I picked up the Chevrolet "vanpire" a week or so ago.

Hard to find a decent one.

Probably the only one I don't have!   I did go a bit daft on them a while back

516   Mercedes Benz 230SL

Clear Plastic Screen    2.50
Plastic Canopy with Cream Hood Top    4.30
Plastic Headlamps    1.60
Bonnet    0.95
Boot Lid    0.95

So £10 in parts, plus tyres.  Oh and paint.  And it still has a missing seat.  Still, I like it for a poond.

Bonnet and bootlid are both in fine fettle - just needs one seatback, canopy, screen and headlamps, plus tyres.

It's quite a nicely done wee thing, I'm sure it'll find a home at some point!

TWO Field Cars ??  Excellent.

I was going to ask you something about the Chevrolet 'Breakdown Van', that's just reminded me

Yup - one Field Car with regular wheels, and the other one Superfast.

20200821_131514.thumb.jpg.597df37e57d0f1fe93f567b93d2975d6.jpg

Regular wheels version also comes with steering, which is news to me.

20200821_131533.thumb.jpg.067a3c8cc0cf2d95b36c232034c22ee4.jpg

I had a Field Car when I was very small, which I think had belonged to my older cousin. The X shaped roof baffled me; I didn't realise that the plastic hood had gone. Most of those old playworn Superfasts were sacrificed to the big Record bench vice during my toy scrapyard phase - so I'm trying to come back to these with a less destructive approach...

The Chevy wrecker is in lovely shape; my Gift Set original is suffering badly from UV yellowing after spending many years in an attic with Velux windows, so this is another for the 'old and new' sub-collection... it's missing its hook, but I'll sort something!

Busy morning, so I'm still sorting out The Hat Of Tat...

20200821_111257.thumb.jpg.1f64cc1696c14fe49e6baa36278d2ec8.jpg

Just look at all the paint chips after I'd emptied it!

20200821_112139.thumb.jpg.0acf726b322ac926c5178b95b9aa9640.jpg

I swear it's not multicoloured dandruff...

Glad to see you picked up the Dinky - possibly a bit too much for its condition for my tastes, but at least it's safe

Pretty much what I was going to say about the Plymouth

Posted

Okay so - a bit of snappy snappy, a bit of snippy snippy, and here's the lowdown on today's tat haul...

First off, the requests - and there was definitely some nice stuff today.

For @bunglebus, we've some Matchbox fun, with a Lotus Europa that likes to keep its doors open, a Superfast Lasers Corvette with those wheels, and a Fox-bodied Mustang with huuuugely oversized rear wheels - and which I don't reckon I've ever seen before.

20200821_153619.thumb.jpg.3bd4873233072461c7a59934e307710b.jpg

20200821_153644.thumb.jpg.88d25d471dd0d06dcf3d3076ca8bd415.jpg

All this, plus 1970s Corgi delight with the elusive AMC Pacer in Rescue colours.

I'll pop those in with the others - and for once, my tardiness appears to have had some positive effects, as your tat box is yet to be posted. Will get them all on their merry way this weekend!

Next up, some for @TheDoctor - a Majorette Mustang droptop, a Corgi Sierra from the 1980s BP promotion, and a very nice Matchbox Superfast Lansing Bagnall forklift - there were five of the buggers in the tat box in varying states of disrepair, but this one's near-mint.

20200821_153706.thumb.jpg.e29e43b5a2720ee59e6ee416d0752a66.jpg

Will add these to your box for you!

Last but not least, some Skybusting japes for @sierraman - plus a more earthbound Beetle. Some are older Lesney era items, others newer.

20200821_153727.thumb.jpg.e67896bb10813911dc963c6b202a9c80.jpg

There were probably about 15 aircraft in the box, but some were in a bit of a state - missing the lower casting, bent wings or having the tail snapped off. Not all were Matchbox, either - there were quite a few no-name Hong Kong items, some Pilen, and some Corgi fighter jets and all.

Previous tat boxes have had Skybusters in there for a while with no takers, so if there's any others you noticed that I didn't pick up, I'll gladly go back again next time!

The Hero City Taxi Beetle and the Baja Beetle had unfortunately both gone by the time I came back - there were children, would you believe, buying these toys - but the one that was left in there seems to be some sort of '60 years of Matchbox' special edition jobber.

20200821_153746.thumb.jpg.6e9e22ad6b38f9daf48c43cb722c3687.jpg

Again, will add all these to your box!

Coming up soon, the last leg - the rest of the waifs and strays, some of which I'm hanging onto for the time being, but others are up for grabs.

(The USB ports are broken on my laptop and the MicroSD card port's broken on my phone, so I have to transfer photos across really slowly via Bluetooth....)

Righty-o, the first lot:

20200821_153835.thumb.jpg.0d5e905fcf65d972669e45ff78ebadc8.jpg

Original Lesney No.5A London Bus (repaint, by the looks of it) and a No.40A Bedford Tipper (without the tipper, and with a slight kink to the chassis)

20200821_153854.thumb.jpg.b9c03651b17c01f2aea76c9e529dd58a.jpg

Both available for 50p each!

Next up, a pair of No. 54 S&S Cadillac Ambulances, in reasonable shape:

20200821_153930.thumb.jpg.fc15c6d11d84d651eb54c737c325140b.jpg

20200821_153950.thumb.jpg.de13b80e1e4888a17dbb6e901563809f.jpg

One looks more cream than white, but it could just be the dirt.

Both up for grabs at 50p a pop!

Staying with regular wheel emergency vehicles, here's a No.59 Ford Fairlane Fire Chief car ***SOLD!!!*** and a No.29 Fire Pumper Truck

20200821_154038.thumb.jpg.b378605862492b5cc050b7f1976c9fd7.jpg

Fairlane is actually not in bad shape; most of these seem to have damaged glazing and the light pushed down. Not here.

20200821_154240.thumb.jpg.1ea45bf3ca4297ee6cbc07522c1305f6.jpg

Pumper is such a nicely proportioned casting.

20200821_154149.thumb.jpg.03e6912c477a533096038bc337ff5507.jpg

Pumper still evailable at 50p!

Next along, a No.44 GMC Refrigerated Truck, plus a regular wheels version of the No.18 Field Car.

20200821_154300.thumb.jpg.be95fe7bc6ec42dc5cb758b6ea4e4fb6.jpg

20200821_154344.thumb.jpg.e0af53bb44a9a2702617d9bfc35e41b3.jpg

The GMC has the novelty of its back door still being in place; genuinely the first one I've seen unbroken.

The Field Car has the less common black base, but isn't especially valuable because of it. Green wheels, now... that's another story.

The GMC is up for sale at 50p ***SOLD!!!*** ; I'm keeping the Field Car for now, and planning to get some tyres for it.

Onwards into the 70s Superfast era, now... and it's another Field Car (which is staying), and a No.59 Mercury Fire Chief car with the wider wheels. ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_155635.thumb.jpg.98313dd8cdce24b965f310b926424c4c.jpg,

50p on the Mercury, folks.

Then, hitting the speedway, we have a No.70 Dodge Dragster with a black base and the usual damage to the front end ***SOLD!!!***, plus a Volks Dragon shell that's actually very clean, and complete with a good engine.

20200821_154557.thumb.jpg.3927a9b8f193dd73e66569496913ad59.jpg

20200821_154623.thumb.jpg.9f8253b376b00810ac4c694ad87ef0e2.jpg

50p on the Vee-Dub!

Looking a bit sorry for itself is this No.3 Monteverdi Hai, with casting and glazing damage BUT does have two good doors. Rolamatics No.57 Ford F150 Wildlife pickup is quite fresh-looking, though typically has no rear canopy (or lions). ***BOTH SOLD!!!***

20200821_154653.thumb.jpg.f765ca55fcacd35182f79fa51018450e.jpg

Monteverdi is free to anyone who can use it; Ford is 50p!

Lastly for this board, a decent No.64 Fire Chief car of the sort that so irked me when I was a kid, and a No.53 Jeep CJ6 ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_154750.thumb.jpg.15fedf9cf1bfef026248e7ae8fee9696.jpg

I've just never had the Jeep before, so snaffled it from the box just for a closer look. But you're welcome to either or both of these - 50p on the Fire Chief car.

More to come!

Next board, then...

20200821_154823.thumb.jpg.70b527a6fa4274da5acb2cbabd9eba7b.jpg

So, newer 80s and 90s Matchbox, plus Corgi and oddments.

A mismatched pair from the Two Packs range - a Jeep that ought to be pulling  a glider, and a motorbike trailer which (I think) was formerly behind a Citroen SM the same metallic blue.

20200821_154858.thumb.jpg.c2fb1eb95348d056c50602349ce5da47.jpg

The Jeep is staying for now (I've a trashed version in my nostalgia box), but the trailer's up for grabs at 50p.

Hadn't we a few folks on here looking for a civilan version of the No.8 Rover 3500?

20200821_154917.thumb.jpg.3474c76c43c0be5101f556c4359a41bc.jpg

Well, here's one - not perfect, but not that bad for 50p. Also, a Chevrolet Laguna II Pro Stocker from part of the Convoy Racing Team packs - also 50p. ***BOTH SOLD!!!***

The Chevy Wrecker is staying, as it's a better version of one of my childhood favourites. Looks like the Nissan 300ZX could do with a bit of help, though...

20200821_154935.thumb.jpg.3f40f49e02740c5ae54af4903e61cb47.jpg

50p takes the Nissan with the CD wheels, to practice your axle-straightening chops.

Later still, a Rolls Royce Silver Spirit in not too bad a state, and a fairly modern (well, it says 1997) '71 Camaro, which looks a bit stumpy to my eyes.

20200821_154950.thumb.jpg.55acf8f0e3d917792309ce8a8226e6f5.jpg

50p on either of these, too.

Then, hopping over the fence to Corgi Country, we have some Husky delights:

20200821_155010.thumb.jpg.21b85567d81989e26df14c5b352e0b24.jpg

A Jaguar MkX with the chrome finish, some 'augmentation', and a missing bumper corner, and a Ford Zephyr 6 MkIII Farnham Estate... ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_155033.thumb.jpg.21a9fbc47669bfc3cac3d2fecf1efb00.jpg

...with the bootlid.

Having had a couple of Zeps without the lid, this is too good to give up, sorry!

Jaaaaaag is available for 50p, though.

A Husky Ford F150 Wrecker and a subsequent Corgi Juniors version ***SOLD!!!*** - yup, I bought these just to play spot the difference.

20200821_155051.thumb.jpg.bd8597f2938313c12430072e8795a3c5.jpg

Towing rig is missing on both, typically. I doubt I'll spend too long looking at them, so if anyone wants the Husky version at 50p, be my guest.

More Husky, in the form of a very corroded VW Tower Truck without the tower: ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_155105.thumb.jpg.80aab8c2331f0b1d008b82b560d71ef9.jpg

Come on, any Dubber will tell you that patina's everything.

20200821_155138.thumb.jpg.52bf5b82fb93f031f56fc658ceb304ef.jpg

50p on this.

And then a Whizzwheels Marcos XP - oh, hang on!!! ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_155156.thumb.jpg.0dd4ed814570c7fbd7e8b27771ba744d.jpg

20200821_155124.thumb.jpg.f2112d68c8e135ba1477e8b514d9dd86.jpg

It's a Rockets version!

Not in bad shape; 50p takes this one too.

Then, what I first took to be a Matchbox Ferrari 512BB... ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_155215.thumb.jpg.2b34124f57ade4a420635ecf00b2013a.jpg

...but it actually a Yat Ming.

20200821_155240.thumb.jpg.23f7f7ab2f98e137e453ced366fe8e94.jpg

Any fans of these in the house?

For 50p, it's yours.

Then the much discussed French Dinky Mercedes 230SL: ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_155340.thumb.jpg.497fbdc4608bcc8fec7f62d813b8e0a3.jpg

You can see what the paint would have been like, before someone decided to scrape it off with a craft knife. Mmmm.

20200821_155308.thumb.jpg.06d2e4ff77a6366d5977a2c8301a1bb1.jpg

20200821_155357.thumb.jpg.dd6c2f6aa5719e27e3a712d816e771f7.jpg

Brave resto for a quid, anyone?

And then, the other Big Spender model this week - a fiver on this very late Dinky Plymouth Gran Fury.

20200821_155415.thumb.jpg.24ddc37de0dc64787f0ef2a1cdd57a8a.jpg

The rather artless touch-ups lead me to believe that it shared the same former owner as the Honda Prelude I acquired a fortnight ago.

This is one I know from the catalogues, but have never seen in the metal.

20200821_155433.thumb.jpg.38472e119031a84796c49526973aed69.jpg

The shape's not bad at all, but the cheap wheels ruin it, as with the others of this era.

Cost cutting meant that this police car had no blues and twos; bit of an oversight, really.

20200821_155504.thumb.jpg.722ccb43457f4fa7549d66b3f59fbaf8.jpg

Matchbox's King Size version is superior on every level, but there's still some ragged charm with this one.

If you want it, £5 takes it.

And at the very last, this oddity: ***SOLD!!!***

20200821_155526.thumb.jpg.54d2a40ebb554bc3de46aaf640ebabd1.jpg

Yes, it's part of the Stobart partwork, seemingly designed to part fools from money by applying a Stobart logo to any old tat.

Having said that, the Nissan Cabstar's such a weirdly runty thing that it kinda appealed.

20200821_155543.thumb.jpg.8311b4e908348723937b7e84403b90cd.jpg

Not sure if it's OO or HO scale, but I kinda like it.

20200821_155613.thumb.jpg.38705aae6198dad385e22836887e648e.jpg

Wonky arm is wonky.

This cost me £3; you can have it for the same, or else it'll go into the cabinet with my Cararama commercials.

Is that it? That's it!

Happy Friday. :)

Can I take the blue MK3 zephyr Farnham ( think I've just the bronco 2 in the reserve parking at present).

So if you can hold onto those.

If anyone knows of a model of the 80's "square body"  Chevy/ GMC suburban a mate would be glad to know.

Don't know Suburbans very well - Hot Wheels any good? Don't think they do this casting currently

And I also grabbed this F+F F-Bomb, purely for the Roadkill link (built by David Frieburger who hosts the show). Don't normally go in for new stuff in this scale but this one is pretty cool
