The Matchbox Giftware ultimate must be the Soap, but I won't be looking for that.  And you know why?

It's a slippery soap.

I did a joke, once.

Range Rover kit progressing albeit more slowly now that I am back at work.

Good shout from @Spottedlaurel on using PVA glue on the windows, they look pretty much spotless now. This was always a weak point of my models in the past.

Excellent work there!  You do know you can replicate Mike Gambit's RR from The New Avengers, simply by giving it LOK  537P on the number plates?

Good idea.  Doesn't HAVE to be a Police one does it?  Without the decals it does look smart.

Or...  for added detail the hand imprint one in the S1 E4

But that's the wrong colour.  But... still...

Those do look great but I really liked the Police Range Rovers in a 1979 motorway Police documentary I watched recently, that was my main reason for asking for this kit.

Plus I have an excuse to put at least 2 aerials on it as I have got the hang of making those again!

Lintoy Mercedes C111. Has a clockwork motor wound by the screw on the base. Would this have been part of a set with some sort of device to wind it automatically?

also gained a couple more Lone Star buggies. I try to resist these as there must be almost endless combinations of body, roof and colours but I liked that these were matched rather than contrasting

Friction flywheel motor now unseized and running ok, after a fashion.  Happy enough for the £2 fee.

Primary-age daughter walked in while the motor was being oiled, and seemed interested. So I went into home-schooling mode again (there’s been a lot of that this week...) and explained the gearing and flywheel and the physics behind it. She was bored senseless.

In honour of times past, I'm thinking of instigating a Clap For Tat, where I'll go out at 7am on a Friday morning and bang some pots on the doorstep.

I'm sure the neighbours will love it.

The great 2021 clean up has started! 2 shelves cleaned so far and 7 to go. It is a while since I have done them and a paint brush does not seem to get them very clean so each one is going though the car wash. The car wash is glass cleaner and a kitchen paper towel and they are leaving the towel quite dirty.

Because my desk is solid wood it has a few waves so I have to leave stuff on my desk and temporally place the cars on the stuff or some would roll away onto the floor.

The other problem is I have totally filled all nine shelves so instead of rebuilding the shelves I am simply inserting intermediate shelves between three existing glass shelves. I am using aluminium carpet threshold strips on wooden blocks. I will see how that works out and if I need a plan B.

If you notice that I have repeats of some models it is because my collection is a model for every car I own, have owned and been given as a company car. Working in the motor trade I quite often got similar cars like a whole load of Volvo 340s and my plan one day is to paint them to match the actual cars I had.

After five minutes of googling, it seems to be a Hungarian Lendkerekes from the 70s. Judging from the handful on ebay you did well for £2!

I had suspicions it was European, but too odd for DDR so did wonder about further south - and there we are!

There is a danger I will have learned more Hungarian words before the day is out

Yes Kadett C and they called the estate a "Caravan"

This was the real car it represented, I wish I could afford another.

Some more strange 60's plastic toys which bought on the strength of one pic. I thought they were 1:64 ish but they're big, like Tonka size

Been a little quite on the buying front last year, although did manage to win this joblot of spares or repair Schabak 1:43 VW's off ebay.

My reason being was I already had a Met Grey Schabak Golf, which I'd picked up previously at a car show but minus a tailgate. So that donated some parts to repair the White Golf.  Also managed to remove the white paint/ crap off the bumpers with some hot water.

The Jetta turned out to be only missing it's front lights/ bumper. So that has ended up with a Golf front end swap. Would prefer the Jetta front end,  but it will do! Might repaint this one at some point.

The Gold Golf is missing a unbroken interior, rear lights, front wheels and lights for the GTI grill still.  So that will be a spares / scarp car for the time being.  If anybody want's it though, your welcome to it for the cost of postage.

I've got a black one of those in GTi form, I particularly like it because it's a 5 door. Very nice models.

I agree they did a really nice job with the casting on both and prefer there GTI to the later Vanguards version too.

Glad I managed to get another Jetta, as I really liked the opening bonnet and boot on the one I had as a kid. Just need to get another VW Polo Breadvan like I had and then I've completed my childhood Schabak collection!

I've been on eBay tonight; I might have bought a thing, but that's not what I'm here to talk about.

What I'm here to discuss, because I think it's hilarious, is this Corgi Rover SD1 that I definitely didn't buy.

"THE PERSON I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID HE BOUGHT IT NEW REMOVED IT FROMTHE BOX

TO LOOK AT IT AND PUT IT BACK IN THE BOX AND DID NOT PLAY WITH IT

AS HE HAD BOUGHT IT TO COLLECT"

So, presumably it was malevolent spirits that went at it wankily with a black permanent marker and added "details":

sd1c.thumb.jpg.e4d3dfca054b2644b536362fde10c31b.jpg

And then fired up the printer to create some bewilderingly toss rear lights and badges:

sd1d.thumb.jpg.0e27b6688164c3d6ffaebe23d384745f.jpg

Oh lordy, even the actual box itself wasn't safe. I'm halfway down a bottle of red and I still have no idea what's going on here:

sd1b.thumb.jpg.0a3af4e42acb5f17f8b22f974496ff46.jpg

Should you wish to inspect it yourself, in person, it can be yours for just FORTY POUNDS.

PLUS POSTAGE.

Form an orderly queue...
