I love that Lacquer Peel Metallic Vauxhall used in the late 80s/90s, it's proper shite!

P6 is sweeeeeeeeeeeet and looks well cared for too.

Thema Estate iz winnar.

Would love that (but i'm an estate car pervert, i get it off my pa...)

Posted

Brilliant stuff Cats, last time I was in Ludlow I managed to snap a pic of a Red mk2 Fiesta.

Posted

That Landrover looks like it's made out of lego, and for that reason alone it's a winnar. I wonder what that excellent blue estate that kicks off this thread is, I thought it might be a Datsun, but I'm not so sure.

Colt Lancer I think.

EDIT: If you Google "Colt Lancer Estate" this exact car comes up right at the top on the image search and is the one on the Wikipedia page, must be a well known car.

It's a Colt/Mitsubishi/Lancer I think.

I used to get the Alfa serviced there and they always had something interesting around the place. I've seen a Fulvia Zagato for sale which unfortunately needed too much bodywork for me to take on, a later Delta (the mid-90s hatch) that was a customers and a Quattroporte IV which I very nearly bought. The quality of work is top-class and the wrecked Integrales are cannibalised to keep others going; the appearance of the showroom is defective.

Did you notice a white Xantia in the pub car park; they had one as a courtesy car and it had done 197,000 miles when I had it about 3 years ago. Worth taking your car there for a service just for that :)

This Cav is a repost from my tat collection thread but it seemed worth repeating

Kin 'ell, My Dad used to have those exact whel trims on his Mk2 Cavalier hatch years ago. But his had the earlier grille.

The Colt estate's a great spot, but the Lancia gave me a proper double-take!

What was the event where you snapped the Anglia? Just out of curiosity y'see.

I've seen that black Twingo around a few times, can't quite remember where. The location for the Angular looks like Loton Park, a hillclimb track west of Shrewsbury. It's well worth a visit: http://www.hdlcc.com

Here's my Fulvia 2C at Loton, taken a couple of years back:

Here's a few of my own Shropshire spottings:

Taken in Bayston HIll, no longer there, but believe it's owned by a LMC member:

I see this every week, it's still going strong:

Spotted in Wellington, the owner of the Marbella became one of my customers, so I managed to find out a bit about it. It was brought over from Germany and is used everyday.

Spotted in Broseley:

Also in Broseley, I think it lives with the Bedouin

^ That Renault 4 turns up a lot in Ludlow, I've been meaning to get a pic for ages :D

Your Lancia is a little beauty, but you're out with the Anglia shot, it's on top of a hill above Richards Castle. I was up there for the annual soapbox derby http://www.richardscastlesoapbox.co.uk/index.html and the boys from Ludlow Castle motor club were doing some demo runs in the interval. Thanks for the link though, might be a worthwhile afternoon out. Looking closer theres a Citroen Visa and a Clan Crusader attacking the hill tommorow

Great spots ypsilandra, I know that garage where the Seat Marbella is parked, right by Morrisions and TelTyres.

Dunno whether to laugh or cry at that Reno4 :?

Update time,

I thought that if I came to Chumley I'd miss this show as it used to be a Sunday only deal. But arriving at work this morning there were a good deal of old motors about the place. Turns out that it's combined with a food fair so is now a 2 dayer though it ain't free any more.

Anyhows it was a pleasent afternoon to wander round it with my son (who took some of the photos) and I got to meet a few of the other local car nuts.

I thought it was one of those (HR Owen?) P6 estates but it looks more like a Silver Shadow from that angle.

The HB Viva and the Albion truck are the winners there though, top spotting chief!

Holy shizzle. ANOTHER Simca 1500 estate! I know about the burgundy one that's often seen at shows, but that gold one's new on me. Fabulous. (I clocked it in your first shot by the way, then hastily scrolled down to see if you'd captured it again!)

EDIT - or is it a later 1501? Gorgeous whatever. Rear screen windows down into the tailgate. All estates should have this pointless feature.

I did EXACTLY the same.... many moons ago there were friends of my parents had one... lived near Hartshill in Nuneaton, it was possibly turquoise... I think they emigrated to NZ in the late 70s. I recall travelling in the back... window down, choking like fuck. Might try to remember their name and look em up on Facebook... I think they had a catamaran called Tamarisk that was sunk in some bad winds off the South Coast. Wow. My memory sort of works. One picture brings all of that back. Thankyou!

Howdo chaps

Yes Mr Wobbler and Mr Ross it is indeed a Simca 1501 special estate :D

Prizes that I had for you anyway are a mk1 BX hubcap and an elderly and incomplete stereo

here it is from the front

I had a good natter with the owner, a nice fellow who it turns out actually trades at my work now and again. He's the third owner of this 42 000 mile beauty and has owned her 12 years. He was happy to show me the magnificent arrangement of winding the back window down from the outside to open the rear hatch and the picnic table built into the boot floor.

As far as he knows this is the only 1501 estate in the country and the maroon one is the only 1500 estate.

That LDV was a shocking mess. For some reason, they were even bigging it up in the programme. Horrible.

That LDV is fucking BRILLIANT. I now have to clean digestive biscuit and tea from my monitor.
