This was Sainsbury. Just the one shelf.  Two Real Riders Bugattis undercutting Smyths by 99p.  No mainline singles whatsoever

Positive spin on it now, at least it’s available in Morrison’s, Tesco and B&M so that’s a start

Just Hot Wheels in B&M.  Lots kicked under the shelves, filthy under there too.  Hoped there would be a Cadillac Seville, but no.  Lots of the white Camaro environmental art car and the Doner Kebab thing.

I propose we set up ‘Matchbox Watch’ and report back sightings. Nipped in Tescos tonight, obtained the green/grey Capri and the F150 lightning.

The Corgi Marlin was really nice and I’d like it

I think the yellow and orange lorry (Bedford maybe?) was £10 which seamed dear to me.

IMG_6021.thumb.JPG.740222a2cd2825830e8ba4b3fa762897.JPG

This box was on the floor so maybe cheaper?

IMG_6022.thumb.JPG.80dafeb45786a08d43230915783e390b.JPG

We are likely to be back to this shop soon so if anyone is interested in anything, let me know

The Corgi Marlin is probably worth that if the screen pillars aren't broken/bent, which seems common on that one (like both I have here!).  The Yellow lorry is a the Corgi ERF Cement, would struggle to get a fiver in that condition

Middle tray has the mid-seventies orange/yellow Matchbox SuperKings DAF car transporter which is the most valuable there.  Do you recall price on it?  Likely more than a tenner if the ERF is ten!

Bottom tray has another of those DAFs looking nicely faded.  The gawky Dukes of Hazzard General Lee is a stunt car and they go for £5 without much trouble.  The late-seventies Matchbox Mini Ha Ha is worth picking up if tidy, not rare though, I have about four of the blighters

I phrased that badly, the orange yellow transporter was £10.

I'll see how much the General Lee is next time.

I think the Marlin was good, but will have a better look at it. I have bought stuff from there before and if you buy a few can get £s knocked off.

Do you know what the little muscle cars (as in what toy manufacturer) in the first tray are? I thought they were nice, but don't want to get into that scale so didn't really look at what they are.

Sorry yes I perhaps misread anyhow.

I was just identifying, it's not worth bothering on that General Lee.

I'd be happy with a fiver on the Marlin - if those pillars are good and the glazing isn't cracked.  But please don't go there especially for just that.

Top tray is majority Mattel Hot Wheels and recent (last decade).  Odd ones out are the late-1970s Matchbox in bottom right corner:  Ford Model A and the Donald Duck buggy.  Perhaps the two above Donald aren't Hot Wheels either, but not sure.

Been in a few junk shops today and this plastic Muscle car caught my eye, at first I thought it was meant to be a T-Bird, but having looked through my book of muscle cars I leaning towards a 67 Olds Cutlass. Anyone know what the model is?

IMG_6018.thumb.JPG.1403b73553a04d749aae9d3d55ee44cc.JPG

Yes, 1966-67 Old Cutlass, probably a Hurst 442 or wannabe with that supercharged engine poking out the hood.

Thought it might be the Monogram 1:25 kit but too many differences and kit was moulded in white with plastic moulded much better than that I think.

Looks much cheaper plastic with less detail, so wondered on Eldon, but came up with nothing better

We had a Westland Sea King Helicopter fly over earlier.

158877473_download(1).jpg.be5a3f322c0a03c6cbb38d87e9b80d44.jpg

It came back and stopped, hovering above, making a right racket.  We haven't seen the cat since.

It lowered some heavy cargo down to our garden, causing much curtain twitching throughout the neighbourhood.

Whilst I was signing the delivery note, Farmer Tom appeared from nowhere and staked a claim to it - before I got the chance to look at it.  Which is just as well, as the wife was in.  Good delay tactic there, old Tom.

The note states it was sent over from deepest Hampshire by a @danthecapriman

Mrs CSW's Disco 3 has been in the garage for nearly two weeks, so thought I would buy her a model to remind her that she still owns one.

Its the only one I could find in the same colour. Same spec too.

Never bought in this scale before or had something from Britain's.

Must say, its pretty good. Very good likeness. Im impressed.

I have 1 in 1/18 and it weighs a ton ,very well detailed but has dropped its mirrors whilst in storage.

The Disco 3 seems to translate very well into a scale model for some reason.

Bburago used to be the masters of the accurate 1/24, the Freelander they did was superb. They sort of reached a high for quality about 1999ish and at the time weren’t all that expensive.

I was just looking at the 70s - 90s ones I have on my shelves and I definitely agree!

I have the Bburago Capri, and a few annoyances aside, it's excellent.

I think it's more accurate, proportionally, than the 1:18 Norev rendition. Infuriating, though, that it says 1973 on it for some reason.

See I’d disagree, it looks a wee bit too short. Any why’s it got the wheels of a Capri LS on it if it’s a 2.8? Plus the wipers are about six inch thick. On the other hand I’ve seen their other recent 1/24 and they look good just think the Capri wasn’t their finest hour.

The wheels were the most annoying thing for me, yeah. TBH I kinda meant it was excellent compared with certain of Bburago's other 1:24 efforts from earlier, which seemed a bit toy-like by comparison.

And why have I a daft yearning for Ice Cream Vans recently.

Well, more swings and roundabouts today, kids - which I suppose is pretty much how it goes most weeks.

You'd think I'd be used to it by now.

First up: BUSES.

1223447018_IMG_20230203_0804492.thumb.jpg.757f00e4572ec5e88bde5dc0bf623c57.jpg

I know I say it every week, but crikey - for someone who sets up stalls on a bi-weekly basis, you'd think he'd be a bit better at it by now.

Or maybe he just chucks it out like that cos it gives me something to do.

Once tidied a little, here's what we have this week:

Mostly older stuff - though the Dart at the top left is a Code 3 repaint.

More Atlas mystery coaches, too.

Not so very much this week...

I can't now remember if the Western National/ Badgerline Mercedes Hopper is the same as the one I picked up for @Cookiesouwest last year?

MoYs and Days Gone. Roll up, roll up.

1466619433_IMG_20230203_0809332.thumb.jpg.b7acab3dc26048daccb1e66ced2b6244.jpg

Royal Wedding noncemobile packaging has taken a battering. Certainly a smidge unappealing, for all manner of reasons...

Although, this Renault van does have some appeal - maybe we should be re-evaluating some of these 1950s era DGs?

I really liked these at the time - the Morris LD150 profiled yesteday was a really nicely done model (though once I procured a City Models version in 1/43, it's fair to say the Lledo example fell out of favour a bit).

Hard to know what to do with all the Ford Model T vans, though - this looks like a very early Oxford Diecast product.

Unfortunately the Herpa Setra coach wasn't there this week - though that doesn't mean it won't resurface at some point in the future...

Up top, things were mostly stuff that we've seen before:

Plenty of boxless Lledo and Models of Yesteryear; plus those damaged Rio pre-war models:

Gold-plate Corvette was interesting; no maker's mark anywhere that I could see, though.

New Ray 1/32 motorbikes and scooters, for those who may be interested:

1136000097_IMG_20230203_0812162.thumb.jpg.2eca387029243480de4ff8bf02af6fda.jpg

Plus this larger scale Lambretta, seemingly made by an outfit called Xonex:

203450625_IMG_20230203_0812402.thumb.jpg.b7700022fd24df70bd435bc56f4c2ce0.jpg

And quite a few smol (1/100?) locomotives from around the world:

The red car seems to be a closed-bodied Jaguar SS100 by Atlas - it's not in tremendous nick, with a missing headlight and a broken bumper, but shouldn't be more than a few quid if you're interested?

Oxford Thames Walls ice cream van is rather nice - could enquire if I'm back over at lunchtime! Have you a maximum price point in mind for either/ both?

Alright.  I'll bite.  How much is that Renault Goelette.

They are gopping, but the own-brand livery appeals - even if not period-correct as the Goelette was new for 1947

If only because I've been in the store and ought to go back.  It's been open there for 112 years, you know
