  1. Thank you; that was my plan indeed, but I failed at the masking, and got the layout wrong anyway. On the British Gas CF I pretty much got the layout right but again, my masking wasn't so good. I need to build up some more confidence to tackle them again (but now they're in my head, it will happen) so this CF is going in a 70s custom direction. I don't know yet which way I'm going to take the Transit.
  2. Exactly! I had a bit of a masking disaster recently, as you can see above. I can deal with the ice cream van (another Dan bargain) by brush. The two-tone Ford sedan just needed re-masking and the darker shade spraying again. I stripped the two vans and re-primed them. This morning I've put some colour on the CF. Nothing is beyond fixing.
  3. Diesel does not belong in the private car at all. It shouldn't be in anything smaller than a Transit. FWD is a completely superfluous layer of complication forced on us by the manufacturers and absolutely, totally should not be in anything bigger than a Fiesta or equivalent. There are far too many cars on the road. I say that as a lifelong lover and advocate of the whole concept.
  4. Episode 14, scene 22, Dick Barton Special Agent! Very strong Amy Whinehouse look going on there! Give that girl a pie, stat!
  5. Well that'll teach him to go to a vendor who didn't used to be a cop!
  6. I did say "possibly." I have, as Dirty Harry said, kinda lost track myself.
  7. Halfords still have it, at least here in Barrow. I know, there's one on my shelf waiting for me to find a Vanguards Granada to use it on!
  8. Right... I know some of you are holding boxes for me. @bunglebus @FakeConcern @danthecapriman Also possibly: @155V6 @flat4alfa @Datsuncog - I think! I may have forgotten someone, or I may have already claimed the goods; if so then please accept my apologies. So if you are holding a box for me, my birthday is coming up (4 weeks). I'll be able to dismiss any deliveries as unexpected* birthday presents. Let me know what I owe you and I'll hide cash in a birthday* card The less The Boss knows, the better, right? I'll get a load of earache when the goods arrive but that's my problem.
  9. My first Chevette was a 3 door estate, as was my mk1 Escort.
  10. 100% agree! I've just been up and had half an hour or so fiddling with stuff, including some projects I've been quietly ignoring for many months. My mind is always calmer after a burst of that.
  11. Yes there was, the red one lasted for many years.
  12. @FakeConcern thank you! Considering most of it came from you in almost throwaway condition (although the Dodge was better than that really) I'm pleased with the result. It was very satisfying being able to use up some of the miscellaneous bits I've been hoarding collecting too. Those garages are lush, I really love an old Grandad-build. But someone needs to tell that shop (and many others) that the kids aren't playing with cars any more (sadly) and the Collectors - the Grandads - have no money left.
  13. @SiC it didn't work I've been trying to get into the same thread for several minutes now to pick up on a notification. All together now: 502...
  14. For those who've been following the occasional updates, My build project has finally come to fruition. I don't think I shared the last before pic... And a couple of days later, this is the underside... And then a trip to the Dark Desert Highway to collect a Cadillac, and meet an original... Corgi Dodge Kew Fargo, sliced just ahead of the rear axle, mated to the lower deck of a Corgi Carrimore mkIV trailer, sliced just aft of the front buttresses. Redundant small-scale Humvee body trimmed down to make equipment lockers under the bed. The rack behind the cab is a solitary surplus "rave" from a 1960s Britains farm cart that has long gone, lightly trimmed. So now it can take its place in my recovery fleet!
  15. And to reinforce the intermittency of the issue, I just clicked on the last page number available and got in!
  16. 502 Bad Gateway. Happening way too much.
  17. We all love* an intermittent fault, don't we? For some weeks now, when the site feels like it, I've had difficulty getting into a thread. Not in general, oh no: the one thread that really keeps me here, @Split_Pin's magnificent Shite In Miniature II. If I click on the thread title on the index page, the site thinks about it for a little while, then tells me "502 Bad Gateway." I've tried clicking on a page number: same result. If I come back to it this afternoon it might work fine. Or it might not, I have no way of knowing until I try. It might do this for the rest of the week, or tomorrow might be fine. I haven't noticed any other threads doing the same; some are older and more populous, some younger and sparser, but it seems to be an issue with this particular thread for some reason. Could somebody have a fiddle please?
  18. The first primary teacher I can remember - Mrs Atkinson, 1963 - drove a yellow and white Bedford CA Dormobile. It was replaced in 68 by a white Hillman Imp Californian, RDM 826F. It's a very mixed blessing.
