  1. Yes you really must! Bagsy the A40 and Opel Diplomat at the very least!
  2. I can see you and I are coming at this from opposite directions! As a lifelong asthmatic I'm horrified at the promotion of diesel over the last 30 years or so. I breathe much, much easier when petrol engines pass me in the street. But also, having sat on top of diesels in trucks for so many miles, I really can't listen to the small shoddy things that are in modern cars. I'd FAR rather listen to a slurping petrol V8. I'd also far rather sit behind it and press on the pedal, especially with a Gentleman's Gearbox attached! Vive la difference if it keeps the price of a V8 down to where I can have one!
  3. Well I've emptied the rinse bucket this morning and now I've got five raw shells on the windowsill drying off. Might even get primer on some of them this afternoon!
  4. They're all in the rinse bucket now. I'll dry them out tomorrow.
  5. Steve Flowers can supply the bumpers and windows. I know, I bought them for mine, that I've had since about 1964.
  6. Stripping bath number 3 begins... (The Volvo estate came clean after two and is now in the rainwater rinse.)
  7. Look carefully and you'll notice the number plates are different styles! Meanwhile, I thought I'd repost this from my Barrow Wheels thread... ...as a lead-in to these... Does a pair of these make them "Mokkasins"? Not an easy angle, but a pair of 207s, both black, both five-door, was worth the effort (wasn't it?). And from recent events at the Lakeland Motor Museum...
  8. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the police were looking for that one. Disappointed, but not in any way surprised.
  9. Agreed. I have a couple of these coming soon, so you might just see another one on this thread!
  10. The paint on those newer models is proving particularly resistant to the Cosmic Soda. I'll keep at it...
  11. Just the one today, from last night's dog walk. Around the corner from me is a big pub that was open when we moved here, but closed down within a couple of years. It then went through a redevelopment that turned it into a massive HMO, supposedly for visiting BAE contractors. That didn't last and for the last couple of years it seems to have become some kind of halfway house or bail hostel. This black Mondeo has been sitting on the same spot for probably a year now, flat tyres and no number plates. It's often accompanied by a selection of Golf-sized VAGs, usually diesel, usually monochrome, usually being worked on, or at least laid up for work to take place.
  12. Yesterday I was round the corner from the Sally Army shop, so I had to drop in... ...and spend a whole 20p! The unopened bag of signs and cones just appealed; the trailer is excellent but probably missing something like a slurry tank. I'll find a use for it. Meanwhile, this morning there has been work going on. Drilling... ...and stripping... ...which is where they are as I type (typing done indoors with coffee, biscuits and snuggled-up dog, the way it should be!). And in between those two pics, painting happened. Yes, that's the failed White Arrow van. I'll do it plain this time. I know I'll have more Transits to come.
  13. I've seen them now. You weren't wrong!
  14. I know I've been away 15 years but oh boy, Southport has changed!
  15. Nice van, but too dear for the condition.
  16. Multiquote needs to be done manually. So let's say you press the + on the latest reply, you then need to go back through the previous contributions and press + on each one individually. This does mean that if you want to, you can insert comments of your own between the existing replies.
  17. I used to be a binman. I can remember!
  18. I haven't totally been ignoring this thread for the last month, honest... I have, however, been building up some photos for you. Barrow Banger Racer Picks Up Granada Shock! This is surviving pretty well for 30+ years old. I hated the one I had in 1993... Beautiful old Volvo was at an art event yesterday. I can't believe this is 26 years old now! It lives nearby, but this pic is from the end of my street, much closer than it usually comes. When you have a garage round the corner it seems to attract abandoned cars! Two Vauxhall Antaras, both diesel/manual. Nearest to camera is a recent addition, the other one's been here weeks. This is the Passat I referred to in another thread, that threw up a terminal bill. And this Focus has been in the same spot for months.
  19. If you're nearby, it's a shame not to have a look in a charity shop, isn't it? Salvation Army, total investment £1.60. From the top then: Blue truck has a working tail-lift! I can make use of that. Cab wears a Mercedes star but doesn't look much like Merc styling. Yellow one has no markings but seems to be probably a Mitsubishi Canter. I'll find a use for it. The cab tilts! Red trailer has only one wheel but I thought it would make an acceptable load bed for some truck chassis or other. No idea what the apparatus on the back is about; muck-spreading, perhaps? Straight into the Projects box with all three of them then.
  20. At the risk of appearing predictable...
  21. I did that with our tablecloth...
