Popped into charity shop.  Chatted to the nice lady and asked about toy cars.  Was reluctantly shown a selection behind the scenes in the 'eBay corner'.

Out jumped a boxed Tomica VW Microbus and a boxed Met Osul  VW van.  Not into the VW scene (never was) but thought they might be worth picking up.  Nice lady said £1.50 each.  So a fiver was donated.  Result: neighbourhood 1, eBay nil

The Majorette VW Van (I've had since I was a boy) joined them for a photoshoot.

They are strong money on eBay, and I want them. Good score.

FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY.

How's things at the markets today?

Oh.

It's like that, is it?

Well, it could well be a deadly situation at St George's too - but I think you'll agree that today's haul is well worth* risking potential death.

Initially, my disappoint was great...

But hold on... what's that box behind...?

Right, well, this was a helluva box today: these were just being unpacked when I arrived, and there were two other collectors also circulating, each of us jealously eying up the others...

vultures_fighting.jpg.a888f2f38acdf738527c2560ada99c8a.jpg

"I see you're into the Matchbox", says one fella, darkly.

I may have simply hissed in response.

turkey_vulture.jpg.cbc44ac0c907ddad22bc4468509e1a61.jpg

There is no love between collectors.

But it was okay, he was hoovering up 50's army vehicles and tractors. We weren't on each other's turf.

The other lad was busy looking at Models of Yesteryear with missing seats and hoods.

20200306_085014.thumb.jpg.10c359026916d342c3641117e89527c9.jpg

Mr_T_Pity_The_Fool.jpg.abe87b61c6baa3bc503bef90a57669ea.jpg

Having said that, there were quite a few original Corgi Classics, pretty much mint, which did tug at me a little...

20200306_091119.thumb.jpg.3e1b57edcffbc3ebf6d4bf5649878e10.jpg

But at £10 each asked, it was maybe a little steep to indulge a whim.

So there were decisions to be made... obviously I couldn't buy ALL of them, but what to do?

How can you possibly choose between these beauties?

20200306_085010.thumb.jpg.d2c85c4b524db70075917ba53d78dd2c.jpg

Ye gads... what a pickle to be in.

I must have circulated the table for about half an hour, picking things up and putting things down, taking more snaps, hissing at other oul lads who came a bit too close...

...but eventually I selected a few.

Place your bets now!

And, once bagged up, I scuttled briefly round the rest of the market, despite knowing I was now late for work.

Nothing diecast at Alan's Emporium, though still a lot of the 80s car mags pictured last week - priced at 75p each.

20200228_092312.thumb.jpg.958e9fd7a845403ee03be2743422220b.jpg

Giffer Alley yielded nowt today, nor did the house clearance stall that formerly had those pewter Danbury Mint vintage cars.

The Charity Stall looked fairly bare of interest from a distance, and there were a few old biddies blocking my way... I so nearly just turned around and left, but I was mindful of the star prize Polo the other week, so forced my way on down the aisle...

Which was a good thing, because the lad at the Charity Stall recognised me and started scuffling round behind the stall.

"Few here that might interest you... they're a wee bit dearer than normal, though."

And, one by one, he plucked a number of elderly diecast from behind the stall and placed them before me.

My eyes probably popped a little.

I enquired, as casually as I could, how much he was looking for them.

Not very much, it turned out.

I nearly broke my wrist in the hurry to whip my wallet out.

I was glad that I had heeded my oul granny's advice and not spent all my pocket money at the one stall.

And then, mindful of time ticking on, I really did have to go... but MOAR pics to follow!

So, after scrambling into the office late (but without smacking my head off the door today, which was something) and scrubbing my hands thoroughly, what did I come away with?

Well, these came from Market Blokey's stand:

20200306_094608.thumb.jpg.f228c1b6068a079e75d7a31f9fc82ef5.jpg

I could have easily spent all my cash on just Matchbox stuff, but these are what I went for in the end.

The VW Camper was missing a door, otherwise I would have snaffled it too.

These were £2 each, which seems reasonable enough for regular wheels in reasonable nick.

These are all available at cost - and if there's anything in the preceding pics which grabs you, let me know! I'll be heading over around 12 again.

Then there were these...

20200306_094445.jpg

20200306_094500.jpg

The Corgi R16 is annoyingly missing its tailgate; I know both @egg and @MarvinsMom have asked me to keep my eyes peeled for one of these, so if it appeals (even though incomplete), let me know...

The Dinky Triumph 2000 is a smashing model, though a bit shabby. I'll probably let this one go, but I'm in no hurry...

£5 each on these!

Next up, a keeper - for now.

20200306_094625.jpg

20200306_094630.jpg

Yup, it's a Lone Star Impy Transit wrecker, although sadly missing its towing rig.

20200306_094635.jpg

Only the other week I was professing my desire to procure one of these, and now look...

I may be able to get the roof light glued back into position too - but I'm very pleased with this one.

And then, we have Charity Stall's wares - the stuff I very nearly missed.

20200306_094359.jpg

20200306_094413.jpg

Crikey, how's that for a haul!!

How much each, I hear you ask?

Three quid a pop.

In fairness, I didn't really need the orange Moke (which I believe should come with a giraffe figure in the driver's seat - sold as 'Tiny's Car' from a now-forgotten kids' TV show called 'The Enchanted House'), but with change from £15 I think you'll agree I was not ripped off.

Escort's door should pop out ok - I know the doors aren't a strong point on these.

I really haven't had a chance to even look at these properly yet - just a surreptitious photoshoot while hidden behind my bag, probably causing more consternation to colleagues than simply being open about what I'm up to on a Friday morn.

As above, these are available at cost, though I'd maybe like a week or two to enjoy them before sending them on their way...

So! Worth taking a swing past this morning, hey?

Possibly more to come...

I'll be the gent and give @MarvinsMom first dibs on the R16, but if not required by Jo, I'll take it please :-)

If the Indian Taxi spec Land Rover is going spare I would rehome it for you.

Also if the husky forward control hasn't been snapped up from the stall, it would be welcome here.

Ooh did you pick up the Superfast Zodiac MK4?

I did indeed, and it's a regular wheels rather than a Superfast!

I've a few MkIVs now, but I'm such a sucker for them that I can't help myself.

This is going spare, if you've an interest?

Transit and mk1 please!!

Mk1 Escrot? Or Mk1 Triumph 2000? Either can be arranged... though the Impy Transit may be one for the Datsuncog Cabinet, at least until I can find one with an intact towing rig.

Pity there wasn't an Impy Firenza in the box, but it just goes to show what's still out there...

No bother! The front rivet has already come away, which may make a restoration fractionally easier - but paintwork really isn't too bad, and it should still display pretty well. Tippy seats are still in place too.

The Triumphs please!

Sure thing, pending BB's confirmation it's the Ford rather than the Triumph he's after!

[EDIT: Confirmed! Will set both of these aside for you.]

Absolutely - will set the LR aside for you.

I'll bop back over shortly and see if I can nab the Husky, though if  not, I think that the Model Shop in Smithfield has one in just as good nick for about £2 as well (as below)

I know, I couldn't believe it! Missing rig aside, the paint's not bad at all. Find Of The Year, for me.

My grabby hands were all over it; hopefully no-one harbouring Covid-19 was clutching it before me.

What a way to go, hey?

Yup, though it was a fairly rough partial repaint with the tracks and most of the moving bits missing... have you an upper price in mind for one of these? I'd like to think no more than a fiver, hopefully less.
