Just checked out my little 131.  Even with my glasses on I can't read the maker's name on the base, but it could be Mira.

In the absence of any Hot Wheels 944’s in my local Poundland, I settled today for a early 80’s 924 for a whopping 50p.

It's the Datsun 126x concept car

Ah yes, usually found in yellow with orange base, opening engine lid

I have one here.  IIRC the concept was in silver?  So that SGT is not far off if the tampo could be rubbed off

Always known this as Datsun...  But look, the concept is a Nissan.    I did not know this.

Weirdly, the Datsun name had only been used on export-market cars by Nissan Motor Co since the late 1950s. Any JDM stuff was Nissan branded after that, until the Datsun name was canned worldwide in 1983/84.

I can kind of understand why Matchbox called this one a Datsun, as the Nissan name would have meant nothing to UK kids - but the orange 270X concept they made in the Superkings range was correctly badged as a Nissan...

(Quite a while back I bored everyone with a potted history of Nissan, which I'll link to once I find it)

It's fine, we can read about it on Kindle.  Once your book is published.  Shouldn't need much editing.

It has four cylinders inline.  Either that or a cat is trapped under the bonnet.

They actually did one in this shade in Cadbury’s livery.

I became aware of the Cadbury Beetle when Googling for possible colours, so I thought it suited!

My preferred base securing process is, with the rivet head still in place, use a 1.5mm drill to drill down into the post for about 0.5cm. Then I take the the rivet head off with a larger drill bit to remove the base. When finished I use a very small rivet and superglue it in place.

I think the real pros use an M2 button screw - which also gives the advantage of being able to repeatedly pull the model apart again. But, I haven't yet got a 2mm tap and die set to use that approach.

Here's where I got my 'rivets'

As ever,a trip to Smoll Eddy's fuel emporium is required.

"You like it Smoll Eddy?"

"Nice doors M8"

Annoying when charity shops bag up cars like this, you end up buying a load of junk with the treasures
