THURSDAY TAT DILEMMA: WHO DID IT WORSE?

The 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo.

Corgi, or Matchbox?

A consideration:

Quote

The Carabo name is derived from the Carabidae beetles, as evoked by the car's iridescent green and orange colouring.

The Post Lady has been

She rang the bell, left the parcel on doorstep and took two steps back; because of the new pestilence rules

COMPETITION TIME!

Points given to what they are modelled on:  Year, make, model; in no particular order

I will mention they measure to approx 1:30 scale and Dolly and Ken reckon they need slot car-ifying too

I reckon the Corgi version's more faithful to the original - but the Matchbox is better stanced and looks rather more appealing.

Also - it's Thursday already?

Hell's bells.

I see the answer's been revealed - I always thought they were Pontiac Grand Prix, but I'd have been wrong, wouldn't I?

I had two of those as well, once upon a time, in yellow and blue - Buddy L, were they? Or Tonka... can't remember now, think the brand was moulded into the outside of the wheels, a bit like tyre lettering. Came as the load on an articulated transporter, if memory serves...

Memory's not that stellar these days, to be fair.

Nor is mine.  I spelled Tuesday as Thursday, for starters....

The flanks have stickers which give clue to brand

WEDNESDAY WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING ... etc

Matchbox Connectables,

What was their purpose?  What was the real play value?

I have two.  Not sure what to do with them.  The three photos below tested the limit.  And Dolly's

Ah yes - good old Bloody 'Ell.

Eyes aren't the best either...

Nice enough models, though!

I also had a large plastic Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z in the same approximate scale, branded as Matchbox - red with black windows, kind of a soft plastic though. Probably also a transporter load.

All long gone though, sorry!

Aye, I had a set of Connnectables too. I believe it was a gift of some sort.

It included that same VW Beetle; some sort of Formula 1 car; a totally unplayable plane; and a 3-piece military half track possibly based on an old Battle Kings model.

Never understood them, never really played with them either.

They do, however, give me a bit of a Proustian rush back to the early 1990s, and browsing the shelves in Woolworths.

But not so much that I actually want them...

I've just got the Beetle, 'cos it's a Beetle. I wouldn't mind the original version rather than the Kellogg's one (as above) if Tat Friday returns at some point

@Datsuncog

I'd like the connectables please

In other news, although B&M and Home bargains looked like a war zone today, I managed to pick up a few hot wheels cars. They don't seem to be as desirable as toilet roll or tinned food just yet.

Sorry, I don't have them anymore - think they went to join the Sierraman trove a coupla years back!

Re-reading my earlier comment, right enough it's not  very clear - I was referring to not wanting the two offered out by Flat4Alfa... apologies!

If you're looking for Connectables though, I'll keep an eye out as/when Tat Friday comes back...

WEDNESDAY TERRIFIC TORONADO TRIBUTE

Who did it best?

In the white corner: the del Prado 1/43 scale example.  Length and breadth are spot-on at 1:43

In the blue corner: the Corgi Toys example with pop-up 'jewelled' headlamps.  It proves to be a little stumpy though as it measures to 1:51 for length and 1:48 for width...

IMG_2221.JPG

IMG_2227.JPG

IMG_2223.JPG

But what's this!?  The del Prado model maker has fitted it with a rear differential!!  Oh my, it was going so well too!

I'm sure @Datsuncog mentioned this 'feature' in the past, but it was still alarming to see.  Maybe it's a horizontal cut-n-shut?

Just means shit quality control.

Some people do collect errors, but they are not that rare really, especially after they've been opened.
