@bunglebus The 2002 looks the dogs danglies! How long did the stripes take?

They're not too bad really just fiddly. Actually meant for doing fancy nail art, sometimes you have to think laterally to get supplies!

I think I primarily picked it up so I could do a three-way comparison with the Mk1 and also the messy Mk1 facelift I've owned for years now (once AA yellow, now with about four coats of paint on it).

This one?

Oh bugger, too late on the Transit!  Oh well, maybe next time.

That's the one! Probably had it since I was ten or eleven. Ruined the glazing by leaving it immersed in white spirit while trying to get paint off. Given that it screws apart, there was no need for it to have ever got paint on it...

Posted

If you feel so inclined, could you take the MK1 and MK2 apart and see if the side doors are interchangeable? Opens up my donor possibilities if so but I've heard they're different

Posted

Yes please lay the lot out on a table, disassembled.

Looking forward to seeing red doors on white mk2 transit with silver glazing and a mk1 base etc.

It will be like Transit Harlequins everywhere

This was a recent find.

Plastic body and metal base with a moveable metal rod out the rear, front wheels plastic, the rears have rubber tyres.

Renault 17 obviously, can any one shed any light on it's origins, maker ect.

And lastly:

Now, I'm quite sure we've seen one of these fairly recently, but I could be mistaken. It appears to be a plastic pirate casting of the Lesney Superfast Renault 17TL, modified to work as a key car.

Axles are shonky and stickers have worn away, but it's an oddity alright.

Well remembered (and found)!

Still have it upstairs too - never seen anything quite like it.

The end of the rod thing must be broken off mine, though - JYD's looks more complete. Would also be interested to learn the story behind these.

Also - will see if I can manage a side-by side Transit comparison tomorrow!

Check this out - I have a bunch of cars made by High Speed, here's the base of one;

20200109_120936

Thing is all the others have plastic bases, so either it's not High Speed (packaging above refers to Justen Products/Lido) or it was made out of metal to cope with being fired from the gun

Here's another Lido Renault on eBay

Here's the Datsun

Where I found the picture of the Porsche informs me these became Golden Wheels, sold in Poundland without the firing mechanism. I love these die cast investigations...

Now... here's where things got interesting. The carrier bags belonging to the general tat stall...

Well, ride me sideways. Rockets. And not just any old Rockets...

I believe we're looking here at the Mercury Cougar from the 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' 007 gift set?

While bent double over a carrier bag, with my glasses steaming up merrily from my facemask, I couldn't be sure if this was a repaint or not - since the paint looks pretty thick and the white paint showing through the chips alarmed me a bit.

But on closer inspection, it does seem to be a factory paint job - and the holes in the rear screen (for the plastic ski rack) mean this appears to be legit.

As with anything Bond-related, these things tend to fetch a bit of coin... so I'm gonna put this one aside while I have a think about what to do with it.

Any sign in the Tesco yet of the Civics? I’d go have a look but the nearest Tesco is miles away!

I was in my local big Tesco yesterday and there were several Civics in the box.  Should I pick some up?  Who wants one?

The dodge police car you are after should be in that mix Eddy.

I did have a good rootle in the box, and didn't see one.  Quite a few Austin Healeys which is one I haven't seen before.  I think there might still be an orange Golluf or two in the mix.

£1.25 each

I bought two this morning

Was gob-smacked they had restocked

Lots of Civics too!

BUT NO TOP GUN AIRCRAFT CARRIER SETS, or ´59 Dodge Coronets for that matter

1/64th but not hotwheels or matchbox, it's an AutoWorld.

Quality is rubbish.

But it's another Buick for my collection. I know it's not really an Electra, Buick chose to call it the Estate Wagon.

I don't care what they called it, the front end is an Electra.

I think the real thing had a funky tail gate arrangement where the top and bottom doors slid into the bodywork.

what are early 70's corgi superking f1 cars worth, market bloke near me was wanting 3 quid a piece, unboxed and pretty rough, only wanted them because they had baccy ads from the era that we sold toys advertising cigs to kids... i offered 2 quid tops and got told to eff off

I visited Linlithgow today. Due to the Covid restrictions in place through Central Scotland, I couldn't visit my parents so we all met up in the High Street

I remembered that my favourite curiosity shop had a stash of MG ZTs and the owner is a 75 and general car fan so I wandered in for a blether, hoping that the yellow ZT he had last time was still there.

Thankfully it was and he only wanted a tenner, bit his hand off!

I think your offer was about right. Loads on eBay, maybe a slight premium for the ones with removable wheels. JPS Lotus is really common

For sale at £2 each. The police Jaguar is £1 as it’s got a rust stain. The Mercedes is £2 as it’s got a headlight missing.
