Am now working at some show on the Sunday so can't do this now. FAIL.

I'm still a maybe just now - if I've got the coin to afford a million litres of pez I'll take a long weekend down there in the Senator.

Give me a lift and I'll give you a tenner :D Otherwise it's unlikely I'd be there, which is a shame really.

Also, I haven't got anything shite...

Posted

It's a bit far, but put me down as a potential because I want to make the effort for this one.

Posted

stick all the relevant date/location info in the OP, so people can get the gist of it without having to read all the pages :)

Posted

I think what he was meaning was put details in the first post ;)

Posted

I'm in.

But do I bring my disgracefully pikey Beta saloon, or some much rarer chod?

Posted

Another Beta saloon will be in good company - but there will already be at least 6 there!

Initial post now edited to give all the details - I'll post the edit on this page too.

Posted

A copy of the edit I have added to my first post on this subject!

EDIT:

Right - finalised details as follows:

Date: Saturday 14th July 2012 flowing seamlessly into Sunday 15 July

Location: Wiltshire, UK, 3 miles west of Chippenham, between J17 and J18 of M4, about a mile and a half away from Castle Combe circuit

Arrival - Saturday early afternoon (from 1pm)

Departure ........ Sunday AM for those brave enough to stay over - and we'll head off en-mass to the Attwell Wilson Motor Museum in Calne.

Space available to pitch tent or park caravans, I'll hire some porta-loos, but please note that there is no mains water in the field (there is water for washing cars etc, but not drinking water)

FOOD:

We'll get the BBQ going mid / late afternoon on the Saturday - probably about 3.30 to 4pm, and from then onwards we will just keep it ticking over for the duration of the day. Included in the gate charge will be all your food and soft drink. (Selection of burgers, sausages, chicken, rolls, sausages, salads, cheeses, cakes, crisps, fizzy pops, tea, coffee, water, chips..... etc etc. I don't expect anyone to starve)

What you need to bring:

Yourselves, your Autoshite, any autoshite-jumble you want to sell, and MOST importantly... copious amounts of alcohol to go into the pile for all to share.

Cost:

Gate charge of £10 per car including driver. (Additional passengers: Adults £5, Kids £2.50) Why is there a charge?? To cover the cost of hiring a couple of porta-loos, to cover the bbq gas, the food, Shite prizes and giving my neighbour something for using their part of the field! I hope you all feel that cost structure is a fair one?

How to book:

No specific booking required, but just so I can effectively cater, if your name is on the definate list (page 8 of this thread) then please let me know by 10 July if you are unable to make it. If you are on the maybe list, or haven't decided yet, please let me know by 10th July of your intention. However, saying that, if you turn up on the day, you won't be turned away. As this is an honourable forum, I'll take payment on the gate, so you don't have to pay in advance!

How to find out exact location details:

I'll PM all confirmed attendees with postcode and directions on 11 & 12 July.

PRIZES:

Best / worst pieces of Shite. Best Lancia Gamma of the day (I have high hopes for that one!!) best tent / caravan. Best contribution to the alcohol stock pile..... the list could be endless!

I think that is most of the detail covered.... let me know if i have forgotten anything!

I've just checked the works calendar and am off work from Saturday 14th to Tuesday 17th July (inclusive) so am looking forward to a decent Autoshite meet-up. I've met a few fellow Autoshiters when I've done a car recovery or two, but would love to meet others. I shall mostly be attending in either this:

(Which has deteriorated more then somewhat since this picture was taken!)

Or this:

But if I can get it going I might make it in this:

In fact the idea of an Autoshite barbeque has inspired me to work on the Wartburg....

I also do not drink any more (then again, I don't drink any less.....)

Posted

I don't drink either. Shall we start a soft drinks pile?

There are going to be some incredible win-worthy vehicles at this. Exciting!

Posted

Glad this is still on, really looking forward to spending my birthday with fellow 'shiters. Betaboy, I think the gate charge is very reasonable considering the effort you're putting in to this, many thanks in advance.

Posted

Now that I have left my supermarket job and thus no longer have to work weekends, I could quite possibly attend. Shame my Almera isn't shite/classic enough!

Posted

Oh I don't know ...... don't be so harsh on the Almera.

I'd class it as shite.

Posted

I'm still up for this. I'll see how the drive to Cholmondery goes in the FSO. It is terrible on petrol, I rekon as bad as the 3.0 Monza!

Posted

Neither do I really, someone tell me what kind of booze I should bring for the pile.

Posted

Surely the most appropriate beer to stock pile is the Tesco brand French 4.8% lagers, 20 stubbies for a fiver! Cheap, shitey, and French. Quirky beer.

I think £10 entry is more than reasonable considering the amount of effort.

Worth opening a Faecebook page for it? Or making an Event on the Autoshite FB page is probably better?

Another fellow MarathonMan has just confirmed him attendence via text, taking his yellow DAF 44.

Posted

+1 more, 'fuelline' has just confirmed attendance.

Due to awful hangovers and the fact I am running out of friends to insult when I am pissed, I am currently stopping drinking except when absolutely necessary. That Becks Blue nearly tastes like lager, but I stress the nearly. Are there any other 'mind over matter' alternatives that any non drinkers can recommend?

Well, personally I think yourself, Volksy and I should all go in the same vehicle, and therefore you'll have two people to insult.

Drinking will be a certainty no?

:)

Plots....how the hell can I swing a pass? It's only an 800 mile round trip....maybe an 'important meeting in the south'

Bring the missus and the weans. Call it the family holiday. Job done

Failing that, if you need someone to conspire in some deception then obviously I'd be happy to oblige...

I want to say I'm a definite attendee for this, but I'm going to have to be a maybe until things are a bit more predictable here.

*if* I can make it (and right this second that's a big if) I'll be toddling down in the Princess and possibly rigging up some sort of net curtain and anorak arrangement in the windows so the sun doesn't blind me when it comes in through the windows. I hate camping so much I'd rather sleep in my car.

Posted
Drinking will be a certainty no?:)

I fell off the wagon with 2 pints today but that's okay. Am just giving up heavy drinking binges. Its for special occasions only. Sick of losing half my weekends to hangovers.

Will have to see what's on the road at the time. Will be interesting getting 3 of us and camping equipment in the GT6......

I don't really drink anymore ....mind you with 400mg of tramadol a day I don't really have to!

now, where did I park that lobster? Mildred! have you stoked the fridge yet!?
