I like the idea of this.

Saw that on the Tube - clever but I just can't be arsed and they'd take up too much space. Think Danny's Diecast Disasters or the New Zealand guy whose name I forget builds some too

Whooaaa, hold on...THERE’S A MATRA MUSEUM??

Glad to see you've found it, it's a great place.

If you visit that area there's also a very good motor museum at Valencay. Just looked back at my photos from 2015, they had a good range of Panhard and Citroen stuff plus R16: http://www.musee-auto-valencay.fr/#Accueil.A

Kinda want it now but I'll try and find a less battered one.

Anyway - picked up another Zylmex as I thought it was a copy of the Corgi JPS Lotus that everyone had as a kid (made a good wheel donor but that's another story)

Turned up today

Local museum has a toy room, only a few lonely older Dinky type cars in there

Which reminds me it's been years since I visited the toy museum at Stansted Mountfitchet, so I'll try and rectify that ASAP. There's a whole room full of Matchbox with their boxes.

Having a die cast clearout, watch this space.

Although littlun is saying 'keep' way more than 'sell'

Has Datsuncog been kidnapped by the die cast mafia?

"For more than ten years there's been peace - everyone to his own patch. We've all had it sweet. I've done every single one of you favours in the past - I've put money in all your pockets. I've treated you well, even when you was out of order, right? Well now there's been an eruption. It's like fuckin' Belfast on a bad night. Scratched Whizzwheels and Rolamatics with bent axles everywhere. And believe me, all of you, nobody goes home until I find out who done it, and why."

Could I be so bold as to grab the Corgi Mack fire engine and the Vanguards P4, please and thank you?

Mack fire engine is one I remember so vividly from Corgi catalogues at the time, yet I never had one.

Cheers, dude!

And thanks to all who have partaken in Friday's tat clearance event - those are all now set aside for everyone. If there's anything else anyone wants adding, feel free!

Parcels will be packed tonight and posted tomorrow, for those who are keenly awaiting some diecast (and plastic) delights.

No problem with keeping other boxes open until everyone's happy they've enough to get on with.

Good grief. I was being so good at clearing out and resisting all the lovely miniature chod on offer.

I failed miserably this weekend. 1 Hotwheels, a parcel from Sierraman, an ebay win on a 1/43 Mira Ford Taunus and a car booty tat box rummle.

20191013_152739.thumb.jpg.fc5b12d45a5d20a011500e2a2cd8ac83.jpg

The latter were interesting.

First the Motor Max Discovery, mint condition, very pleased to find that.

2 BMWs, I have a Realtoy E46 M3 and though these would go well with it.

20191013_153004.thumb.jpg.835240445cacf955b6c6777d925b2917.jpg20191013_152951.thumb.jpg.c7dad3696cb089593bffc11ba307454b.jpg

But check this Celica out. It's a knock off of a Realtoy or Welly casting, right down to the last detail. The original is the slightly scruffier one.

I know this sort of thing has been discussed before. I say knockoff because the original feels solid like a Hotwheels but the knockoff has some spectacular flashing. It's mint though and I'm away to detail it and will report back.

If Autoshite did F1.

Spectacularly crap racing car, but is this one of those 'so bad it's good' ones?

I had a set of those but they didn't have a makers name on them. I wasn't interested in F1 cars so got shot ofnthe at some point. They may still be at my parent's house.

Picked up a couple of stragglers in a charity shop today. Another one had an ERTL Land Rover but I had no change and it was £5 min on a card.

Ferrari much improved by removing the playdough from the engine

Bargain commuter. Nice one. I decided I couldn't salvage the one Datsuncog sent me, a bit too far gone.

If anyone wants that Diplomat, it's the same price I paid for it - £1, I reckon I could 'just' squeeze it in as a 'large letter' so postage about 83p.

The British Heart Foundation ladies seemed quite pleased when I dropped off the Matchbox Sea King to them this morning, happier than I was with it anyway ?

The stall I go to on a Monday he has loads of Days Gone. Can’t even get a quid for them, absolutely worthless - About as desirable as a bout of gout.

Models of Yesteryear only a bit less unpopular, you can pick up a mint unboxed one for a quid, the boxed later ones are only £1.50. I quite like the seventies ones in a naff way. A bit of a symbol of the then ‘height of good taste’ when no middle class living room was complete without some sort of vintage car memorabilia be it a vintage car on a whisky tumbler or the MoY mounted on a stainless steel ashtray from when people chain smoked in their living room.

I was in a charity shop in Rochester last year when the staff we discussing how much to price their boxed 'Days Gone' haul that had just been dropped in.

£10 each was mooted, then rejected as too high, 'how about £7.50 each?'

I had to interject and offer my wisdom on the subject.

Politely, I advised them they were virtually worthless. I even bought one for £5 just to make the point I wasn't trying to get them cheap, merely giving  them the benefit etc etc..

A week later they were all lined up on the shelves, pride of place, and awaiting new homes at....£5 each

And I’d assume they are still there? Looking back they really were shit, really annoyingly stupid subjects like a Shredded Wheat Ford Model T van. The only gear they turned out then that I do still like are the Marathon Leyland Olympian.

Posted

They had no play value which is why they have no appeal now. No-one was whizzing an Armstrong Siddeley around the lounge carpet when they were seven.

The only decent things Lledo ever made were the Trackside and Cargo Kings ranges. I'm sure I've told the story of the 1/76 scale ERF lorry they were going to make just before they went bust - it was superb and would have sold like hotcakes but alas was not to be. There are a few more in the world now though as I acquired one of the resin prototypes and had some copies made.

I remember my grandparents (I think) buying this model for me

matchbox-models-of-yesteryear-1910-renau

And this one for my brother

They got played with in the normal way -and they got more or less broken - but seemed a bit odd - I'm not sure how we thought they fitted in with our other cars!
