Just to follow on from yesterday's ramblings on the MB34 Chevy Pro Stocker... it turns out there's two quite different castings in circulation.

The first, launched by Lesney in 1981, had somewhat over-large wheels but otherwise looked rather convincing as a Chevrolet Chevelle Laguna S3, the top-performance variant of the A-body Chevelle.

Even though they'd been out of circulation in the real world for four years before the Matchbox version arrived, MB34 proved a popular model which clocked up five years in the main Matchbox lineup before spending many more years appearing in racing sets, gift packs and as Laser Superfast and Road Blasters versions.

I don't think I've seen one with a red base before, mine's got the unpainted base.

Nice looking RS2000 @bunglebus, where did you get the wheels from?

Civilian, not Military.  Unless of course those hay bales have hidden ordnance

I paid far too much for this.  eBay bidding war / shillage

1/32 you say? It looks like a rescaled copy of the Corgi model (exactly the same colour too). I really like that. As with the Corgi, apart from the cab, which actually does look like the canvas truck cab you can get these days its a really rather good model.

My favourite Land Rover toy I haven't seen for years were those big scale, 1/18 or thereabouts cheapo ones made of plastic. Me and brother got some on a daytrip to the seaside and ideal for play off roading in the sand. They were always LWB, and Series III but beyond that my memory is a bit vague.

Hey, speaking of Land Rovers, I have an old plastic friction toy one, looks like an S2, to a scale of about 1\30.

It is in military guise, with a removable tilt and those blue tinted windows that a lot of plastic toy cars seemed to have at the time. However it is FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.  I presume this is to allow a flat bed at the back but its still weird!

The Tonka Beetle or the Bedford?

I believe Sudsprint's referring to the Impala 'Kennel Club' dog van!

Quite an unusual basis for a model, but hey that's Corgi...

I think I was watching that one on ebay, looks nice!

Needed a bit of a clean and a splash of chrome pen, but yes, fairly uncommon over here.

This Minix came with it and is awful. Junk, broken in every way and entirely undesirable. Hence, offering here before I bin it (for free of course!).

Funny, I gathered up quite a few Minix over the years including such oddities as the Simca 1501 and Landcrab, but never a Triumph 2000... I think they were fairly common once too, as they were included as cargo in a few Hornby train sets.

But no, not for me thanks!

The Norev Alpine is fantastic, though. Well bought!

If nobody else wants it I'd quite like the Triumph please.  I've still got a few Minix left over from when I were a saucepan; mostly battered and repainted so it'll fit right in!

While in the loft the other day, I came across these Corgi & Dinky catalogues

If anyone is interested I'll scan them and share on here

A leaflet of Corgi cars that has been very well used

IMG_8956.thumb.JPG.5be071b580055f0785379415e3e2e0df.JPG

Corgi 1967/68 and falling apart a bit

This leaflet has the London to Sidney rally Hunter (I have one in a box) so is presumably from 1968?

Must be 1971 as price is in old and new money

IMG_8960.thumb.JPG.caacfe45e201b4d9c9dfb6a25a0e0b6b.JPG

1972 for both maybe?

Those cartoon scientists on the Corgi one always annoyed me!

Edit; All upside down! Sorry not sure why haha

Love the brochures with all the cars laid out.

I know the purists sniff at Whizzwheels but for me they were just as good, and completely in tune with the 'rostyle wheeled' real world outside at that time.

Made by Norev I think. I have a Dacia Duster with the same branding which I got from eBay several years ago.

I'd like to see the catalogues scanned, all but one of mine are Matchbox. Might do one of mine today actually

Having confidently stated the other day that I had some Revell slot cars kicking about somewhere I've just rooted them out and of course they're nothing of the sort, they're by Aurora. Found in a junk shop in Nuneaton around 2003 and never done anything with them.

[Thread bounce, sorry]

Did you sell these on in the end?

Spurred on by purchasing the latest model today I’ve had a look back through the different Unimogs Matchbox offered over the years. The first one was brought out the the very end of the Regular Wheels Era, supposedly originally it was a model to test new colours on but then ended up in production in either the beige or the blue colours.

Then it was converted to Superfast, with the clip on axle covers in the same blue colour, later versions having a metallic hue then latterly as a military version in the early 80’s. By which point the axles has been completely re-engineered to a simple plastic base and the spare wheel deleted.

Presumably by 1983 the casting was a bit long in the tooth so the new Unimog was brought out as a snow plough and latterly with plastic armaments in the Roadblaster series in 1985.

Charity shop 50p finds. The single CD was 49p, from one of my favorite bands and signed by all members! The Husky Commer van has both sliding doors and very thin looking driver inside.

The Cortina is missing the passengers door and Diplomats bonnet is missing, I'll knock something together for those.

I think that was a score for £2.49 :-D
