Just realised I have a Grafficed Traffic awaiting resto, so I popped it next to the sealed one

Always the cheaper alternative to Matchbox and Corgi and usually for good reason though the products of Zylmex have finally become collectible.

Great and unusual stuff  Ambassador!

I bought a couple of Fresh Cherries from Ebay 15 years ago, a US Escort and Ford Tempo and I was mighty impressed. 100% American domestic autoshite! Mine came in different packaging though, they have little plastic display cases and green card sleeves. I havent seen them in years, like yourself, maybe its time to dig them out!

Thanks. Like a lot of us hoarders on here it's easy to get on the treadmill of continually buying new stuff, putting it away and not seeing them again for years. Always good to go back and actually appreciate what we have in our collections.

I've just had a quick look on Ebay and seen the packaging you've got. I'd completely forgotten they had metal baseplates too.

I've got quite a lot, it all started when there was a "Matchbox" Rolls Royce in a job lot I just couldn't identify. It was this

Zylmex D44 Rolls Royce

Since then I've bought some* more

Something definitely worth selling a kidney for!

Sadly not a sniff of any of the new Hot Wheels yet around here. Maybe in about 6 months time...

Did find a couple of recent ones that have been on the hunt list sadly they were in Morrison's which means a) not cheap and b) ****ing security tags. But I couldnt leave them as I doubt I'd find them anywhere else,

The Giulia is a lovely little casting.

Slightly reminiscent of a Dolomite IMO

And the Merc SEC is just lovely in this colour scheme with the flip paint and beige interior. Really like the fitment of the Aerodisc wheels this time as well.

Is that the US equivalent of a Talbot Horizon?

Yes that's right though i believe apart from styling they shared very little mechanically.

Sold also as the Plymouth Horizon and quite popular in the US.

Engine was initially Simca but quickly adopted a VW unit together with the gearbox.

There was also a 2.2 and 2.2 Turbo although knowing the US it was probably producing about 75bhp 😅

There's a 1/25 scale version too!

A few from me after I decided to pop to the big store in Kidderminster after work. I couldn't find a space at home so decided to waste an hour so at least I'd be able to park up when I went back home.

I spotted one of these in white a few months back, but I couldn't quite stretch to the asking price of £9. This one was still £9 but on sale.

I'd have liked a black one to pay homage to my own sadly departed S124 estate:

What I noticed about this Hot Wheels version, was that the front casting seems to be wholly based on the earlier iteration of the W124 with the oblong headlights and slightly more bulbous grille:

Anyway, doesnae' bother me. Just glad to have one.

BMW 635CSi, been covered on here before by others.

Some may remember that sometime back I bought a rare Schabak 1/24 Mercedes S-Class. The rear of the car I could not get on with. The red lights did not descend enough and the back white strip underneath, at least on my model, didn't look white enough, it was opaque-ish plastic mounted onna dark-ble painted background so didn't really show up well. Here is one with that, but looks a bit whiter here:

s-l1200(19)(1).jpg.9f08ca888b172f0044f787f688c548b7.jpg

Mine was nowhere near as white as that. So I decided to remedy mine. Painting the rear light was out and a bad idea, it was opaque but clear enough to see the rear colour through. So I took some white reflective sticky-backed paper, cut into size and stuck it to the painted part where the lense normally sits:

20250809_084313.jpg.4c12314127be36a6a8157e061d6a0673.jpg

Looks a lot better and really brings out the white strip light.

Had to change a tyre around after finding some old plastic sticking out between the 'alloy' and tyre, it left a tiny but visible cut in the tyre so had it changed around.

You may remember me buying this Polistil Merc SL:

20250731_222250.jpg.daa2f2737eb9766888529c63ab780402.jpg

20250731_222240.jpg.e23bdc5c24a0124e9e91cc1700c78c01.jpg

The interior was quite dusty and I wasn't quite happy with seeing an exposed blue painted part just inside the rear window. I decided to deconstruct the car to clean up the interior, paint the blue part black and paint the steering wheel. I also managed to get the bonnet open as it didn't open before and tightened the boot rod holder so the boot would stay open when opened.

Not overly happy with the steering wheel, it needs to be matted but I don't have matted-effect markers, just what's to hand. I gave the dash a few silver accents on the mouldings for the air-blowers and the glovebox lock.

I use black acrylic paint for things I need to be be matt black, easy enough with a small bush

Despite their cheapo appearance these low end 1:64 diecasts are actually licensed! The kind of stuff you could in discount and souvenir shops here before HTI and their shite genetic Teamsterz took over!

Da Zhong internationally themed emergency series. Again, taking into consideration these are unlicensed cheapies it's hard not to be impressed by their quality, opening parts and even rubber tyres. Not something you tend to find on basic Hot Wheels.

Suspiciously Tomica-esque Hino buses by a company called Aoli. Unlicensed of course, a running theme in my collection 😉 but just as well constructed and detailed as the originals.

Oh and I’ve just had a message that a parcel is ready to be collected from the local convenience store. A small job lot I primarily bought for a Corgi Juniors SD1 that appeared to be an unusual colour scheme?

Boot sale bits. There were more but it was a bag of mostly shite that I got just for a few of the cars

Just back from the PistonHeads Annual Service at Bicester where there was a scale model seller with outrageous prices for a lot of mediocre stuff.  I was delighted to find a parcel waiting for me courtesy of @155V6 who swapped this for an extra Broadspeed XJ12C I had.

Very happy - the F40 is one of my all time favourite cars (saw 2 real ones today!).

There was a Discount Giant near me in the 80’s which later became a Morrisons. Green Giant is sweetcorn isn’t it?

Interesting, CMC are apprently doing a new line of Vanguards based Hot Hatches. This is bad news for me and my weak will...
