Shite in Miniature II

You want to try looking for a 304 van, like I had!  At least you can get a 305 saloon.

Universal Hobbies are the mob responsible for the James Bond collection, which are quite good.  I have several... Not much in the way of vans among them though, Bond tends to favour cars more.

I think that a conversion could be undertaken.

Hyullo!

I'm obviously not a regular in here, indeed I don't have that many miniature shite vehicles personally, though there are some at my rents house.

Can I ask a stupid question though? Can anyone have a guess what size/scale cars I should be looking for for this car park? It was £2.99 and I couldn't resist it.attachicon.gifIMG_20190218_122933.jpg

I think I'm seeing a Dinky Mini Moke in that pic.  Try that in one of the spaces because from here it looks like it should fit.  If it does, then you want Corgi/Dinky/other 1:43 scale cars.

I posted this picture earlier, but the dirt on it is hurting my 'ocd'* Do I clean it up or not? If not, does someone else want it so it doesn't keep bothering me? :D

*translate that how you will, some things just bother me so much I have to do something, I have lots of idiosyncrasies that indicate issues, but not really full blown OCD, and don't want to upset any sufferers.

I already have one of those Merc vans (in clean edition) but I understand your concern.   I wouldn't call it OCD but I have a similar outlook.  I can't look at Junkman's splendid Kennel Truck resto without mentally re-arranging the dogs so that they all face inwards.....

Was delighted to find this earlier.

Playing with a much tidier example belonging to my dad is one of my earliest memories so I really am chuffed to get one at last.

One of my favourites, that Hawk....I swapped one that colour for a Corgi Thunderbird in a playground deal that I instantly regretted.   I remember asking the other lad if he was looking after it.    He didn't actually call me a weirdo but I know what he was thinking.....

Nice collection there - think the CX Familiale, G-Wagen and Merc floppytop (and is that also a Golf, and a white Matra Bageera?) with no windows are Bruder items - or, at least, I had some the same included with a plastic Bruder ferryboat a few years back. Slightly cruder than the railway scale items, but still a lot of charm.

Mebbe worth putting the shell of the Mercedes van in a bag with some oven cleaner, as per my earlier Transit adventures? Failing that, I'd certainly give it a home (and a bath, probably)..

(Oh and just to say, all those who tipped me some monies for their share of Friday's market stall haul - your items have been posted and will hopefully be with you by Wednesday!)

I stumbled upon this from my files - some plastic rubber band tat I spotted in the Daf museum about 18 months ago - are these Norev’s?

The proportions on that Humber are excellent, really is one of Dinky's best before the sloppy panel gaps when the opening features became necessary.  Shame they never used the interior moulding on the civilian versions, though.

Poor old Eddy, there he stands quietly and diligently, his little metal hand grasping forever the little metal pump.

Rain or shine, day in day out for eternity.

Sometimes going weeks with out a customer!

*ding ding*

"Four gallons of four star, and a shot of Redex, please my good man"

Eddy duly obliged, and went back to his post as the green Vauxhall trundled off into the distance.

Tiny Transit is now out of its oven-cleaner bath and back on the keyboard.

It looks a LOT more orange when it's next to the Capri - I would have sworn blind they were both nearly the same shade.

I'll give it another repaint at some point, but right now I'm just enjoying looking at it.

Remember this? Lost the lights and spares so it was a ruined model.

My son (7) decided to restore it and we've managed to bodge some Moskvich lights and grille on the front and some random orange plastic for the rears. He has gone a bit 'blue forum' by slamming it, but he'll grow out of that I'm sure. I did*

Would anyone be interested in this before I brave ebay with it. I'm can't remember where I got it from or why, I'm assuming it must have been a gift. It has some chips on the roof and is missing the Merc badge on the bonnet also the rear spoiler is loose, the windscreen has some light scratches from where my kids played with the front wiper. It has tons of detail, such as seat belts and working rear suspension.

That's bloody lovely. Top buying! Corgi did a decent job getting those muscular proportions just right on the Mustang fastback  - something the Matchbox Dinky version didn't quite pull off.

Today's diecast-related grin for me was finding the broken bumper off Friday's Ford V8 Pilot wedged down into a fold in the packaging - so once glued back on, it looks grand.

Despite it's shortcomings,Eddy was reasonably happy with his lot.

I mean, being a little metal petrol pump attendant isn't the most exciting of careers, and the tedium of his existence can become a little wearing at times.

Today was just one of those days, bored out of his tiny metal mind.

Through the delierium he thought he could hear the rumble of a fast approaching V8!!

A flash of red on the horizon, the rumble was getting louder!

He would have rubbed his eyes in disbelief,if his hand wasn't moulded to that damn pump nozzle!

A red '34 Ford 3 window coupe was coming his way.

post-5543-0-37607200-1550587119_thumb.jpg

He couldn't believe it,

Could the dream of every fuel pump attendant be coming true?

post-5543-0-09645000-1550587228_thumb.jpg

The gleaming* red Ford screeched to halt right in front of him.

Eddy by now was nearly having palpitations, the excitement was almost too much,he'd seen the music video of the Ford, the leggie lovelys, and the lucky pump attendant, was today really going to be his day??

The door opened and poor Eddys jaw dropped ,as two size 12 work boots clomped out onto the ground followed by a tall, scruffy, slightly unhinged looking chap, clad in denim.

"Fill 'er up please m8"

This was not the sort of fill 'er up Eddy had envisaged,

But still he duly obliged.

"Thanks m8" said the scruffy individual as he clambered back behind the wheel and fired up the engine.

Eddy looked wistfully on as the red Ford thundered down the road,

Thinking "if only"

post-5543-0-43733800-1550588196_thumb.jpg

As the car and sound disappeared, the silence once again enveloped Eddy.

Until a familiar drum beat started in is head, followed by a wailing guitar.

"Oh fuckit" thought Eddy,

"I'm going to have that fucking tune in my head now for the rest of the day"

The end.

Buying and posting up the XM reminded me I had bought a Jaguar S Type model when I got the real one 3 months ago, because the model was a white police car the plan was always to paint it black to represent the car I actually had and I had taken it apart and today I sprayed it using gloss black car paint. It is a poor job with bad orange peel and missed bits where I sprayed it with the doors open. Also in my haste I guess the paint was still soft when I reassembled it, I chipped the paint in a few places. Taking it apart I broke the windows where they clip in to lugs.

3/10 must do better.

My whole model collection is based on cars that I have had or have now and I am happy to vandalize any of my models to make them a truer representation of the car I had/have.

It has also remained me I have a German Mercedes Police car to convert to represent the 320 CDi I had last year, this time it needs to be very dark blue.

How should I paint it, what equipment do I need, should I strip it to paint?

That one looks more Simca 1000 to me than Lada. Top shite either way, really.

It does, but if you get in really close, you can see the Lada badge and that it is just a crap approximation
