I quite like that

Are you keeping it?

I'd be happy for it to go to a good home.

Do you have any Escorts (FORD) that you'd like to swap?

Scalextric size, you say?  Tick.

Lowish centre of gravity for a diecast bodyshell?  Tick.

Raised rear seat area for the pull-back motor, can I see?  Tick.

Interesting colour and decals intact.  Tick.

Potential to fit this gubbins instead:

Result:  Unique and improved.

All my 1:43 Corgi ones are gone.

Might have a couple of recent Hot Wheels MK1, but everybody has those

What scale and which mark?

Not Hot Wheels, thanks... MK3, something plastic and made in Hong Kong?

I should have one or two Scalextric MK3 bodyshells if you want to build something?

Works out to be approx 1:30 in length.  And lardy in width, so ideal toy-likeness.  Sold!

Will have to take a look up in loft later on.  Will continue on PM

This is the remainder of the job lot, in which I have no interest, so shout if any of these take your fancy before they go on ebay.

Is the Scammel Circus truck gone?

Never mind for Dan, that's ideal for mine!

In fact, if I can lay hands on a cheapo Dinky CF... ;)

Fiver including postage for an AA van? Glass good, a few chips in the paint, wheels are black. Looks like an ideal basis for a little custom project to me....

Edit: Just found a photo with it on view....

I'll have to pack it up and weigh it tomorrow, but it's a big heavy thing so postage might be quite a bit. I'd want £10 + p&p, so might work out at about £15?

Sounds about right to me :)  PM me and we'll get it in motion.

That's actually too nice for my purposes!  Mind if I give it a coat of thinking-about?  I have a sub-collection of AA vans, but I'd have to check the cabinet (which is upstairs) to make sure I wouldn't be duplicating.  Results tomorrow sometime.

Well, it's definitely a little on the dark side these mornings - even if the clock change will soon be upon us...

IMG_20231013_0721542.thumb.jpg.15d26cc55466b9e4a7bccd79cc508d6b.jpg

But - the market lights burn all the brighter for it.

IMG_20231013_0722072.thumb.jpg.2e24595812a659a27077626b7b8b3ca3.jpg

In fairly early today, with many of the stalls still slumbering behind their sheets...

IMG_20231013_0722452.thumb.jpg.a12e0043a4d7b2a1998853fb22bd4818.jpg

But the burning question was - will there be tat, or have I hauled my lazy arse out of bed for nowt again?

Ah.

IMG_20231013_0723052.thumb.jpg.e3a113e85c0accdb377d0474e9c56998.jpg

There is tat.

Phew.

Naturally, I'd been out-Nemesis'd again - I knew he was in already, as I can now recognise his car outside - but it's alright. He's a sound lad.

His pockets are enviably deeper than mine, but he's sound. We've all got our life choices, hey?

And what was there to tempt and tickle this morning.

Ehhh...

IMG_20231013_0724202.thumb.jpg.c1b6931e5f4c2ab64ef3179b9813e869.jpg

Mmm. Well, alright.

The still-sealed OOC buses were, at least, pretty good value at 3-for-£10 or £4 individually.

IMG_20231013_0724392.thumb.jpg.01cb9a91f0ef3caf9e45d887c3e19957.jpg

Stevensons Dennis Dart was, however, claimed mere moments after I snapped this, by a random passing punter.

IMG_20231013_0724432.thumb.jpg.fc91561dfecd0108e0c29deaa6789dd5.jpg

Plaxton Beaver in First Calderline livery also of some potential interest, though didn't set my heart on fire.

IMG_20231013_0724292.thumb.jpg.c33045143b08d4ddfa0beb121655ef62.jpg

Russian partwork GAZ ambulance was one I've owned before - only mine came from Poundland back in the good old days when 'Yes! Everything's a pound!' was still their slogan...

IMG_20231013_0726292.thumb.jpg.e32637f7313f620b576ab3e8443863de.jpg

A few loose buses up top made up the rest.

The stall was packed, but mostly with china and glassware.

IMG_20231013_0822312.thumb.jpg.504b6530ab3be534db2dc20382dd30a3.jpg

A busted flush?

But then I spotted...

Yes, it was the case of shonky old diecast from a few weeks back.

IMG_20231013_0742012.thumb.jpg.a2288bf48e42d3ccd4d0e784c306a127.jpg

The case of fairly pricey shonky old diecast from the other week.

IMG_20231013_0734272.thumb.jpg.5964ba204f241be06f7c7a6516ea5c45.jpg

Yoink.

Surprisingly enough*, not much has sold since last we saw it.

IMG_20231013_0736142.thumb.jpg.36b633f99da3685fa4a79a06c819e47b.jpg

Hongwell Minis were still there, and the later Dinky MG Midget hadn't come across my notice last time - but a chunk out of the wing rather spoiled my appetite for it. Corgi Riviera was alright too.

IMG_20231013_0745242.thumb.jpg.070a89deea2d700fa16b56e87d23cd04.jpg

Some big military movers were still in evidence, too - in varying states of disrepair.

IMG_20231013_0743352.thumb.jpg.eecfc853bdb1549416a96b31ee6121e8.jpg

I think these Jags twinsies have had rather a bad time of it in a bench vice, going by the flattened headlight recesses and bent-inward baseplates.

IMG_20231013_0746102.thumb.jpg.27fc55186b0067e47d3c8cbb1d3ee14c.jpg

Engine detail's still nice, though.

IMG_20231013_0749172.thumb.jpg.16d3046f092c6ad7875522ed6d15cb6c.jpg

Knackered Dinky Bullnose Morris Oxford is the 'Parsley the Lion' release, maybe?

Not very much left of it now, at any rate.

IMG_20231013_0737002.thumb.jpg.38faca0daa06d35b2ba83f8a5b4a07fc.jpg

Corgi Chipperfields Karrier ticket office is a playworn repaint on the wrong tyres, but actually not as rough as I'd thought it was last time.

Some of the, ahem, restorations on offer were definitely of the functional variety, rather than elegant in their execution...

IMG_20231013_0749422.thumb.jpg.dbf31499a2dbd83b587c97d611c30428.jpg

Yeah, that's not going to be getting a UKCA/ CE mark anytime soon...

The Nemesis had made his selection for the morning:

IMG_20231013_0748592.thumb.jpg.ad70120f88188166b9cf9af327deb8f1.jpg

And he'd also nabbed this Rio Mercedes staff car from the tub of boxed stuff:

IMG_20231013_0728232.thumb.jpg.f5c7e916fa682d57cbcf0c2de608cbd7.jpg

Despite having more than a touch of axle shonk and, y'know, having actual Nazi insignia on it, this was quite nice.

Come for the tat, stay for the lebensraum, hey?

But I just couldn't convince myself that any of the tat from the case was worth dropping a tenner on... so I went for a tootle round the other stalls to see if that would otherwise cure me.

Colin's Cornucopia of Irish Tat hadn't a lot new: some extra Hot Wheels were in evidence...

IMG_20231013_0800032.thumb.jpg.2416fb17d48140ff8477040eee241fbf.jpg

First time I've seen the recent-case Merc SEL release in silver.

And also some more Premiums:

IMG_20231013_0759582.thumb.jpg.c2b5b7ecb459fa61db325b790a364620.jpg

The Volvo 142 was, however, also Nemesis'd in short order.

IMG_20231013_0759352.thumb.jpg.805e3e62c660b005d78ea90bec0c6dd5.jpg

Apparently there's some more Corgi Vanguards in the pipeline, but they're not here just yet.

IMG_20231013_0759292.thumb.jpg.7a7ae1fda74da697b3e84051c4d68c6a.jpg

He also has some more of the £7.50 Atlas French light commercials arriving soon, which interests me. I already have a Citroen Safari from another partwork collection, otherwise I'd be sure to have nabbed this by now...

Larry's Independent Traders had not a lot of interest that was new - just the same unsold stuff from last week:

IMG_20231013_0804002.thumb.jpg.651752729eb8960789d9df340022e0ac.jpg

A small bag of toys including some wheeled objects was visible, but they seemed not really our kinda thing...

IMG_20231013_0804172.thumb.jpg.befc8a902fa8b5c8ee8327c03b1ba25b.jpg

Naah.

Further down from the main Tat Stall, Bobby Optimism was still keepin' on the sunny side with his selection of chipped and overpainted £25 Lesneys.

IMG_20231013_0723132.thumb.jpg.4b084ec81952af8978bbe6408230cd8c.jpg

Never worry, I'm sure someone will buy them - there's always a bigger idiot somewhere...

Alan and his Emporium, meanwhile, were setting up so incrementally it made plate tectonics look a bit hasty and careless.

But all I could see there were more unboxed £8 Days Gone, so I decided not to waste my pixels snapping 'em.

Graaaah...

Still, a good day for pigeonshite.com's roving market reporter, no doubt.

IMG_20231013_0805392.thumb.jpg.9224e9b668b5d459d4c9b544064b1de1.jpg

Or anyone wanting to get the jump on C*******s decorating, grandma-style.

IMG_20231013_0726542.thumb.jpg.60111f5a186e36afcd648295a422342e.jpg

But then, as I was preparing to slope off, mildly dejected, I asked Market Blokey what money he had on the old knackers in the case today...

"Eh, I've broke even with that lot now so - down to a fiver each."

Well alright.

IMG_20231013_0823182.thumb.jpg.82b20c7720a29a915aa49f4446ab1cf2.jpg

He's an E-Class Merc kinda guy, it turns out. W211 flavour.

Though I believe he also has a V6 Omega...
