Definitely an autumnal nip to the air this morning...

And the change in the weather seems to have brought a load of Days Gone to the market, for some reason.

Probably no correlation, mind.

Beautiful display case is beautiful.

I wasn't aware that Corgi had put together a Morris Minor Collection, let alone one that justified its own case, but apparently so.

Although it's Days Gone all the way here (lose yourself in passionate nostalgia for, erm, a collection of Walkers Crisps vans in various - albeit wholly fictitious - liveries), bar the lone MoY lorry, and some of those 1980s Hong Kong vintage cars beloved of discount stores (possibly made by Summer, though I didn't check).

Not that there weren't some Corgi Classics Minors on the stall, though...

Complete Corgi range represented here - saloon, convertible with top up and down, Traveller, van, and pick-up.

Rogue Saico Trav in around 1/36 scale joined by a smaller-scale Lledo Vanguard version. Boxes in good nick; £5 each asked for these.

More boxed Corgis...

Omnipresent Thorneycroft van (used extensively for Corgi's expanding Promotionals range from the mid-80s), plus a less common Renault bottle truck; and a further reappearance of that oh-so-brown Renault 12/16, which is a limited edition 1985 reissue of the 1950s original.

Unfortunately, it has all the appeal of a severe bout of gastric flu, which is probably why it's still kicking around the stall after 18 months or so.

A few more boxed oddities:

Another anachronistically painted Thorneycroft, with a Brumm Fiat Topolino van above it, and an ERTL (?) Ford T van, topped off with a modern Humvee atrocity.

No-name 1/43 Jaguar MkII in horrid yellowed plastic packaging was also on the stall:

Maroon paint + matt black roof = Inspector Morse cash-in, I daresay (and yup, I understand the car used in the series was a Daimler, but this one states Jaguar on the base - it's a comedy of errors all the way, this morning).

Delving further back on the stall...

Mmm, Corgi trams and an 80s-issue AEC in Eastbourne colours. And more DGs.

And more trams!

And more buses.

Fiver each on these, I believe.

But - there were some tat crates on the stall today, for the first time in a long time.

Lots of fecked MoYs and scratched DGs evidenced, but also...

The Corgi Whizzwheels Muira missing its headlight moulding is one I'm sure I've seen before; maybe a year or so ago. Lesney bulldozer is missing its tracks (of course) but otherwise not bad.

Whizzwheels Porsche Carrera 6 is in ok nick too; though in gaining the plastic speedwheels, apparently the driver included in the earlier rubber-tyre version was made redundant.

Matchbox Speed Kings Bertone Runabout also not terrible:

Usually these seem to suffer damage to the windshield and the sticker, but other than some paint chips this one looks pretty fresh.

Not so much of interest in the second box:

Maisto promotionals from the Shell range were represented by the MGR; while the Matchbox Dinky E-Type suffered from a lamentable lack of tyres; and some tatty Lesney commercials nestled amongst the DG and MoY rubbish.

On the table, display skillz were MAD:

Some genuine rubbish going on here, but let's have a sift:

Corgi Scanotron in ok shape - this one features a tilting cab, rotating 'scanner', reciprocating 'cutter' on the front, and a magnifying glass.

They forgot to tell us why, though.

Siku Mercedes Actros had some suspension issues, but still stands ok:

While the demountable forklift in the foreground below was also a Siku item, and although no trailer was in evidence, the two items may be linked.

MoY plastic display diorama at the back was one I oddly coveted as a kid, even though it's kind of a bit rubbish.

EFE Mercedes simply referred to on the base as 'Hoppa Bus'.

Austin A35 is badged as a Corgi item, albeit with very little detail on it - and not one I remember seeing in Corgi packaging at the time. Unsure if it's a post-takeover development of the Lledo Vanguards version?

All slightly chipped, BUT all the loose bits and pieces here seem to be priced around the £2 mark.

And who could resist the charms of this Model T van/ desk tidy?

Apparently everyone, as this has definitely popped up before on the stall, more than once.

Show all the guys and gals in the office that you're a person of rare taste and discernment with this exquisite* item.

Other stuff on the stall included this mahoosive New Bright fire engine (approx. 3ft long):

It seems like the sort of thing that kids tend to receive on Christmas morning from someone who conveniently doesn't have to live in the same house as them, and which mysteriously 'breaks' whenever Daddy has a 'look' at it around 8pm on Christmas Night - after a solid 14 hours of 160-decibel sirens and strobing lights...

Also some vintage plastic boxed boats: a Palitoy Bermudan racing yacht...

"Gracefully streamlined... For the junior yachtsman" - well, indeed.

And quite a nice clockwork powered Tri-ang motor lifeboat.

Not sure of the asking price here; they're not really my bag. But lovely, nonetheless

Not a lot was in evidence elsewhere - Paddy's still inexplicably failing to find buyers for his optimistically ticketed diecast wares, while Charity Bloke was also only good for Days Gone buses today, much to my disappointment.

Though he did have a hubcap for a Morris Minor.

And a vintage Sanyo boom-box, apparently in perfect working order.

But I know my knackers would be a necklace by the end of the day if I trundled home with that under my arm, so instead I just got myself a coffee, and then slipped off into the hazy morning chill by the river...

Loose stuff seemed to only be £1 or £2 - only the boxed stuff was a fiver this week.

It's certainly a curio, but not one that would sit all that well with my other Corgi bits and pieces...

For £20, I was certainly tempted - but tragically that's the same leap of logic that landed me with about seventeen turntables a few years ago, and in the end they wound up on Freecycle just to clear the space...

So, no new Hot Wheels in two Entertainers and two Tescos - but a big box of Maistos on the top shelf in Poundland. Found two 55 Chevies so one can become a custom. There's also quite a nice looking Chevy van in cherry red but was a bit modern for my tastes

Generally the older, boxed stuff like this tends to command an asking price of £25 - £35: kinda outside my impulse-buy comfort zone, and possibly yours too. Maybe that helps!

Since they rarely come back again the next week, I think someone must be shelling out for them...

He did offer me the truly shit-looking boxed Palitoy  train set for a tenner, but it was awful. And broken.

Presumably someone did put their hand in their pocket for it, though...

They were a bit chipped, sadly, but certainly lovely little things - and I'm a sucker for stuff with the Badgerline livery.

The Mercedes are badged as Hoppas as they also appeared with a Renault S56 front (quite rare), it only ever had 2 releases). Reeve Burgess fitted their bodies to both chassis and it continued in production when they sold out to Plaxton.

Honestly, if I'd woken up on Saturday morning having got you to pay anything near that for a plastic sailing boat that I really don't need the day before, I'd be having very very stern words with myself.
