I doubt anyone here would complain too loudly if you did... ?

Yes, you definitely should if you're lucky /organised enough to know where they are. I'm starting to run out of places to look for some of my old stuff having not even thought about it for years. The amount of times I see eighties Corgi and Matchbox stuff pictured on here and think "I've got one of them somewhere" is surprising.

Similar to others the favourites I had as a kid were stuff that everybody’s dad had back then, Matchbox Rover Sterling, Cavalier, Escort XR3i. That’s why I liked Majorettes - it was stuff you’d find in the street.

Me too I love the majorette models and have been looking for more.. I have also done some custom paint jobs on them

Nope, the back wheels are free spinning.  Chas found it in a box of 200+ cars after being shown your photo.

Also found this, I have the ambulance somewhere too

Nice! Pretty sure the one I had as a child was yellow but it's another one I haven't seen in ages

Posted

I had a plain blue one which was lovely and a tatty yellow one. Both long gone now.

Posted

A decent Lotus Elite is also on my list of 70s/80s Corgis to acquire... the later dark blue examples look pretty classy, I have to say. Think the yellow versions were originally supplied towing a Formula 3000 racing car on a trailer, foreshadowing the black JPS version launched a year or two later.

Posted

My later yellow Elite has racing stickers and the less dished wheels, that definitely came on its own.

My Police Norev 504 is for sales. £8 posted to you lot.

BIG BANGER.  What a name.  Someone has nicked the big banger, as is pretty common, so we'll have to see what I do about that in the future.  But still.  It's call Big Banger.

I picked up a tatty Red Rider today complete with intact engine which looks like it would fit this, needs a bit of attention with the chrome pen but it's yours if you want it?

Hey, glad you enjoyed - and a boxed blue R11 for a fiver seems a decent bargain! Great going...

The different grille is an interesting bit of trivia... I wonder if Corgi quickly re-worked their moulding after the launch of the real car, to better reflect the actual appearance? The silver paint on mine seems to have been spray-masked on, the same process as the red paint for the tail lights... It's neatly done, but just not much like the real car.

Yes, I really enjoyed it too - I had (and indeed still do have) both the beige and blue R11s, being a massive Renault obsessive when I was 4 or 5, so it was really nice to read a detailed write-up of what was one of my favourite toys.  I now feel the urge to dig them out and see what the state of the grille is!

I suspect the boot lid on these may have been rather fragile, as both the beige and the blue have been bootless for many years.....now looking on eBay for complete ones, damn you!  :)

Yes, it's a Charles and Diana Austin Metro.

For the princely (geddit?) sum of £5.

Yes please, Spotted!  Though of course then I'll end up with a Red Rider without an engine, so that's a quandary isn't it?

That C&D Metro always seemed like an odd bit of memorabilia.  It's purple because it's Royal?  It's a Metro because C&D are British?  They're selling it because some people will buy anything?  Very odd.  Nice example though, looks to be about as close to new as it can be without actually being new.

Yeah, it's in good condition, apart from a bit of flat paint on the roof. Might try a bit of t-cut.

that Charles and Diana Metro reminded me to share my own worthkess pice of diecast memoral souvineor crap.

a Corgi Routemaster from 1977, in Silver Jubilee livery. i'm not sure how accurate, if at all this is (was) cos i was little more than a toddler then,

mint and boxed these are worth a fiver, maybe, so my played with one must be worth, what, bugger all?

i've had it from new though and i do remember been told that "one day it will be worth something"

unfortunately for me, that day will be in the year 2419, prehaps.  but thats ok, cos i can play the long game.........

plus Charles did buy Diana a Metro City (thats right, the cheap one, what a tightarse!) new when they were courting and in 1981 the Metro was still the  thing to be "seen" in so Corgi doing a speacial run, of what, 100,000-odd for the Royal Wedding made commercial sense.

Charity shop finds.  This particular charity shop never seems to let me down, maybe because it's in a rather posh area.

Who would have guessed that someone would make a scale Minissima. Corgi must have thought it was going to catch on. :-D

The awfully wonderful Mercedes is branded Summer.

The crane thing has a Honda cab probably getting a different rear treatment when I find something to fit.

25 Routemasters were painted silver for the Jubilee and renumbered SRM 1-25.

Many other operators also painted buses silver for the Jubilee.

While this gets in the resto queue, the least I can do is treat it to a new rear door...

Car boot sale was shit again today.

Picked up these. The Suzuki SJ413 Samurai is the third in my collection now (other two pictured behind). The fire dept pickup is of the same ilk, but no idea what it is meant to be. Izuzu? I'll remove the ladders etc I think. There's also an airport rescue truck. Not my sort of thing, so if anyone wants it?... Last pic is just some bits for my son. Burago Land Rover and Corvette and a Hot wheels 40 Ford custom.

Can’t be sure from pictures but is the Foam thing an Intercom City one? That’s to say it has like a barcode on its base. If it is don’t paint it as they are worth a few quid on eBay.

No, I'm not that lucky.

I'm not as good as some at 'restorations', but here's one I've just finished. A Husky VW pickup in some weird scale - maybe 00?

As I got it. Rear suspension was snapped. I did consider breaking the front too, as that is 'scene' for VWs, but thought better of it.

Instead I created a new rear axle carrier out of pieces of Lego.

Here is the completed truck. Not too bad for freehand brush work if I do say so myself.

That's a really neat job on the VW, it would originally have had a cherry picker thing where the hole in the bed is.  Speak of things in beds, that pick up that you thought might be an Isuzu could actually supposed to be a Toyota Hilux with the stepside bed, like this.

The flange is right below the doorhandle on the fire truck, much lower on the MK1 Hilux.

As far as I know, Majorette were the only ones to produce the MK1 Hilux, with round or square lights and standard and big-wheel guise as above.

They are really uncommon I think they only ran for 1991 as the actual playset was expensive as were the cars to go with it.
