Why did so many model it? Did it look modern back in the late 50’s?

Everything Forward-Control / Cab-Over-Engine seemed the future, the main selling point being space-efficiency and compactness.  The FC was the first complete new design since the 1940s from Willys and involved designer Brooks Stevens.

Two Jeep FC were built to do the 1960 Anglo-African Trans-World Safari.  Modified 170 cab-and-chassis units were shipped to Cape Town from the US.  Then they were built into comprehensive living quarters and equipment fit-out.  Derek Linton from Hampshire led the 9-vehicle convoy.

So Corgi created a prototype

It’s in pretty decent condition really, but the paint is extremely faded. Looks like it’s been sat in the sun for a long time.

The Dinky Lincoln were made in GB at 1:43, not one of the 'inherited' Spot-On 1:42 designs

Got this too. 
Damaged roof rack and the clear case it comes in was cracked but that made it cheaper. Won’t be needing them though as this will be going in the stripper and joining my SEB fleet!

Poundstretcher continues to stock up with some pricey-ish older Matchbox longcards:

Think these are at least a couple of years old now.

Also some early 2023 boxed ones, which I kinda like more than the blister card examples:

I guess they remind me of the Lesney era ones from my very early memories.

Plus, easier to store.

I'm hopeful that in a few weeks these will all be OMFG HALF PRICE!!! and then you can all see how abysmally weak-willed I am.

Oh, and there was a Super Chase Corvette there too. Anyone want it?

I also reunited Friday's Super Kings K-24 Scammell Container Truck with a plastic box container I had lying around.

Rather like the earlier all-metal LEP container version, the box sits quite high on this - but I still like it.

It's not in perfect shape, but I reckon it's clean enough.

I do love the paint on this one. Very lustrous.

The Michelotti styling is just lovely on this. It really is one of my favourite toy trucks.

Good to have one again.

I really need to find a Corgi Major Scammell too...

Some recent finds in no particular order. 

Matchbox Model A in slightly unusual red.

Tomica Lotus Europa. 

Matchbox DAF container truck.

A brace of Corgi Minis in two different flavours. 

Slightly worse for wear Dinky Police Mini,that looks like it's been rammed.

Slightly disappointing Lone Star Corvair. 

Dinky Range Rover ambulance. 

Lastly this quite tidy Corgi AMC Pacer.

Exciting news, the unit previously occupied by Wilko (RIP) in my town is going to be a One Below - possibly the most southern one? I only see them when I go up the country normally. What with the huge House of Fraser site becoming The Range as of December, I'm going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to die cast hunting. Maybe.

One Below have just shut down their branch in Cumbernauld, but then it was located in the deadest of dead malls.

They rarely had any HM or MB, just those generic Teamsterz cars, which make my teeth itch.
