Sometimes my eBay trigger finger is a few steps ahead of my brian. Saw this Gamda Koor Barracuda and hit the button, turns out I might have been a bit hasty - it's a total glue bomb

It came along with two other needy diecast, only one of which I think can definitely be saved

The requested Chipperfields Circus ticket office Karrier, for @flat4alfa.

IMG_20231013_1115292.thumb.jpg.fee3a544ef77c97d3310f3b5c81f6433.jpg

I mean, it's been tolerably repainted without too much paint ending up on the original stickers.

IMG_20231013_1115582.thumb.jpg.917413e834272570f8a0d6fa5984c080.jpg

Some lighter blue paint seems to be just about visible under the darker blue enamel. Annoying that the roof skylights seem to have been given a coat too.

IMG_20231013_1115412.thumb.jpg.e3ec36c3b8b574c671ca341f0bfd87bd.jpg

Base hints at its conversion origins from its earlier Corgi incarnation as a mobile shop. Interestingly this doesn't use a post rivet to secure the base, instead having a tongue at the back slotting into the body casting and two sticky-out bits up front which have been mauled enough to stop them from coming out again.

And what's this crazy futurism from the early 1960s?

IMG_20231013_1155532.thumb.jpg.481d6806e0285e5e1166036c071ac743.jpg

Wow. Little did they know, one day every new vehicle would be fitted with a clown.

Mind-blowing stuff.

Will set this aside for you, dude!

Wet stuff continues to fall out of the sky, a sort out in the loft beckons.

Things may be up for grabs later, starting with Corgi Juniors

Sticking with Corgi, here's another Thames Airborne Caravan - this time, the two-tone green version so recently remanufactured by Corgi Model Club.

IMG_20231013_1116192.thumb.jpg.99c8133b5b33ca6989b75111de5b3574.jpg

It's not in terrible condition, on balance.

IMG_20231013_1116252.thumb.jpg.3e5822bdfe6b25a5d7707877735109d4.jpg

Could do with a bath, mind.

IMG_20231013_1116322.thumb.jpg.48dfc95cf324394ae644525b6cf5c483.jpg

Annoyingly, it does have a snapped-off peg on one of the doors:

IMG_20231013_1117092.thumb.jpg.edd71edfc00b11695e73900fd4a89454.jpg

Not the end of the world, as it still tension-fits into the door gap for display purposes.

Just don't go giving it to any kiddywinks to play with, because DANGER.

I formerly had a two-tone blue example, and still have an original pink/purple version as well as the green CMC remake, so this is kinda surplus.

Available for the £5 paid!

**EDIT: NOW TAKEN!!**

And he'd also nabbed this Rio Mercedes staff car from the tub of boxed stuff:

IMG_20231013_0728232.thumb.jpg.f5c7e916fa682d57cbcf0c2de608cbd7.jpg

Despite having more than a touch of axle shonk and, y'know, having actual Nazi insignia on it, this was quite nice.

Come for the tat, stay for the lebensraum, hey?

But I just couldn't convince myself that any of the tat from the case was worth dropping a tenner on... so I went for a tootle round the other stalls to see if that would otherwise cure me.

I had one of those once and stuck it on Ebay, it sold for pounds lots. A few months later I found another one cheaply so thought I'd have another go. It got pulled by Ebay as someone had complained. Since then I have always obscured the offending insignia and put a note in the description that the item has insignia that might offend. I have sold probably 4 since the initial one, but they have never reached the price of the first.

Keeping with Thames, but swapping over to Dinky, here's the Atlas Copco compressor lorry:

IMG_20231013_1117432.thumb.jpg.706cccd0b2eb00c8af59b632168685d0.jpg

The none-too-concours brushwork indicates that this was a yellow vehicle which went red for a spell, and then back to yellow again.

IMG_20231013_1117492.thumb.jpg.13be00818f2709a79601402279961882.jpg

There seems to be something missing from the rear - pneumatic pipes, maybe?

IMG_20231013_1117572.thumb.jpg.1e842f749ba614537af61e19dbc6cca6.jpg

Despite the missing tyres, it also seems to have working steering, after a fashion. Certainly, the front axle appears to pivot.

IMG_20231013_1118062.thumb.jpg.92e853c71ff0382547cf902e83e29656.jpg

Both the compressor access hatches are still in place, and the machinery inside is pretty detailed.

IMG_20231013_1118162.thumb.jpg.146c60d23facf3bb285f561b46cdbdd4.jpg

It needs a bit of love, but this is quite an interesting, feature-packed little model.

IMG_20231013_1118272.thumb.jpg.e3ba3d5052443328ca0e4ed82ee7b433.jpg

Even without tyres, it still scales a little smaller than the Corgi - but is no less appealing.

This one's kinda growing on me, but - can't keep 'em all, so also AVAILABLE for the fiver paid.

Staying with Binns Rd products then, here's another Dinky - the Mercedes 250SE with bonus electrickery:

IMG_20231013_1119312.thumb.jpg.ba1c771fc080a0e30d9e4df6d9274eb2.jpg

Slightly chonky body to accommodate all the gubbins, but not in too much of a state.

IMG_20231013_1119402.thumb.jpg.fd0ef27fe72efd8edf0363a34169a197.jpg

Battery cover is missing, as per usual, and the superficially corroded baseplate shows evidence of a bit of battery leakage at some point.

IMG_20231013_1119492.thumb.jpg.83d10f971ddd6cc52b443b511fb6531b.jpg

No evidence of working stop lights yet, but since the Duracell within has an expiry date of March 1997, I'd say that's to be expected.

IMG_20231013_1120002.thumb.jpg.6765ebaf5521bb725e7e299ed58bc9fb.jpg

Headlamp lenses aren't in great shape, but don't detract too much from its displayability, I reckon. Mercedes badge from atop the grille cowling is long gone, however.

IMG_20231013_1120152.thumb.jpg.0d59638f53da8a81577fa6c0de2146d9.jpg

Rear lights are a little less exposed, and as such haven't suffered as much. The paper numberplate sticker is ok too.

I'll not lie, I kinda like this one myself. I've bought and sold a few of these in the past, as they're not mega-rare - hell, there was another in the same tat case, just with less paint - but then I always sorta regret selling them.

Mmmph.

Fiver takes this, if anyone wants to save me from myself...

**EDIT - SPOKEN FOR!!**

PILEN FRIEND!

That's look great just cleaned up with some wheels fitted I reckon. That lime green is by far the rarer colour for those, and more like the real thing.

Lastly this morning, an early Corgi Chevrolet Impala:

IMG_20231013_1118522.thumb.jpg.c29dc02227a300137a32fecb7cd97731.jpg

This is actually the one I wanted most from the case, as it's in not terrible shape

IMG_20231013_1118572.thumb.jpg.e236390acdff399e9496519444a7262c.jpg

The paint's quite chipped, but the glazing has only minor marks to it.

IMG_20231013_1119182.thumb.jpg.46badbd50e4ec9d443581e8502c8f798.jpg

I'm interested in doing a side-by-side with the later Corgi version of the Impala, which had a horizontally split body/base casting to allow a vacuum-plated 'chrome' insert for grille, side brightwork and rear lights.

IMG_20231013_1119042.thumb.jpg.1771d56d6b5418c86e9ebc19c455faac.jpg

There's still something otherworldly about these cars; I dunno if this is a long-term keeper but I think I'll hang on to it for now.

Soooo... guess I might head on over for another poke around. Just in case anything else has surfaced, you understand...

Well, I stumped back over to the market at lunchtime, but there wasn't really much of note to be spotted:

IMG_20231013_1317552.thumb.jpg.a3a65e5f45adc1866c8829e33d920121.jpg

Some of the buses had gone - though not the Merc Hopper, surprisingly.

A few of the old, loose items had found their way up top onto the main stall:

IMG_20231013_1319072.thumb.jpg.80549be1a3a42e223f8eb47ff2f89097.jpg

Although, since two of them were simply rougher versions of the ones I'd picked up earlier, they didn't really tempt me so very much...

The Charity Stall was already all packed up, while Alan's fine wares on the 50p Tray didn't quite make me want to start flinging banknotes in his general direction:

IMG_20231013_1321562.thumb.jpg.bd53bdded0050babe4a12a7359ac87e4.jpg

Though inflation continues to strike deep at the market:

IMG_20231013_1322112.thumb.jpg.d1afc79269db287912d0bd403267979d.jpg

Yes, there's now a 75p section of the stall - for when 50p just won't cover it.

So that was that for today, pretty much... more of a mop-up exercise than a tat extravaganza, I'm afraid - but ain't that just the way it goes, sometimes?

Oh, and no shade on the kids or whoever put these together - but they're really not that scary, surely?

IMG_20231013_1327042.thumb.jpg.13beeda40e75ad4a888106a172861683.jpg

I did swing past one of Belfast's larger branches of Poundland on my way back to the office, and was gratified to see they have some of the newer Matchbox releases on the pegs:

In the 80's, before globalism, bringing a tray of Orangina bottles home from a French holiday was pure exotica. The drink equivalent of bringing home a Norev Jet-car.

Not a ringer, just same owner

In Germany, the number plate is registered to the car’s owner rather than the car itself. So when you sell a car, you take the number plate with you and transfer it to your next car.

So did Wolfgang Shonkenstrieder own the VW first or not?  Was it an upgrade or downgrade I wonder?

On a scale of sophistication having access to continental fizzy drinks in glass bottles that was just above flying by Lear Jet. I remember my dad bringing Mustard back from France, presumably the mustard in the U.K. was shit. Wine was another, I’m guessing at the time wine of a drinkable quality was difficult to find in the U.K.
