'They've got everything!', including : 'Non-scratch tyres'

Got a couple of those.  Or might be three.  Not sure. Can't getting to that room anymore

‘Non scratch tyres’ look more like knobbly off reading tyres to me!😆

I think the non-scratch tyres was a supposed benefit of the rubber tyres being less likely to scratch up mummy and daddies latest G-Plan dining table than the hard plastic and metal ones found on Matchbox offerings.

Husky Studebaker is also really nice, but missing the camera man. Fine with me, I’ll make a replacement rear roof section from plastic card and cover the broken hole.

He is a bit portly

Always seems to be missing (maybe he died young?) so was lucky to get this one.

He is a fat little knacker isn’t he!
I’d have preferred them to have not added things like that to these toys tbh. Just give me a normal car! It’s why I’m happy not having the figure on my new blue one. I’ll just do something to make it similar to the Matchbox version but non opening.

Is that SideKick an older version or a later release version? I think that came in a few colours over the years?

Have this one, from the re-release series.  It's a 2000, your blue one is 2002

Pull the exhaust piece out, to open the buttplug seat.

That's would be a missed opportunity*

Why not fashion a big ladder out of toothpicks and then hang figures from it

I wouldn't say they were though

The Bedford RL still has the rear deck cover, well worth a fiver.

So I've persuaded Mrs TOS that we should have a shelf in our study (we both work from home) dedicated to....

"Cars I've owned, wish to own, or wish I could afford (within reason)"

I already have a couple of MR2s, a GR Supra, the current Milk Float incarnated and one or two others.

So following on from my watch on eBay of minty Jensen Interceptors, I will also be looking for mint:

Lancia Delta Integrale (preferably with Rally livery)

Mitsubishi Evo 8

Mk1 MR2

60s Mustang Fastback

Volvo P1800 coupe

Mk1 Golf GTi

VW Karmann Ghia

1960s Mercedes SL

1960s "Hakosuka" Skyline GT-R (I'm aware this might be pushing it - I've never come across one).

That'll do for now... I know i have great taste in cars of course.

Yeah, so this is a problem. Some stuff I have is 1:64. However, my MR2s are 1:43. The Jensens are also 1:43, so I suppose that.
but I've a feeling it will limit me with some of the more difficult items.

Everything you have listed is available new or used, in both those scales

She didn't say no when I laughed about it...

Sadly, don't have the room for the storage units above. When we moved to our current abode last year, I persuaded her to move to 4 bookcases from our then 8. I don't think me starting a miniature car collection will end well

Popped into Entertainer to see if they got any Hot Wheels on their delivery - no mainlines but they had an unmolested box of Boulevards, so I grabbed the two that seem to vanish as soon as they hit the shelves

Tomica and Greenlight releases in 1:64 above are well-regarded.  But most easy to find would be Hot Wheels in 1:64, plenty of colour schemes to choose from here.

Why stop there?  A page or two back there is a set with a Hakosuka AND a Japan Skyline AND a Kenmeri

20230614_185136.jpg

Available today in your local Smyths toy shop

Then get started on the 1:43

I also rescued a solitary black Matchbox from the charity shop

20230615_161918.thumb.jpg.c784f6727e156c03429cc35fc0f45d52.jpg20230615_162616.thumb.jpg.f17efef5e6abebc40c7a7282c77be388.jpg

Which is something I make a bit of a habit of. This came out of another shop in Basildon a few months ago, it was so shabby I didn't bother posting it.

2023-06-15_04-28-52.thumb.jpg.949f6b6ad927de83bbb5bc05d5142c5e.jpg2023-06-15_04-29-03.thumb.jpg.a8e7a88673338081f55017efca18c47f.jpg

I thought I might as well tidy it up, so it came apart and the glass got a bath in peroxide to get rid of the yellowing. Wheels were replaced with modern Matchbox ones and the suspension spring tweaked to lower the front.

Body got a coat of black and that was supposed to be it - but it wasn't very interesting so I thought a little dusting of pink pearl might liven it up a bit. Well!
