I have spent £60 plus commission at an auction this morning, pictures later when I have picked up the items.

I'm not really into slot cars but nevertheless just won this lot for 35 euro at the local auction. The artwork on the box of the Bandai set is glorious!

Not sure if "serkit" is Japlish for circuit or is supposed to mean something else...

As mentioned earlier I did a bit of interweb bidding on a local auction. I bid on a few lots but was only successful on one of them as I'm still purging more than buying.

So what's in the box that I bid £60 on this morning?

Well there's 7 items and a receipt for £77, that commission has to be watched when bidding, hence why I did not buy all the lots I bid on.

A Johnston Road Sweeper just like the one I had 50 years ago.

The Tomato Mangusta, again I had one of these along with the Corgi version with the removable chassis.

Another plastic boxed model, this time a Jaaaaaag E-Type 2+2

And finally the two that I bought it for

Mk1 Rally Cortina

and Mk2 Rally Cortina.

I'll be given them all a good careful clean during the week and will post more detailed shots once cleaned.

I scored one of those AEC tankers recently from @FakeConcern in considerably poorer condition!  I'm about to start taking it apart to use in one of my projects.

Yes, all have a bit or play wear and a bit of dust and dirt. Due to the paper labels I will not be able to give them a good soaking, just a bit of light cleaning with damp kitchen paper and maybe a bit of lighter fluid.

Here's some of the lots i missed out on

Bid to £130 (about £170 with commission). I stopped at £120.

 

Bid to £140 (£185 with Comm). Again I was the under bidder.

This lot went for £240 (£300 with Comm). I stopped at £150 on this one but it was still a bargain as there are almost 50 items in the box, so about £6 each.

I have given the Jaaaaag a clean.

I was hoping to get rid of more of the yellowing in the paint...

but on closer inspection, it looks like the car was painted with two different shades when made. The main body is more yellow than all the opening panels. It also has a glossier finish.

It also has tilt seats inside.

Without flash the colour difference is less noticeable.

This one has the usual gold base.

and the box still has the specification sticker.

VW Fastback by Dinky is very very good

Missing steering wheel (I have one that will fit already) and one of the door cards if anyone has a spare, apart from that, lovely!

Dinky Holden and French Renner 4 also lovely

I only have one other French Dinky an R16

Strange plastic GTO is much nicer than expected

With pretty good detail and doesn't feel too frail

I've not owned any early shape Cuda models before

Rough, but nice! Is it too rare for me to strip and paint it, I don't know much about it

The later 1/36 Corgis aren't my fave, but I have a few and these were too good to resist

Corgi Minis, I already have examples of the Austin Seven and the Minor, but Se7en in a much mor orange red. The two Coopers I've not had, but my younger sister had a blue one I coveted (She still has it) called Sparky because of the lights! I always wanted the Unimog with a snow plough as a kid after seeing it in a catalogue and the Velox will get painted at some point

Big scale Ovlov to join the Estate version I have already

The Matchbox were also much better than I expected, I'd intended to rob the chassis off the Pinto for a project, but won't do that now

Rather strange it looks like my original had wing mirrors from holes in the wings, but I can't find pics of that online

I've also gone mad on ebay, firstly I blame @bunglebus for showing his collection of Conrad VWs, which meant I had to have Scirocco and like the look of the Aldi too

Added to my Yonezawa collection with these from the same seller with starting bids

Neither is mint, but both very good

The Plelude is missing the sunroof so when I can find a good pic of one I try to make a replacement

Glad you like them! There are some nice ones there so good to see they’re going to a good home.

The yellow plastic GTO is actually a Torino. Apparently made by Funmate who did a few other yanks too. 
The Cuda, I’d say is very much your call to paint it or not. It is a fairly rare model, but it’s rough enough that I don’t honestly think you’ll do it any harm by painting it now. Let’s be honest, most of its original paint has fallen off now! I don’t think you can spares for these though so definitely one to be extra careful with when taking to bits.

That's on the cusp of looking good original and needing a resto to improve it. I would leave as is due to the rarity of it, you do not see too many Sabra models.

I've had a red Prelude. The sun roof was black plastic with a small lip at the front to aid opening and closing.

The Funmate Torino cleaned up fairly well - it was looking a lot scruffier when found last year.

I understand it was produced as part of a range of early 70s Fords, supplied with a spring-loaded 'launch key', and given away with boxes of Procter & Gamble detergent in the US during 1971-72 as an on-pack free gift.

Not super-rare, but certainly a bit unusual - especially on these shores.  Find the other six in the range and you'd have a nice little collection.

I had a couple of boxes of random tat arrive today

Only reason I'm showing you this mildly hilarious Porsche 917 is because the leaf springs all round on the base amused me

But then I realised the Hair Splitter that turned up with it has the same detail cast in!

Edocar Golf does not have leaf springs, and is probably more unusual than the Hot Wheels 

Unbranded Lambo has lost its engine cover

The engine cover on this Mira is cast closed, but it does have a launcher sprouting from its posterior

Last Lambo is this Kees, possibly one of the versions using the Kees casting rather than an original, but it does still have the brand on the base

A trip to Entertainer netted me three new premium castings out of a set of 5 - the other two were gone but these were the ones I would have chosen anyway

I wasn't entirely sure about this era 911 when it launched, but it's grown on me - and this is a really lovely version 

Best of the bunch for me though, is Alex Taylor's Plymouth from Hot Rod Garage

Way back when, in a dark recess of the internet, I found a picture of a Matchbox K-7 in white, but instead of the Martini livery, it had the Team Matchbox decals. Presumably a factory error, but it stuck in my mind. As you can get the decals from Black Square, and I had a pretty good example with worn stickers, I had a go

Stickers came off with a soak, and some meths for the glue

Here's the finished job (well ok I've only done one side so far!) of course I had to swap the Martini Hi-Tailer for a Team Matchbox one too

Edit - pic is actually on Wiki, but looking closer it is a white version of the earlier yellow one(!) rather than a Martini with the wrong stickers - the earlier type has air horns on the cab roof, rather than the plastic platform with the spotlight and air horns attached

Edit of the edit - I think this may have been a factory colour trial made just before the Martini version was released, if only because it's the later version of the casting with the A pillars, rather than the first type like so:

Do any of you take premiums out the box? I have a couple that I'm itching to open but the packaging is really nice as well.
