We all know about Gaydon, Beulieu or the Heynes museum. But where can you go to see chod preserved for posterity that is a little off the beaten track?

Caister Castle Car Collection in Norfolk. Been there a few times in the past.

It has the very first Ford Fiesta there. :)

The Stondon motor museum in Bedfordshire is particularly obscure, there was an Autoshite meet there 2 years ago

he one in Calne has real chod - Attwell Wilson

Didn't Atwell Wilson close down? We had a MacDroitwich caper there a few years back, but shortly after the cars started appearing on eBay. I hope it didn't mind. What other car museum has an FSO Polonez and a Citroen XM covered in dirt?

They whittled the collection down but the museum is very much chod-filled and open.

I saw the XM - the guy who owned the museum died and only he knew the immobiliser code - so the car was killed by the simple lack of a four number code.

There is a place near Denbigh (North Wales) that had some random chod including the getaway lorry from the Great Train Robbery.

The Patrick Collection collection in Birmingham used to be open to the public. I think some of it is still available for private views, anyone know?

That place sadly burnt down a while back, but they are trying to resurrect it. AFAIK, the truck survived but was pretty badly damaged. Not as badly as some of the cars though!

http://www.myretonmotormuseum.co.uk/in Aberlady is well worth a visit, even if you just get to peer through the windows because it's closed when it's not meant to be. :evil: I understand this is likely to happen even in the high season so it's best to phone before visiting.

Look at it though

It stands to reason really that somebody who runs a place like that is unlikely to stick to their advertised opening hours, a more "professional" curator would run a less interesting museum.

Went here last month, it's a little small, but they've put a lot of effort in with what they've got. There is some rather unique crap too;

The Patrick Collection still existed in the early 2000's as I investigated going (to the the GrpB BX rally car), even then the building was rather derelict looking, and closed tours only.
