Some shite spottings - giffertastic Escrot and others

With the family engaged in a shopping expedition today I decided to have a nose around the car park. Nothing spectacular but a few things you might enjoy.

Tidy early Mk3 Astra with bonus Tigra background

A more typical Astra

I quite like these Camrys

OMG NOT RATLUK GOLF. Shame about the door.

These Scorpios don't look so bad now. Essex plates so an ex Ford press car?

Other things seen but not photographed included a Toyota Paseo that drove off as I approached, an immaculate giffer-owned L reg Mondeo with some fearsome looking chav girls hanging around near it, a grotty Primera diesel estate (with a roofbox) that the driver insisted on sitting in, and a load of Almeras - where did they all come from?

This old Escrot is currently sitting outside my house

Blimey a phone box - you don't see many of those nowadays.

Nice spots by the way, I've been meaning to get out and about with my camera but perhaps I'll wait till the weathers a bit warmer. I've been making a mental list of some of the stuff around here, I hope it doesn't all disappear before I start snapping.

That Escort is a right early one looks quite tidy too.

It is indeed! Many go on about the rareity of earlier ones - try and find these, these days... A Wedgewood Blue LX (only a 1.3 - no engine designation mentioned) with Goodwood blue cotton from the looks of it ,mode>. As early as mine and bodywork wise, from what we see, near enough as good too. Mine has the original trims and well treated bumpers though...! I must admit, it's been a while since I've seen one the same age as mine in similar decent condition too... A very light skimming with T-cut and that would come up an absolute treat.

Anyone know who owns it? I may have found a mentor!

I actually saw someone using that phone box for its proper purpose a few weeks ago - the first time in ages. I've seen the Escort in that spot once before and it's still there now, 4 hours after taking the photo, so I guess it belongs to a regular visitor.

It isn't the most amazing thing I've seen on that road though - I woke up one morning to find this beast staring back at me. One of apparently only two 1984 Nissan 300C autos now licensed, it belongs to a friend of my neighbour who has owned it from new and in heroic autoshite style chose it in preference to a Jag!

That burgundy truck in the barn has an AEC look about it. Wonder if its a mk3 militant.....

I think its an Atkinson, can't see it clearly enough to be sure though. Nice ERF next to it too.

Cor! That early Escort brings back memories of selling them new! We sold bucket loads on Motability in that colour....it seemed to appeal to all the disabled folk for some reason!

Nice to see such a well preserved one twenty odd years later!

I'd put money on it being an Atki Borderer.

Spotted today in Edmonton, North London: Triumph Acclaim in silver and a black Citroen BX. No piccies as I was driving :(

Shopping again today. Considering how busy everywhere was, shite pickings were surprisingly slim but I captured this eclectic selection for your delectation.

Xedos owned by one of my grandparents' neighbours. It's an OAP housing complex but everyone else has boring modern cars.

Camo chic LHD Merc, imported in 2003 apparently

This MIcra is proper gorgeous. Local car with original dealer plates FTW

This Pisshat has been hanging around on my estate for a few weeks, the back is full of tools so it appears to belong to a tradesman

PAGING MR CAVETTE!!! 96N Cavalier 2.0SRi for sale @ £800. I remember this being here when I went to middle school in the late 90s so I'm guessing 1 owner. I have the seller's number if anyone's seriously interested.

Are these ones still red tops on this year or are they Ecotecs Billy?

Posted

I'd wager one as late as that will the Ecotec. From memory they changed from the C20XE about (late) 1993 to 1994.

X20XEV Ecotecs, cort.

The last C20XE redtops were fitted to 1994 'L' SRi model Cavs (although I suspect some might have been registered as late as 1995).

Yo Quicksilver, do you live in Aylesbury? It all looks very familiar in your pics.

Right county, but I'm a wee bit further north than Aylesbury. I'm in what should rightfully be the county town of Bucks, the noble town of Buckingham.

No idea on the Cav's mileage as the ad didn't say, will see if I can get a look at the clock next time I go by. It has an MOT til August but is only taxed to the end of this month.

A random memory has just stirred - the garage with the blue door you can see in the second Cavalier pic used to have a yellow Spitfire and a red Alfasud Sprint in it. No idea if they're still there though.

This shocked me fully awake when I opened the bedroom curtains this morning. It's totally rammed full of stuff.

The streets round here are hardly paved with shite and uni is a dead loss - in five weeks I've yet to see anything remotely shite there. Just one roadside spot today, an old clunkomatic Merc

merc380.jpg

and one for all you Lancia lovers. Dad saw this yesterday and happily it was still there when I went by today. This place used to be a Lancia dealer and the owner's collection of tat has been in the showroom since Lancia shut up shop - I'll go and get some pics sometime.

lancia.jpg

I also caught a glimpse of what I'm sure was a Nissan Stagea passing by as I came out of uni, no chance of a photo though.

Some news on the Cavalier - I saw it yesterday on what was obviously a test drive and the for sale sign has gone now so I guess it'll be moving on to pastures new very soon.

Slim shite pickings of late but here's one to be going on with. Forget this VW nonsense, what you really need to holiday in style is something beige and French:

This is just round the corner from the green Cavalier, which incidentally is still for sale - someone please buy it!

Tatty Ibiza

As a cheap(ish) means of getting from a to b, I can highly recommend this shape Ibiza. 8) The TDi must go like hot manure off a spade. I had mine for 7.5 years until I wrote it off. My mate had the facelifted model, owned from new (pre-registered) and for 11 years. He's just acquired his parents' Leon. :D
