Nice, I'm thinking about getting the cheap white un and adding detail

I'm thinking of buying another one and doing the same.

Rather pleased with today's purchases:

It's an actual Dinky and would have been originally sold as a kit; the chassis is screwed on rather than riveted. It's in extremely good condition bar a little missing paint on the cab roof; all opening doors are present and correct and the jewelled headlamps are still there, The tyres haven't gone all flaky or anything.

I also bought a little Matchbox CX estate. The two of them were in a tray of assorted toy cars outside the St Helena Hospice shop in Frinton-On-Sea.

20p each.

I gave them a quid for the pair. Seemed the right thing to do.

Guten mini-shicting to all concerned.

I love the box of the Cavalier, its's like the Autoshite slogan of yesterday, for the Future, now.

The Norev 1:18s...any good then? I want some Princess Di Mercshite they do in 1:18.

Well I've bitten the bullet and ordered one of those cheapo Taunuseseses (Corblimeymk5) and a snot green Opel Kadett (Mk1 Ashtray) from Polskiland. Both will get a bit of detail added, and maybe a wheelswap before photos will be posted on ere

They aren't quite up there with AutoArt or the Sunstar Platinum Collection, but you can hardly beat them in the value for money department.

With some slight superdetailing, they can keep up with the best, though. It is also a long standing Norev tradition to capture the overall shape and stance really well.

I'm afraid I don't rate Norev 1:18s particularly highly as one of mine died of metal fatigue. It wasn't cheap either :-/

Mista Lobsta is supplying me with moar diecast shite very shortly. Watch this space folks!

This thread was a real blast down memory lane....I had a couple (think theyre still at my parents house) of Guisval toys, a Matchbox-size Mk3 Golf and a bigger yellow BMW. We used to holiday in Spain when my Grandad was still alive so I also wound up with a fair few Bburago stuff. Guisval and Majorette are still going, as are Siku (also went throuigh a brief phase of collecting them).

I also last year bought a few of the DeAgostini Russian shite, the red Riva, Mosvkich 2140, Moskvich Aleko (the Alpine knockoff), the Izh 412, and the Izh Oda hatchback. As well as two of the UAZ 469 breadvan - this was kicked off after watching the movie CHernobyl Diaries and rekindling my interest in Soviet shite.

BTW, I would LOVE to have the dexterity and ease of hand to restore and detail up toys like quicksilver (Hi Adam! :)) and that other user (cant remember the name) does. Also found these on fleabay last night:

What do people get from collecting these little cars? Its always seemed a bit sad to me but some people would say loving the rover 75 is sad!!

As I lie in bed I have a 1/43 scale facelifted 75 model next to me on the bedside table.

Sweet dreams x

I sold an identical CF in my car boot sale some time agi, in a similar condition. The conversion is brilliant. I always thought those Superkings wheels looked a bit tasty and they look right at home there. I really do like that.

I'd very much like to see that CF from other angles, it's lush!

At least folk who collect models don't have to explain why to a judge.

Turned it into a tilt and slide recovery truck.

There's a whole thread about them.

They were in branches of Poundland for some time.

I know that i thought these may be different ones.First time i have seen the orange one out of a box

I'd say these were bought by the seller from Poundland tbh, but as supplies never hit my local branches, £2 each wasn't over the top to pay

The last 2 Commie motors, the orange IZH and the Plod (I think) Yaz van were bought at Wroxham Barns car show. Some of my Commie shite has come from Latvia & Poland, some from sellers here.

I can haz moar shite, this time via our purveyor of model shite, Monsieur Lobsta innit, this time a Whitebox Fester Mk2, not the best castings, but, meh I've been after a mk2 model for donkeys, and this is going to be re-sprayed to look like a car I used to own.
