Very pleased with this, being a Northumbrian myself and having frequented Keilder a lot when I was younger.

Here's what it should look like, so I think any hopes of a restoration are a bit far fetched.

I wonder if it would be possible to make a simple solid mould from balsa for example that fits neatly inside the shell. Remove and place a thin piece of perspex over it and gently heat with a hair dryer. Once cool it could be trimmed. A bit like vacuum forming...?

There is a product that can form windows, it's a type of glue but can be dragged across openings like a film, and dries clear;

These are now pretty cheap on on AliExpress, I may have ordered one. Quite fancy the Ford Del Ray and Belina, plus the Brazillian VW type 3, but I played it a bit safe and bought a Brasilia

In these days of furlough I’ve cleaned the contents of my model cabinet, I couldn’t believe how dusty they had become since I last did the job about 18 months ago...

All the way from Holland in a job lot

COWBOY COLIN is very happy

EBA141DC-4E95-4DDB-AF18-EBD8AE61126B.jpeg

I was going to repair my old 1-75 Maserati Bora but don’t think I’ll bother now I’ve got hold of the proper SpeedKing

AMX condition is very nice

Mercury Cougar been after for a while to go with the Dodge Charger Dragster SpeedKing that DatsunCog sent over from tat market a while back. Talking of which, that’s almost finished the rebuild, ought to complete and do photo

Big Mercury Commuter is another wanted when was a boy. This *might get repainted and wood-trimmed in honour of the sister car Country Squire I dragged along to Festival Unexceptional last year....?

Commuter would then become a Colony Park which does sound swisher dafter

Don't shoot the dogs colin

Colin noticed the dogs are only in the smaller-scale Commuter !

He also noticed two differences in the castings: no front door handles or quarter-light windows in the bigger scale. Well I never.

Agreed.

It's a naff 3M decal at that age though, not strips of formica.  God forbid, that would make it even heavier!

Y0, what's this Ali Express thing? I got a new phone about a month ago and the app was already installed.

Are they cheap for diecast?

It's like Wish. There are some weird odds and sods on there but mostly just cheap Chinese trinkets

DOLLY AND KEN ARE LESS THAN PLEASED THE DOGGING CAR PARK SUDDENLY GOT BUSY

58CD6A6A-7610-46BA-9B48-664975E6DA0A.jpeg

Bigger scale arrivals this month include a proper Lucky Toys Range Rover complete with bonnet that usually is missing. This is to be motorised for slot use. Mainly because no other sod has done one

Also a rare Made in Hong Kong Alfasud in perfect scale for slotting too. Had to have it - I ran Alfasuds as dailies for 6 years.  It’s probably worth daft collector money over in UK so I grabbed it cheap as friction motor packed-in, therefore screwing home a motorised base instead shouldn’t be too harsh..?

Sunnyside Checker Cab was 50p, to be painted as a banger but actually the decals on the flanks aren’t too bad after all....

Jada Corvette and Corgi van to make up weight

Corgitronics Ford Torino with the face from Crimewatch was also 50p and worked straight off after fitting a battery...!  I have spare grille.  Want to paint his one up as something different, as has the extra rear spoiler in casting unlike the Starsky & Hutch variation

Not massively. I use it for knockoff Lego mostly.

That Olds Starfire is a beauty... I had a fairly knackered example for quite a while (with the broken suspension tabs 'fixed' using a cut-up phonecard, which probably gives an indication of how long ago that was).

Should I have got rid of it? Probably not...

Now, here's a familiar object to chaps of a certain age...

I can remember having a bit of an attachment to one of these Corgi Gran Torinos back in playgroup. It wasn't in much better nick than this, either.

That 50p Corgi Tatbox Torino is now devoid of war paint.  The 50p Corgitronics one mentioned earlier has a rear spoiler on the casting.  What to do?

20200430-230201429-i-OS.jpg

Do this to the 'standard' body for the hell of it, while transferring the daft electronics over?

ford-gran-torino-1974.jpg

Or do this to the 'spoiler' body?  Junie Donleavy's Ford Torino at Le Mans 1976

1976-Ford-Torino-LM24-vers-Dunlop.jpg

The race car is a bit special as it was one of two NASCAR to ever run at Le Mans 24 Hour.  Yes you read that right - and pulling 190+MPH down the Mulsanne Straight, it had more power than Jacky Ickx's Porsche 936....  Story here:  https://www.carmrades-blog.com/all-articles/2017/12/8/king-wrong-1975-ford-gran-torino-nascar

Or do both, or not all.

Can't quite believe you're going to cut that up! I was bidding on one but got out of my comfort zone

I did not mention cutting....

Plastic cars of this era tend to have their bases screwed home, not rivetted or glued

Here is the genuine Lucky Toys c1975 Range Rover, spilt down and sitting alongside donor chassis, axles, motor, pickup; optional siren and flashing light circuits.

The (un?)Lucky Range Rover cost the price of a pint of beer, the slot car parts all from donors.  Circuits from charity shop tat toys.

I fellow pupil at junior school had that husky example - I liked it very much. It ended up in the school pond.

I'd love to see the GT done up like what 99 per cent of them actually looked like, ie like a little old lady's car. Nice metallic green paint, brown interior, naff vinyl roof. How easy would it be to smooth out those casting lines for the stripe?

That Torino looks heaps better with the coke bottle waistline highlighted by the paint job, rather than the turret-like C-pillar as per the S&H version.

@vulgalour put together an absolute belter of a 'Grandma Torino' last year, from a plastic kit - dunno if you caught the building of it?
