at least), the first car I remember my Dad owning was a Ford Cortina YGU 983G
boobydoo Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Great pics! I'm sure that Hunter is a special edition 'Topaz'. The PC Cresta appeals to me greatly. I'd love to get hold of that and give it a quaity respray...it would look the nuts. Your Cortina looks stunning in that photo! Have you posted any pics of the new seats in situ?
Split_Pin Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 More excellent pics trigger I love the Minor pic against the beach huts. I wish this was closer as I'd love to see it - such a varied selection. The DAF 2800 is superb, dont see many older ones like these even at shows. I've just noticed: You can see the headlight cowls for the lower cab on smaller engined models above the headlights on this 'high datum' model. Never noticed that before! Thanks for sharing!

The Sage Green 61 convertible turned up at our event yesterday, after the competitors had left for the road run. I therefore didn't see it until we got back for lunch. Didn't stay long either, the owner doesn't seem interested in joining-in with events. I must post up my pics...
trigger Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Just wondering, are my photos too big for some people or too many? I did expect a bit more interest and wondered if the file size was slowing peoples computers down.
M'coli Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 They tend to be too big for my screen Trig, a slightly smaller size would allow me to see more of the vehicle without having to open each image individually (and now that Firefox has updated itself to the latest version, it's not simple to do so unlike the old version I used to run) and will also help reduce the time taken to load the images.
trigger Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Thank you, the trouble is i prefer to see them in bigger size as you can see more but i wondered if that was too large for some peoples computers and phones to handle. I'll post them smaller in future.

trigger Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Was there an old dear sitting next to them frantically knitting ready to tell you about them?! Almost, but it was a old boy in a deck chair with his arms crossed half asleep, Even worse though was that the caravan next to it that had a display of old shoe polish, mints and eye shadow tins!
Guest Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 That Peugeot P4 is a G - Wagen. They were also badged as Panhards for the French Armee, as a way of keeping the flag flying without admitting they were buying military equipment off the Germans.
trigger Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Now that's interesting, I thought there was more then a passing similarity between the two, It's the kind of car I'd expect Mr Bickle to have in a lock up somewhere!
Guest Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Great pics - apart from the pt cruiser which makes me want to staple my eyes shut
Mr_Bo11ox Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Great pics!!! That looks like the classic local 'field full of mental cases' car show thats always a great day out.
RoadworkUK Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Not a Car Show for old people, by old people, by any chance? An excellent effort, nonetheless. There's something going on in Lawford soon, I mustn't forget to investigate.
trigger Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 Not a Car Show for old people, by old people, by any chance?. That would be the one!, It's on again today if your at a loose end, also of interest to you Earl is next Saturday is the Manningtree car show, You'll be able to take the Rover down there if you so wished, I'm planning on going in the afternoon but not displaying the Cortina as I'm working the night before so i won't be able to get there before 10.45am (when the gates close).
trigger Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 If any one is interested i have a list of all the local (East Anglia) car shows on this year that i can send via a email. PM me your email address if you want a copy.
RoadworkUK Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 It's Mummy RWUKs Bidet today, so we're off for a slap-up grill, but I'll deffo be at the Manningtree one; I'm working SatMorn so it'll be an afternoon thing. I'll be bringing loads of crisp fivers in case there's something monumentally shit at the autojumble that Iabsolutelycannotlivewithout. Alas, the Rover is deep in slumber at the mo, where it'll stay until the garage is clear at the new abode. I'll be in t'Audi. I think it's being held in Lawford, where the Tendring Hundred Show happens? Also: Post that list!
trigger Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 Your right, it is at Lawford but at the football club. http://www.manningtreevehicleshowrevival.co.uk/ If it's dry i'll take the Tina but just park it in the spectators field part. I can't post the list on here as it was sent to me as a PDF file hence email only!
