Shite in Miniature II

You spawny so & so! That Ford Incontinental is lush, a mate had a blue one as a kid and I was well jealous, tilting cab on it with the gearstick correctly mounted on top of the engine. Corgi later re-issued this in the classics range as well. I have an Autoshite coloured 240D with a slighlty gubbed windscreen & repaired suspension somewhere

Those BMWs are nice.

3 series looks typical drug dealer chic, low spec with the biggest wheels possible.

I couldn't be at the Swapmeet and not buy anything so picked up this lot.

It was a slow day there, very light on punters probably due to the hot weather.

Now you need some police X5s to TPAC the 3-series on your motorway diorama!

Yeah we know, but how do you like your model cars to be?

Found these crackers at an autojumble for 50p each. :-D

Eko Familiar Fiat 1800 and Minix Anglia. Think I have a A60 of the same ilk somewhere.

Also scored a scabby Corgi Eldorado and a Matchbox Capri in a charity shop.

Got a few of those EKO models, a bit crude some of them but interesting subjects.   The A60 is a Minix.   It's a nice model.

Hey, who'd like to see a plethora of AWFUL photos containing stuff I've recently acquired? Blame my elderly phone and sheer laziness. Here goes.

First up is this tiny package of wonderment. Been waiting ages for this to turn up from the Trademe seller, as he accidentally posted it to someone else and had to wait for it to be returned. Nice of the wrongful recipient to actually do that!

42421092264_ced07ab5a3_z.jpg

It arrived on Saturday (thank you, post boxes on sticks at the end of driveways that hide this sort of activity from other halves), so I started opening it when Mrs_Jon went out to get a hair cut. The cellophane shows you exactly how far I got, when the fire siren went off, so I had to hide it and go to a car accident, instead.

42235814575_a0b76f5c86_z.jpg

I didn't know it was actually sealed in cellphane, as I'd bought a couple of others of the seller before and they hadn't been sealed up like this Simca. Anyway, here's what greeted me upon opening (if you're living vicariously through the medium of my terrible photos, you may as well have the whole nine yards). The plastic base holds some items we'll come back to.

Powder blue and red are brightened up further by a white steering wheel. Incidentally, it has quite squishy suspension and the front wheels steer a bit; just like the Taunus Polizei one I bought a few weeks ago.

But check out those aforementioned extras - tiny bits of luggage! Excuse the sawn off toothpick boot prop but it wouldn't stay open wide enough on its own to disclose the pure glory of these trinkets. Nice jewelled tail lights, too. Admittedly, the casting of the luggage is quite crude but it's better than none at all.

I'll be the first to admit that the box art printing quality is more 'high quality inkjet' than full on commercial grade but it's still nicely done and for less than £8 delivered, I'm very happy with it. But that's not all that arrived that day:

This cardboard edifice arrived in the bag behind it but the courier had dropped it on the doorstep. Thankfully though, I'd had the foresight to lock the front door on my way out to the fire call and Mrs_Jon had the misfortune of forgetting to take her house keys, so she let herself in through a back door I'd accidentally left unlocked and the courier must've stealth delivered it later on. Phew!

But what's inside all the wadding?

I'll leave a gap between this and the revealing image, should you want to undertake a toy model equivalent of a CPTC.

Only a flipping gaily coloured placca Norev Renault 30!

Despite recently dealing with a Plastic Panhard for Junkman, the lightness of construction of this really surprised me. Am I right in thinking the older ones were better made? Either way, it's no wonder that they warp so wantonly and it's surprising to see that any have survived intact at all. Anyway, I couldn't resist it for a shade under £5, delivered!

I've also picked up some 1/64 ish sized items of late:

S685 Racing Car by Summer (made in Hong Kong). 50p

Tomica Mustang II Ghia, repainted. I'll admit I thought it was a Mazda 121 at first, it being from a Japanese manufacturer. 50p

I like this one a lot. Opel Sentor type thing from Playart (Hong Kong). Paint is thin as anything so I imagined it was a re-paint but it's actually factory applied. Again, 50p.

I've also been buying a few new Matchbox/Hotwheels of late and I'm not really sure why. There's no rhyme or reason to the purchases, I just buy what I like when something grabs my fancy. Usually I just buy the boggo basic ones but these 3 grabbed my fancy a couple of weeks ago:

I still have a white version of that Dodge van back in my childhood toy stash back in the UK, which I'd previously forgotten about until I saw this one. Quite liked the colours of the VW and also its retro card and I just had to have the AMX, which looks great with extra detail. I had notions of opening the Javelin as soon as I got home but I didn't and am now not sure. So in the meantime, I put them with the other Hotwheels rash purchases I've got sitting in a box and I immediately had a bout of buyer's remorse, as I couldn't remember picking up half of them and a lot weren't really that interesting, in retrospect.

That said, a local large store has got a promotion on of 5 Hotwheels for $8 (a shade over £4!!), so I may have to take a gander...

Great stuff there Jon, love the Simca. I believe the estate version which Atlas also do has the correct folding picnic table.

Of course you have to take it out of the blister. It's much easier to play with it that way.

Yo I have a bonnetless Zephyr with good engine if you want it for postage?

Cheers Mr Pin, that would be great. Does it have the under bonnet spare? Thanks.

Almost certainly. I will check.

That bit of wobbly french plastic was seriously cheap, I bet JM isn't jealous, much, and that Simca is seriously nice, the luggage is a great finishing touch, and back in the day I suspect was easily lost up the hoover

Not perfect Mr Catsundog, but hope I've done ok for you!
