Received a nice note from Cumbria police today. I knew I’d been caught , just wasn’t expecting a van on a bridge on a motorway. ( I didn’t think they did it in case some one slams the brakes on and causes a pile up. I now know better). 82 ffs , hardly the land speed record. Looks like I can have the pleasure of a Speed awareness course. As they only send the letters by ordinary post , what’s to stop you saying you never received the letter? When they re-send it , you’re then out of the 2 week timescale. I’m sure there must be a reason , otherwise everyone would do it.

Students = money ( for someone else). Watch Homes under the Hammer. Big house , say 5 bed, rent out as a house , say £1000 pcm. Make it a HMO ( always think it sounds like a prison, next worst thing I suppose ), 5 students (probably more) at £100 pw = £2000+ pcm.

Yes I think it does have an effect. I have never had anyone do it to me while driving my Impreza but happens quite often in the Bini.

I’d have never associated dogging with EV charging but it does solve the problem of what to do while you’re waiting. Manufacturers are going to have to review what an optimum charge time is as too quick charging may put buyers off!

Where I live , there is a traffic warden about 1/2 day per month, because the council says they can’t afford more, so people park everywhere , double parking on double yellow lines. People even park on the yellow lines when there are legal spaces , just to park outside a particular shop. I do not know or have heard of anyone getting a ticket.

No doubt it will be enforced in the same way as litter and dog shit. I.e no one will ever get a fine.

While bright lights maybe better than no lights, being dazzled hides other things, which is just as dangerous. The other night , I was on a city centre motorway, needed to change lanes but looking in the mirror all I could see was a wall of lights. Had little idea of how far away the were and could have easily missed a close up car with normal but much dimmer lights.

I think you’re preaching to the choir here. If people aren’t interested in cars ( or only interested in the badge), they treat them as domestic appliances. It’s there to do a job at minimum cost and only do any maintenance if it breaks down. They don’t understand ( nor want to) the difference between good tyres and those with cords showing and any weird noises are dealt with by turning up the stereo.

This pm it was dark here before 3 pm. I’m swearing at people not signalling and then notice a tiny yellow slit completely masked by stupid patterns of over bright LED DRLs. Do we really need every light surrounded by a pattern of LEDs?. They look really naff anyway.
