Shite in Miniature II

I spent 10 years selling diecasts, and to some people it was like a drug, they had to get their weekly 'hit', and having a shop, well it was like a man creche, the kettle was always on, and there was always banter. Regular punters got to know each other, and some of them even became drinking buddies as well. I do miss that part of it, but it's a cut throat business. You have to go pretty far to find diecast shops around here now, nearest one is 30 miles away for me now, we have a tiny model railway shop on the outskirts, and that's it.

I collect 1/43 scale cars now, I used to collect model buses, and had several hundred, but got rid when I moved. The 'fleet' changes regularly, and its a hobby that funds its self mostly now. New release stuff I normally get from Mr Lobster of this parish, older stuff its ebay & facebook groups. I've started to 'tinker' with a few models these days, and am currently on the hunt for a Vanguards Mk3 Cortina in Hampshire Police livery, which I intend to 'giffer up'.

I don't collect many myself  although I do have a few 1:18s and a few 1:43s  - I suppose I look at it all too much as profit and stock rather and ultimately if I started keeping much then I'd end up skint pretty quick.  We get a lot of stuff that I'd really like but if I started having a few for myself I'd end up never making any money.

Those which I do keep tend to be French and I do like a nice diorama. Quick piccy of my 'garage' below - R5 was a Solido rally car which arrived damaged and lift is a Truescale Snap On item which was also slightly damaged and an easy repair.  I need to find something to make some nice walls and tidy it up a bit. I've got a Sunoco oil pack that was returned with damaged packaging thats going in here at some point. If I had time / space I'd like a full 1:18 garage diorama but that might have to wait till I retire in 30 years...

I might take a few pics of a few others later if I get chance.

That's brill. I'd like to do a diorama of Kwik-Fit, complete with piles of no-brand tyres and fitters with tattooed necks and authentic criminal records, and a 1:18 decayed Aiwa mini-system not-quite-tuned to Heart FM.

Did someone say diorama?

Well, I'm not so much into dolls houses myself, but a friend of mine is.

I built many of the car models for it.

Yet another friend - I only seem to know normal people - made this to display his collection of

Renwal 1966 Exner Neo-Classics at a model show:

Does anybody have any spare 1/43 wheels and tyres kicking about that might fit a BMW e46 m3 by Minichamps? Fitted the originals to a Gama corsa many years ago which looks too good to take apart again.

I've got a set from an E36 Touring Car if they're any use. They're the BBS type & the tyres are slicks but you wouldn't notice  :-D.

Graeme Bburago has a shedload of 1/43 wheels knocking about Ian that I think he's trying to offload

155v6, I was just reglueing the very same wheels to the very same model and thought how perfect they would look on the e46. Can you 'hit me up' with a price please?

On the third day of Christmas RedSparrow sent to me...three Skoda Estelles. These are GR800, thanks mate!

And these, equally fine models but a bit too modern to count as shite yet. The lettering on the Fabia translates as 'emergency buses' so I guess it's some sort of bus company support vehicle.

Bloody hell the arrived quickly! I only posted them on friday, 2nd class.

The 120 with 'DP' on it is a 1980s support car for public transport - like a mobile mechanic for trams and buses, in Prague mainly.

The white Fabia is the same thing but the modern equivalent. The logo is the state transport company.

Thanks for the extra info. I wasn't expecting to get them today, what with it being Christmas and all, but the postman rang the doorbell at lunchtime. I guess I need to find a 1/72 Czech bus to go with that Estelle now.

That's exactly the one I was just looking at, then I got distracted by a South American collection called "Autobuses del Mundo" that contains all sorts of weird and wonderful things. I have a bit of a thing for foreign coaches so I wish I could get them over here.

Mrs Rocker couldn't find any of my diecast wish list this year.   So she used her best guess as to what I might like.   Very happy, I was on Crimbo morning......

Latest additions to the fleet. All the boxed models are Minichamps, and came from Germany, the unboxed chod are 'projects'. The Capri is the first issue Cararama model, with poseable wheels and opening doors

I suspect this might have been what you'd term "A bit of a find".

St Helena Hospice shop. Frinton-On-Sea. Large collection of what appear to be new-old stock models of varying qualities; among which this:

No evidence that it's ever been out the box, even has those little clear plastic clips that hold the doors open and which I'd forgotten all about.

Probably not actually worth anything but I paid £3.50 which is, in my mind, a bargain.

They also have an early Sierra Ghia (three slot wheeltrims) in the same scale in "Sierra" branded box, but it was up at £8 so I bottled it.

That Rover is a cracker. I've got a police version and it's a pretty good casting; don't remember seeing a civilian one so it might be rare-ish. (Or I might be talking rubbish - someone knowledgeable will be along in a minute.)

My little diecast haul from this Christmas. As can be seen from my previous pics, I am a bit of a closet old skool Ford fan, and seeing as most of the real thing are out of my league price wise, I make up for it in diecast! I already have most of the Vanguards mk1 Escys, and had to have this one. I remember an RS2000 around here years ago with the sebring red/yellow stripe combo and four football sized Cibies like this one.

I missed out on most of the standard spec Vanguard XR3is when they came out, and they quickly went up to silly money. I already have the less detailed haynes version with the booklet though. Didnt really fancy a police version, though they can still be had for reasonable money. So I set my sights on the Modelzone boy racer version, it made sense as I already have the rest of the Vanguards boy racer series. Pretty well observed this one, with the 'Stylistick' stripes, 'tailblazer' in the rear screen and Ripspeed sticker on the tailgate. Takes me back to 1993, when I was doing very similar to a China blue mk3 popular...

So, have to find room in the display cabinet now. Ive already had a signal green mk2 mexico waiting its turn since last christmas!

Ooft good spottage on that Sterling. I had one when I was a nipper that was silver over grey

Minichamps BMW M3 e46. Bought 13 years ago, sat in a box for 12 with no wheels which I'd robbed for a project. Brought back to life today with BBS wheels which were kindly given to me by 155v6 I much prefer these to the original wheels.
