I think I'll leave it in the paintstripper overnight now. Turns out there's still a fair bit of the original blue under the mess of the primer. It looks like there's a layer of tippex over the blue, then some areas have been sanded, and primer added to the whole lot. Niiice.

Dinky red is probably the worst I’ve had so far. Took a few days to make it soft enough to wire brush and scrape off. Most of the newer paints take minutes though before it starts shrivelling up.

Forever. All I've ever noticed is the metal get darker when I've left them sitting for a few days - which reminds me, I've got one in the tub now I totally forgot about, better go and fish it out!

Lol, I've got a Plymouth Fury as well!

Other than a different grill, I think the Plymouth Fury/Dodge Monaco distinction was just badge engineering in the 70's.

I'd say that was a Peugeot colour, like the ex grizz/NAN 206 CC.

80s shonky casting around the gutter strikes again. Halfords have got a pretty decent range of colours on the shelf you can compare with the picture, and if you can find a car spares place, Holts have a pretty decent range too.

Both companies just sell X green or X red rather than an exact match such as Ford Peppermint Green or whatever

Well this turned out better than  expected. Turns out I hadn't sanded loads of detail off the casting years back. Even the Renault diamond logo on the bonnet has survived. The roof and bonnet have some old scrapes but it's going to clean up ok. The photos make it look worse than  it actually is.

No markings on the base, looks like it's been sanded off - but there are a couple of things that stand out.

1 it has no glazing - I suspect to stop an air bubble forming inside. Now anyone can drill the rivet out and remove the glass, but

2 if you get the light just right it appears the rivet has never been spun - I suspect it was supplied like this deliberately to allow it to be cast in the resin

The original unmarked packaging for this Playart Mazda B1600, I'd love to know what the story is behind these Corgi castings becoming a promotional item under the Playart banner

Kiddo wanted to go to Lakeside this evening, which gave me the opportunity to look through a huge amount of Hot Wheels in Entertainer

Found the motorbike I was meant to buy my mate from Bluewater the other night but somehow left behind 

And this, which is definitely dividing opinion! Not many VW T3 castings around, and this one's way out there

A nose around Smyths revealed a new set of Neon Speeders. Most didn't appeal but this pink Porker did

Then this caught my eye

An unusual mix, but I rather like Moon stuff, and the other two castings are rather good too...

Hydroplane is a weird thing for Hot Wheels to produce, but the moon livery looks good with the Speed Waze

Toyota Stout Drift Truck (I'm sure someone will know more about this one), got my initials on it!

This though, casting is dated 2022 but I've never seen it before. All the oat milk mocca chocca latte drinking gay lumberjacks will be in shock seeing this Citroen H Van!

They had an entire set, and I was honestly wondering should I buy all of them as they’re all lovely, but somehow decided not to. In hindsight, I probably should’ve done it. 😄

I've spent half the day going through mine and deciding what to keep, as I bought all the unclaimed stuff too.

Glad I did as I found a few things I'd not requested that were rather nice

This was the one I was most pleased to get I think, I do like a Mercury Cougar, and I hadn't seen one of these before

I'm trying to avoid/get rid of commercials, but sone just appeal to me too much, such as these Leylands

Stetra is in nice condition 

Like I need more of these bloody things!

Berlinetta is destined for resto

Don't know if it was an error or a deliberate omission of the chrome, but this Challenger is much nicer than the one I previously had

Binz is also very tidy, there are a surprising number of variations with this casting

Talking of which, Mod Tractor has different wheels to the other ones I have

Glow Racer TR7, couldn't find anywhere dark enough to test it!

XJ220 is one of few supercars I really like, not an especially common find

Husky Bat mobile has the usual broken screens but Bat Geezer and Bat Boy are present and correct

Dinky Dublo is tiny. Noddy nowhere to be found

This is at the opposite end of the size scale, Polistil ovloV has a strange feature where the boot slowly opens all on its own, very odd!

Gamda Koors were the most expensive buys but still way below eBay prices. 

Quite surprising how often Israeli toy cars show up in the UK I think

Dinky Viva, very playworn but charming nonetheless. The HA is almost exactly the car you'd draw when you were 5, not a curve in site

I was convinced I had a Corgi Opel Rekord, Rambler Marlin but I didn't. I think I'd tried several times to win them on eBay, but I have one now

Corvette is much nicer than my existing example 

NSU really deserves a resto, will I ever do it? Maybe...

I think you'll find the "Opel Rekord" is a (AMC) Rambler Marlin Coupe.  Dinky did make an Opel Rekord Coupe; also, IIRC, a Commodore, neither of which I have, but neither of those is the car in the pic.
