When I was at the Tartan Tarmac meet yesterday, there was a Quantum on display.

On the windscreen was advertised a Rickman Ranger project for sale. No real details

I've got the sellers number- if you'd like it please drop me a PM:)

I like the fact that Mr Rickman (if that's who it was) thought, "I really like the look of the Suzuki SJ, but by heck do they rot! I shall make a plastic one."

I like the fact that Alan Rickman (God rest his soul) thought, "I really like the look of the Suzuki SJ, but due to acting commitments, I haven't got time drive it to the garage for it to be tickled with a sparkly stick on a weekly basis. I shall ask my minions to make a plastic one, and if it's good*, shall put my name to it."

Also FTFY.

I  wanted one new, but they were aproaching 2K. Duttons were !K.

As i had the lower sum i bought a Dutton (several over the years)

Bought a Rickman fairly recently to scratch an itch, Ghosty will confirm. Cost £1500.

Had it 3 months, spent £200 on it, sold it for £1200.

On that basis, I'm out.

They were very well engineered for the time though.

I actually quite like the Dutton (Sierra?) - it does look fairly business-like and isn't obviously trying to copy anything else. The Rickman just looks like a badly-photocopied drawing of an SJ with no springs. I'm happy to accept that they were well-engineered, but the looks alone would prevent me ever buying (or publically driving) one.

That's said Ranger, helping lower my street's property prices along with the BX of many shiters, my 216, 3VOM's Signum, the old man's A4, and my mum's previous Bini.

Rickman Rangers are great cars!  but then i would say that - i have 2 and I'm the chairman of the owners club lol.

I dont think they look that bad tbh, there are certainly worse looking kit cars out there.......

as for the one the OP is talking about - i think i know the car, and project is probably accurate...  that said, id rather it was saved than scrapped for escort bits.

I use my green one for classic trials, and it is brilliant fun.  in fact, im taking the wife and both kids on the Edinburgh trial in september in it (if i get around to changing the water pump by then)
